Hello all, I thought I'd offer up this pack of neon signs to light up your night-time parks. This is a quick set made over the past few days between work and other things (like other custom scenery sets!) and I hope you enjoy.

Hey Vodhin, are you going to take custom neon sign requests? I may need some that say certain things for my next park. Anyway, I like the tribute to the scenery makers! Maybe I can start up dabbling in custom scenery again. And be schooled by the master!

hey vodhin why not use this same idea for all sorts of differnt signs.what i mean is the neon signs are like a sticker that you just lay over any wall you want wright!!! . well what if you made ride signs the same way that didnt glow or just general amusment park signs.this way you can make the background what ever color you want.just a thought!!but great job with these.oh yea one more thing can you make these smaller?

These are great. I really admire the tribute, but I even more admire the way you really made them look neon (even in the day!) did you use SiOpaqueUnlit???? Great Alpha texturing as well, very precise.

You should have added yourself, you make some great stuff! (not sure what it would have said though.)

I used photoshop to draw and write the signs using fonts I downloaded last night. There are two images, the main on a gray background. I then took the image layers and made them all white, the background black to make the alpha. Both were then resized to 256 x256.

The signs are nothing more than a 2D plane, duplicated and reversed for the backside. I have 4 vertices at top and bottom tht allowed me to curve the planes slightly (or a lot- See here):

The neat thing is that the alpha mask apparently understands shades of gray to black- as a few of the signs were turned into black and white negatives to make the alpha, with very nice and smooth results- see ShyGuy's or Klinn's signs. And yes, I used the using the SIAlphaUnlit to get the glow effect. There is also a point effect behind each one, but I think I made the value too dim (02 instaed of 03).

BGTB2005 - I figure that custom scenery makers would be a more appropriate group to honor, especially since all their hard work figuring things out and sharing their knowledge helped me get where I am now.

Perhaps in the future I will make some for the park makers, but it would be .. odd. I'd think that park makers would want their own sign for themselves, but since anyone downloading their park would need the pieces too, it might get messy.

Perhaps there is a way to make a custom billboard using this kind of scenery piece, then anyone can make their own custom sign...

Hey Vod..hows my neon sign coming along! :p (Joke) I know this thread is kind of dead and I know I say this every time but I cant believe you have done this so fast-It has taken me 3-4weeks to get to the stage I am yet in about the same period of time you are making Alphas and doing neon lights with effect points. Geesh.

I know you guys will think I am nuts....but I just reloaded RCT3 and expansions back on my computer and am starting again. Where do I put all the lighting and signs you have created? I guess I am asking for the download path. I apologize in advance for wasting such space> ~Darrell

They go in the Style/Themed folder, found in the Programs Files RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 directory.

Excellent work, Vodhin. I think I will be including some of these in my Riverwalk Park as it gets built out. Oh, I did check your lights kit. Will come in very handy with all of the restaurants. Thanks!

Actually it's OK to bump in the custom scenery, if you looked at the forum rules.

Just quoting what you should have read in the guidelines:

What they probably don't like is people chastising members like what you just did.
