Good Day everyone,

Announcing the first in a chain of parks, South Metro Studios California.

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc1.jpg

The entrance plaza is very festive and colorful

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc2.jpg

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc3.jpg

Entering the park it is obvious that there is a lot yet to do but the retail and concession area is starting to take shape

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc4.jpg

Our boardwalk is well under way

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc5.jpg

Some of the rides have been installed and await theming and shops

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc6.jpg

Paddle steamers will transport guests on the lake

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc7.jpg

Our first coaster awaits launch inside the professor's power generator. Trains leave the station and pause inside the generator to be launched up the hill

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc8.jpg

Another view of the square with the coaster in the background

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc9.jpg

The plan is to use unique theming to give the park a distinct character. Still under construction this coaster is themed on a scientist’s libratory

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc10.jpg

Nighttime and we will have to wait for more progress later.

Thanks for your time!

Nice! Very nice. The building with the tower, a little bit to 'plastic'.

I love the idea of a generator waiting room, I was planning a realistic coaster, might use that idea.

I always love a fresh park by a fresh member, I love the coaster, and I personally like the building Rct3Mania posted above. I hope this turns out well.

Nice use of Steelworx for your coaster, oh, and, what pack is that stuff you used for the coaster station in?

Oh yea, and on the first pic, See where the big window is above where the guests walk under?
Replace it with a park logo since you have wild. If you need one made I have a request topic in General RCT3 Chat ;)

i know? is an incomplete sentence, and I dont speak the language that uses i know? in a sentence so could you please refrase that.

Im glad to hear that, that coaster deserves a pretty entrance but still whered you get the scenry?

Nice! Very nice. The building with the tower, a little bit to 'plastic'.
It's not plastic its stucco and I think Shyguy did a nice job on the textures so it looks pretty stucco to me.

Skippytim: I am not a fresh member exactly, just one in disguise, sort of... Feel free if you want to use the idea or anything similar. The way it works is there is a launched lift hill but prior to the launch section is a small chain lift then you strategically place block breaks on the track and set the block option on the coaster properties and the trains will wait on the chain lift until the previous train hits the first block break on the track. You could get the same effect with a block break before your lift hill if you wanted the trains to stop on a level track I just like the drama of stopping just at the start of the hill.

The park logo idea on the entrance I may do that when I take the time to create a logo. I just wanted to get some of the plans on paper actually in RCT3 before I spent time on little things.

The scenery on the coaster is in steelworks, Klinn's framework's Marmetmar's Egypt theme, Jcat's screamworx and Klinn's Electroshock set. The only steelworx I have placed so far is the lift hill there is a lot left to do which is why I have not shown the entire thing yet.

Thank you for your comments!

I'm intrigued by this park, I'm not exactly a huge fan of any one bit of it, but it's very interesting...I think that it could use a little less color for the flooring and either use a simple pattern or go crazy with the tiles, 'cause it looks weird at the boardwalk with little geometric patterns. However, the building that was referred to as "plastic," does indeed look a little "plastic-y," and I think it's because you only used posts and beams on the tower and bay entrance, try adding minute amounts of beams and posts to make it look more supported and less like "plastic."

It's nice to see a new member with a new park, and you should definitely have a park logo...if you don't have one, I can make one...I have the time. [Send me a PM if you want me to give it a go]

Pretty Good!! Unlike everyone else, I really like the building with the tower. It looks awesome with the posts as designs. I like your concept of the boardwalk, but it looks abit too curvy, don't you think? Oh, you also forgot to raise a wall of the boardwalk at about the Tea Cups ride. Anyways, it is a good start, and tone down the entrance a bit, please? ;)

I like the building with the tower too! It's very - Californian. And you're right, it's stucco :)
The entry does seem a little...bright.

OK so on to the controversial entrance plaza...

I can't put a billboard with the park logo in the center where the window is as that is actually centered over two tiles to line up with the torch. A 1x2 billboard would stick out of the roof and look pretty bad. I compromised by placing logos on either side of the ticket booths.

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc14.jpg

It seems most people don't care for the colors at the entrance. I don't even want to consider changing it however. Think about the word Fiesta. That is what I was thinking of in designing this entrance. A dance, a fair, a street celebration with lots of color and a mariachi band...

wow! i love all of the colors! it's looking great! honestly though, im not a fan of that wooden coaster... the colors look a bit strange and i've never eally been a fan of the "slope-steeper slope-slope-slope-straight" combination for drops... hope that made sense... i still think this is a great park though!

