ELETIGNA'S PACK 4: NEW STREET ELEMENTS 2 (CANCELLED).

As I already said in a previous thread:

"I have thought about creating a Megapack with more than 30 elements. Surely pack is called: "My favorite objects" and that surely I structure of the following way:

- 8 items dedicated to walls or fences, including some adornment with lights of colors.

- 12 path objects (mainly lamps: 5) although also bins, banks and vending machines or tickets stalls (for which I would use sid of the stamp machine) and perhaps a plank of map as ones come into the game.

-5 items varied (without concrete theme, but equally useful: statues, fountains...).

-5 new elements for parking lot (vehicles): New Police car, semi-truck, school bus, taxi and one new model car.

-1 new mistery item (still more surprising that the one of previous pack). :p

More than 10 items with light or particles of effect and perhaps some re-colourable object. :noob: "

Yes, you're right. Maybe this fountains are a little bit "too small" for a bigger size , but please make the fountain with the fish as 3x3.

BTW: I always miss the wall lamp-counterpart of your streetlamp from ELETIGNA CREATIONS PACK 3: STREET ELEMENTS. Maybe you could add the wall lamp to this set.

Mmmmmhhhh ... I like the iron from this wall-lamp, but with just a bulb in it it looks a little incomplete. Like someone has shoot the glass from the lamp and only the bulb has survived. Maybe you could add one of the glasses from your new stunning parklamp as an addition to this lamp. And I'm sure that a few other people want the "old" wall lamp too, because she looks great in medieval scenery (or in Shyguy's Alpine Village). If you can do it, release them both, pleeeeaaassseee :)

I probably don't need to say how great all of this looks, as many already did so =)

A few things that came to my mind (maybe you already thought of that):
1) The telephone booth and maybe the popcorn and icecream stand would be good as pass machines so peeps would interact with them.
2) Alternatively the icecream stand could flip over a generic stand, but maybe it would look oversized if made to fit.
3) Will the ticket booth be made to flip over the generic ride entry ticket booth?
4) Maybe the road sign could be made a billboard so people could stick on their own (Memphis, 10 miles for a rock'n'roll park comes to mind ;))

Fabulous models you've got here. Love all the new cars/trucks. Is it at all possible that you could assign flags to make the cars/trucks conform to terrain? That way we can make all sorts of traffic going uphills, downhill... and even use them as scenery pieces (hey, anything is possible).

I just think that terrain conforming cars would just expand this pack in it's flexibility, since most people will be using cars on flat land. Then there are those who take scenery to different extremes.

This is just my suggestion, and can be ignored if you wish. But keep up the most excellent work on the items.

it seems that all these models were created by someone else, and while I don't object to what you are doing, I do object to the fact that nowhere in any of your posts do you give credit to the original author, blatently passing them off as your own creation, when all you've done is optimize them in a 3d prog, which anyone can do with the click of a button.

Hi Nuclear, there easy enough to recreate in any 3d prog, but they are identical except for the fact that the polygons have been reduced, and they have been re-textured, Like I said I have no problem with people doing this, as long as they have the decency to credit the original artist.
And if he is the original artist, then I appologise for any misconception, although these are simple models, they are proffesionaly done, and I would imagine anyone with those skills would be making them for money, Instead of posting them here. But maybe he likes playing rct3 instead.

While I have to agree that the original author should be credited (or at least you should say you didn't create the original model if you don't know who the original author is), I know from my own experience it can be hard work to properly reduce the poly count. In some cases the automatic optimization option is rather a automatic fubar option :)

i do agree that the auto opt can give undesired results, On a proffesionaly created model it will/should work perfectly, the problems arise when the model is not mirrored correctly. for example if you create a box in a 3d prog and select show edges, 99% of the time, if you look at one face, the 2 faces will be split top right to bottom left, now if you turn it 90 degree's to the opposing face it will invariably be split from top left to bottom right, also proffesionals dont use triangles/single face polys, as its bad practice and messes up smoothing and optimizing.

And finally nice work on the importer. :up: :up: :up: :up: :up:

To give credots to the original author is not always easy. Because this objeczts are public domain and available for free to anyone, anyone could do with them what he want. On most websites with free 3d-objects, the original author was never mentioned. So you can't give credits to the authors.

Eletigna should had mentioned, that he has converted some pre-modeled objects. That the only thing, that I can reproch with him.

But if anyone can do this by a mouse-click, why didn't anyone do this. The web is full of free 3D-objects. It looks now, that Eletigna has canceled this set now. Thanks!!!

BTW: I can't find any credits to the Disney Company for the Disney Castle or Shyguys Main Street and a lot of other objects here.

But we all praise every custom scenery maker for his new objects, have tons of requests and everyone here overread that this objects are taken from anywhere from the net.

Anyone here want any possible object in their parks and the most people here don't care who has create the original. We need a police car, someone made a policecar. He released the police-car and anyone thanks him for the release. No-one read the whole thread anymore, where the publisher maybe has mentioned that this policecar was found somewhere in the internet. All that the peeps here interest is "Can you do another car too" and "How can I remove this SIS-Error?".

This objects are taken from FREE libraries, they are freeware. Any creator of freeware would be happy, if you mentioned his name, but he can't expect, that anyone do this, because of the pre-mentioned reasons (unknown etc.).

