Welcome friends!

A newly formed company named SF Amusements (not to be confused with Six Flags) has recently purchased a large plot of land in the open plains of Nebraska, outside of Omaha.

There is little known other than scaffolds have gone up around what can only be speculated as an entrance building, and a large crane was erected to assist with construction.

As head of the company, I was the one who signed off on the purchase of the land. I was able to take a trip down there today and get a snapshot for you. The construction begins today.

The only relatively sure thing is the name of the park: SF Amusement's Great Plains Park

Thanks,
Josh
President of SF Amusements Co.

It was my opportunity to arrive again on site the next day. The building still isn't being constructed, but the supplies have arrived. Note the crates and boxes. You'll also see that the contractors have arrived as well as some workers to begin. We expect to be underway with construction very soon. The red Chevy Suburban is my car =). Enough words for now, here's an updated shot:

Out of Character Note: Due to real life circumstances, I will not be able to update the park frequently. When I do update the park, I will try and make it something big. Please do not be surprised if this thread drifts further back in the pages, I will bump it up to page 1 each time there is an update.

After a few days of construction, some serious progress has been made. The entire Park Operations building has been constructed! I am fairly pleased the way it turned out. It has been decided that we will continue with the "mainstreet" theme into the front of the park. The crane has been moved over to where the entry gates will be, and those are next on the list. Please enjoy this fabulous picture I was able to take of the newly constructed building.

Regards,
Josh

Excellent use of Main Street Pack!
The windows seem a bit repetitive, and try not to double post or this might get closed.

@ Skippytim: I meant to apologize for my double post. I just got too excited about the building. I know the windows are repetitive, but in my opinion when I had walls and windows spread out... things just didn't look very good.

Thanks for the comments too, I've never been much of an architect.

In Park News:
Construction is still moving at a nice pace. The entrance gates are completed where thrill-seekers can buy their tickets. The scaffolds remain in place as workers finish some detailing and small stuff on the entry gates.

I also feel it important to note that soon, in fact, the very next building, will begin to stray away from the aqua/white color scheme and enter into different colors. It will be nice, trust us. I just thought that the entrance should be uniform.

And, of course, here is a snapshot of the update:

Apoligizing doesnt always work. Dont worry, i'll give you fast replies on all your work. If I dont im sure someone will :)

Anyways I dont like the repetitiveness, I think you need to use something from another pack, and yes, I dont mind the color scheme that way for the entrance plaza, it keeps things clean looking. Also don't forget to use custom billboards!

One more update, I've finished the information booth and KFC restaurant. I plan to do most of the main front area with mainstreet theming, after that I haven't really decided. If you have any suggestions, don't be shy. I will look into experimenting with windows and walls on the park ops building (if you notice the Entry Gates, they aren't all windows).

Also, I will add custom "Tickets" and "Group/Season Pass" signs eventually, those were just temporary so I could move on.

And, in HUGE news... a large fence has been placed with "Danger: Construction Zone" signs up and two cranes. I also see some track pieces in the left hand side. Hrmm... What is up here at the Great Plains Amusement Park?

Again, the KFC's balcony things (WTF are they called) are repetitive!

im not sure that track pieces can sit like that w/out falling over. great work though.

The green and white buildings shouldn't have so much cornice. Real buildings don't have it in the middle, only on the top. I personally think the KFC looks fine, I'm just not sure it fits in, it seems too dark compared to the surrounding buildings.

And skippytim, I pretty sure your thinking of the cornice. PM me some time too.

I personally think this looks great so far!

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I think the green and white buildings look great. I just think the lower cornice should be removed to make it look more realistic. Your buildings are nice though, they have a ton of detail which I like.

From the desk of SF Amusements:

The new roller coaster has been constructed, with some slight modifications to the original idea. At this moment, no station will be constructed becuase we are unsure of whether or not the roller coaster looks good in the current area, some feedback would help a lot.

