I believe I have figured out how to solve the problem of the irritating, non-existant 'unweld' function.
1. Make your object out of single-faced meshes. This solves the lighting problem.
2. Export the object as .obj and run it through UV mapper.
3. Re-import your object in another program (I used shade) and export it as .obj again, but make sure you click DOUBLE SIDED. This solves the problem of the dissapearing faces.
NOTE: Not all programs have the double sided function, but that's what you need to do. Also, do not flip the object on it's side. Make it normal, with the side you want on the ground in RCT on the ground in Anim8or. Lighting from lights (like DRP's) still does not seem to work. This I am still working on, unless anyone knows how to fix it.
I don't know if I'm the only one who has been having problems with this or not, but I hope this helps somebody...