Progress continues on South Metro California

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc26.jpg

Progress continues on the themed areas and over at the port we are working on another themed attraction code named Disaster Area. The ride gives some nice nighttime perspectives on the laser and firework show.

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc27.jpg

The ride is a combination of indoor themed areas and outdoor track.

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc28.jpg

A lot of attention to detail is going into South Metro's first theme park. We have plans for a total of 4 parks to begin with each one will be slightly different with different rides and attractions.

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc29.jpg

an interior look at Disaster Area, police respond to a fire in the city.

http://www.foxsystems.com/images/rct/smsc/smsc30.jpg

The park has to look as good as possible and make money in the game so a lot of time is going into each ride to get good coaster ratings and a lot of planning went into how the park would be layed out. It is a bit of a departure from how I have done things in past projects but this park was not going to be another amusement park with some themes it was to be a theme park first.

I am flattered that it reminds anyone of anythign CircleVision has done no one has ever said that about a park I posted before.

Matadmel05: Those curved walls are custom scenery called trackbeds

I hope you all enjoy the photos. Keep in mind this is one of four parks and will be finished and if people are interested there will be a download. SMS California is probably about 70% complete at this time. This takes time I hope you will find it worth the wait.

There will also be a park in Georgia or Carolina, Virginia or possibly New Jersey, And one somewhere in the Great White North eh...

Here it is so far. I am hitting that slow point where all the ideas I had pre-planned are pretty much complete and I have to fill in the leftover areas. I am also hitting that point where I start to melt the graphics card so it gets slower, a lot more saving.

Speaking of the card it is an nVidia Go 6800 mobile 256mb graphics card. It does pretty well, gets too hot, the newer Sli cards are better.

I stopped updating this because the last update was literally shoved off the first page in about two hours from new comers wanting to show off their parking lots and users wanting to fill up some threads with their personal gripes about the habits of other users.

I figure if that is what people want to do here then that is what they should get. I stopped begging for replies. If no one cares to even post an "I hate it" or a "Nice Job" comment then I won't update my threads.

If you believe airing your private dislikes about the forum is a good use for other people's park threads then maybe you don't deserve updates.

There is a general discussion forum if you feel a need to complain about others here. By doing this in my park thread you push someone else down the board after all and for what? It’s less relevant than the post you are complaining about.

No. its not like it has been a week, 2, 3, or even 4 weeks since the last update. It was Six months. For some odd reason, no one replied since October, I usually go past the second and third page, but I guess people didn't want to comment on this for some reason or other. I know, the same thing happened to me with a park I was doing, because of something along the lines, and it has been something that has annoyed me, and many other people. Sorry to see that a great park got bumped off the first page, and its been just now that you get a reply on it, but theres one point there, where whether or not you double posted, you could have said that you were no longer working on it, or to post an update. At one point, people wouldn't care that you double posted, because at least the park has/had substance, rather than something that was totally noobish.

And if you're going to be an A** about it, then maybe you don't deserve replies.

Just something to think about.

I see,

So if I point out that I would prefer you not use my park thread as a gripe forum I am the jerk?

I don't double post, I have done that in the past but I no longer will because that is a real rule unlike the phantom one you are filling up my thread with.

No. It was the way you came across.

Although the 30 day rule isn't a rule per say

No kidding, I didn't even say it was a rule.

On topic, is there any real chance of you continuing with this? Or is this completely dead?

The park was nearly complete when I stopped updating the thread.

Now that you are back in the spotlight, some compliments.
Your lighting choices are sharp and colourful-well done!
I have been following your Great White North park, but your work on this park tells me that there are great things to come. I'm looking forward to them.
You have great imagination that should be encouraged.

Any tips on the great lighting you have done? I always have trouble with lighting.

Looks great!

a new coaster that needs lights.

http://kidfox.net/fai/images/lighting/light2.jpg
Don't be afraid of the dark.

http://kidfox.net/fai/images/lighting/light3.jpg
I try to place the spotlights at least one tile from what I want to illuminate.

http://kidfox.net/fai/images/lighting/light4.jpg
I will do the same thing for the Paradrop but since it is tall I use Vodhin's very high spots and place them two tiles away

http://kidfox.net/fai/images/lighting/light5.jpg
I tend to stay with color schemes I pick off a color wheel, I am using reds and blue shades on this coaster. The result is blues and shades of purple.

Really nice park. Like the way you used the track beds and like the wooden coaster though the colors are a bit strange.

Well; my dad's kind of an electrician so I really don't run into those problems.

Thank you SIR