Name: Flash
Type: Corkscrew
Manufacturer: Arrow Dynamics
Location: Main Entrance
Colors: White track w/ black support
Train Colors: White/black
Train #: 1 (For some reason, I can't ever get two of them :bulb:)

Please look at the following snapshots I've taken of the ride, and give me your feedback. I want to know how to make it better. Also, I haven't ever used SteelWorx before, so I'm learning that. Our construction crew is ready to make some changes (if need be).

Again I stress, this is the part where I need my criticism. (Constructive, preferably).

Train #: 1 (For some reason, I can't ever get two of them :bulb:)...
I think I may have a solution. First add some block brakes and traditional brakes 1 track piece behind the station, and set them to a speed you want. This will serve as a holding place, or the final brake run before the station. Then check 'Block Brakes' in the coaster gear-ish menu thing. Then go to trains, and it should let you have more than 1.

...I want to know how to make it better. Also, I haven't ever used SteelWorx before, so I'm learning that...
Use support killers on the regular supports, because the regular ones look ugly IMO. Add footers if you want. Either use rocks from marnetmars leftoverz (like a few members have done), or you can use JCat's Blox set and use the roof pieces. Other than that, its all trial-and-error with what style of support will work with your ride.

The park looks great so far. Doesn't look too repetitive in my mind. Keep up the great work!

@Tyc00n10: Thanks for the block information. I overlooked that box, I remembered it being in the "Operating Mode" (continuous circuit, launched, etc.) menu from earlier RCT (I believe).

Also, the support killers worked and now I will be messing around with some support until I get it to look how I want

This picture features the newly constructed souvenier shop.

Also, to accomodate "Flash", the ticket/entrance gates were moved up slightly. Nothing was changed or damaged during the moving process.

From the desk of SF Amusements:

Park construction has been going extremely well. The weather has been nice, and delays have been minimal. I was able to take a helicopter ride over the park's land today, and it was great! The detail is a bit hard to see in my pictures, but I wanted the public to see an overview of what we have done so far.

Our next project areas include:
- Starbuck's Coffee
- Station for Flash
- Additional Thrill & Gentle Rides

Please note that it's not detailed this far out.

Josh

interesting, where is the Entrance at?

The KFC and the souvenir shop are too close together in my mind. The coaster shouldn't be there. It doesn't look right with the main street.

I was also concerned with the placement of Flash (the roller coater). This is why I didn't make a station for it, I had a thought that I would move it. Now where to move it. Hrmm.

And the reason the buildings are so close was because there was going to be an entire mainstreet there. I think the coaster will be moved and the mainstreet work continued.

Okay, in advance, sorry for the double post (I waited until this got to the 2nd page, so it shouldn't be TOO bad).

Construction has halted temporarily. For some reason, I get like 15 minutes into RCT3 and the screen goes black then it closes. If anyone can help me resolve this problem, please private message me. I haven't timed it, but so far the three times I've tried to work on the park, it seems I get to the exact same spot and then it closes. I've been saving very frequently, but nothing is getting done very fast.

Again, please help me if you can.

...weird...and darn.

Well I like the new shop, its better than the KFC

What I plan to do:

Save the buildings as scenery, then start over again, placing them in a bit better way. The file that is currently saved isn't working well, as it keeps crashing RCT3 after around 10 minutes... should be enough time for me to save the buildings (excluding KFC, I'm going to redo that).

The next updates:
1) Starbuck's Coffee
2) Improved KFC
3) Some sort of StrataCoaster (400 feet) that runs along the midway
4) The midway will split

Just some basics. The next update won't come for awhile.

Sorry for the delayed response, recent storms knocked out our cable and internet for a couple of days.

this looks really good, though i dont fancy the rollercoaster... yet. ill have to wait till the scenery gets in. and also. do you see al of those square shadows underneath the rollercoaster? those are support killers. your need to delete all of them (sorry), sink one of them under a support, place it, and then hold down ctrl and not let go while you replace all of the rest of the support killers. sorry bout that...

Fantastic Detail! Very realistic.
