UPDATE: 6/21/06 Download ready at RCT Revalutions tomorrow 6/22. Beware the alignment is off a little on some of the blocks, but i'm sure you will still find them useful. :D

Ok i was playing around with a lego cad program called leocad. I found that i can export lego pieces as 3ds and obj files to use in the game if i want. I was thinking about making a whole lego set. What do you think?

Blox comes to mind.

Blox may very well come to mind, but they are not exactly Lego's. They may be Lego similar, but can be used very differently than Lego's would be...check out what KiDFoX does with them. This could be a very good idea, but until it's done, Blox should suffice. You could even design your own style lego pieces such as diagonals or unique translucency. You could even give Lego Characters a try.

Blox works well as a very versatile and colorful set.
Lego's would work well for colorful and fun theming.

Give it a try Dkimber!!

Wait... you have a program that virtually builds legos, and you can get any of your creations from that program into RCT3? Can you create your own pieces, or do you need to use the pieces in the program? And do full sets work, or only single pieces? I think a recolourable set of bricks and specialty pieces would be great.

Yes LEOCAD is a freeware program which allows you to take pieces in the program and put them together in any fashion you want and then export them to 3ds or obj file. :D It's really cool. I will post a pic later.

How easy is it to get that 3ds or obj file into the game, though? I might have to take a look into this...

here's a pic. you would still have to texture the obj in Milkshape or something. and use bitturn to turn it into an ASE file just like any normal object, but it's well worth the result.

SCAREcrow22 - I got leocad at http://leocad.org/

Does anyone know how i can align the blocks with the squares in the game? I am trying to no avail. Also, does anyone know how to fix the texture so it doesnt have the shadows in it?

I played around with the program, I made a very cool thing but I had no idea what to do once I exported it lol, so I couldnt make it.

But a lego bridge for our waterways would be very helpful!

Is it going to be just bricks, or specialty pieces as well? I'm not sure what leocad does and doesn't have, but there are some pretty useful pieces.

This is what i have so far. If anyone wants any particular pieces. Please tell me and i will attempt to make them. I tried to make the lego figure, but unfortunately it was way too hard to map, so that will be a project for another time.

Are you going to make an expansion for this set? If so I would like to see horizontal and vertical gears. This pack will help for making actual lego designs. Thank you!

Dkimber1974
06-22-2006, 07:04 PM
Yes i will prolly make an expansion as long as there are people out there that want it. Gears are a good idea. I didnt think of them earlier.:D

If anyone else has any requests please let me know.

If you are going to do gears ,could you make axels to go with them? Also how many sizes are you doing for the gears?

Dkimber1974

So far i have axles (different sizes), plates and 7 different gears, and maybe a couple of tires if i can get the polygon count down.

Hmmm...whilst I dont think I would build something major out of lego for a park...I will follow this as I am very interested.

Have any of you heard of Lego Digital Designer? Similar to LEOCAD, but its the official program. Whilst it doesn't export (at least I dont think so) in 3ds...you can send your creation to lego.com, purchase it and they will send it to you for you to assemble.