He (Elegtina) might not understand what it means to release your own custom scenery. He probably thinks that it is okay to plagerise other's work, yet he thinks it's okay to alter it and release it all in one set. I don't really know what the deal is.

Whats up with the attitude folks? I am siding with RCT-Spanky on this issue. Eletigna has shared a number of sets with us. He was one of the earlier Custom Scenery creators. I rather doubt that there was much a tutorial at the time he started sharing with us..

Especially if the name is just a forum name, which many are. True creators of free content, should enjoy seeing their labors being used by others, unless maybe they possess some kind of an ego problem. Now if he said he created something like, lets say... the Internet, similarly to a former United States presidential candidate's claim a few years ago, then it might makes since to confront him. If for nothing else, other than to have a few laughs at the expensive of someone who would be so foolish as to make such an outlandish claim.

I am thankful to anyone who has attempted to build custom content for this game. From what I have observed, it is an awkward process. I am doubly thankful to anyone who has actually completed a good set of objects which can be used in the game.

To me, I don't really have a problem with him releasing someone else's work; I just hope he gets this done soon. Because I have wondered, how long has it been since he has posted in this thread? One month exactly from when I posted this. That's a long time. You are supposed to keep your "custom scenery users" informed on the progress of your work. I downloaded his third pack recently and works great. Where are you Elegtina?

I found it quite obvious from the start that these were all (or least most) models taken from the web and altered for RCT3. He was always talking about reducing the polygons. And he always showed us pics of everything first, and then it would take weeks for him to release, which to me seemed clear that these weren't his original models.

I'm not bothered by any of this, btw. Just surprised no one else new this. And I agree , he should have made it more clear, so as to be sure he wasn't trying to pass these off as his own.

To give credots to the original author is not always easy. Because this objeczts are public domain and available for free to anyone, anyone could do with them what he want. On most websites with free 3d-objects, the original author was never mentioned. So you can't give credits to the authors.

Eletigna should had mentioned, that he has converted some pre-modeled objects. That the only thing, that I can reproch with him.

But if anyone can do this by a mouse-click, why didn't anyone do this. The web is full of free 3D-objects. It looks now, that Eletigna has canceled this set now. Thanks!!!

BTW: I can't find any credits to the Disney Company for the Disney Castle or Shyguys Main Street and a lot of other objects here.

You're right about the objects being in the web --- free to use by anyone BUT not to be published as their own creations. Because if these object were copyrighted by the owner --- problem might arise!

He only published them as his sets, because he have done the work to get them in the game. Nobody should be here more papal as the pope. Anyone has download his sets and used them in their parks.

And if you give somethin' away for free ... you normally giving up your copyright. Elegtigna's sets are not the only ones with objects from the web, here. If any 3D-model-creator find some of his free objects here, he can ask the creator to mentioned his name or to remove his object. But I think, that most of the creators of 3d-models never play RCT3.

Sorry guys, but I am going to STRONGLY disagree, this subject really bothers me. I'm not talking about Eletigna, because I personally think this is more a case of mis-communication than anything else, but I take exception to Spanky and Denny's posts above.

The majority of textures, objects, etc. available do in fact require that you either credit the creator, or credit the site where you found them. They usually state that you are free to use them IF you give proper credit. If you don't see a copyright statement YOU CAN NOT ASSUME THERE ISN'T ONE.

Spanky - giving away something for free does NOT remove any copyrights. That is a fact.

Copying ads or images from other websites and then either hosting them yourself or telling people to download and use them in their parks is also wrong. It doesn't make a single bit of difference whether you are offering them free or not.

Copyrights do NOT disappear just because you can't see any harm in it.

The simple way around this is to follow the directions and do what is required. How is it so difficult to give someone credit for their work? Why is it so hard to ask permission first before deciding that your own that you can do whatever you darn well please with something?

A while back I saw a Disney image posted as a 'freebie' at someone's site. Looking closer I saw the name of a website printed on the image, I went to that site, and sure enough, it was original, copyrighted material. I took the small amount of time needed to send a polite email asking if I could use the image in my parks. I got back a very nice letter that not only gave me permission to use the images as long as I credited him, but thanked me over and over for bothering to take the time to ask. He also mentioned that he was aware of the site that was offering his artwork without permission, and his lawyer was going to take care of them. The point is...if I can take five minutes to ask permission, than sure in hell so can anyone else.

This is the same issue that came up in rct2...

Its true wabigbear. Copyright never disappears. I quote straight from my local trading standards:

"Using copyrighted material for non-commercial work is perfectly fine, providing you state who the copyright belongs to and when it was created"

Whats about the pictures, that you use as the backgrounds of your logos. Or did you flow around the world and shot them all by yourself??? I never saw anywhere that you wrote somethin' about the original photographer under your logos. That's exactly the same as what you talk about here.

We can discuss here about copyrights etc. In RCT2 tons of the objects are just cut-outs from other games. Nobody has asked the original publisher if you can't use them as objects. I'm sure, that MidwestboyinLa has never asked JK Rowling for the permission to create a Harry Potter Set or that Shyguy never asked Disney for permission to create Disneyland-Objects (what's about the decorative elementes with Disney-Pictures in his first mainstreet-set).

If you think so, you must ask for anything. The next step is that nobody will ever release anymore custom scenery for RCT3. We can discuss here a lot longer about copyrights ... but that would help nobody.
