It has just been reported that a 12 year old boy died today on Rock and Roller Coaster. At this moment no details are known, but look for updates.
what is known is that upon return to the station, the boy was unresponsive in his seat.
Edit: From CNN: "Disney boasts of the ride on its Web site, "Zoom from 0-60 mph with the force of a supersonic F-14, take in high-speed loops and turns synchronized to a specially recorded Aerosmith soundtrack and zip through Tinseltown in the biggest, loudest limo you've ever seen."" Force of an F-14? 0-60 in 3 seconds is not equivilent to a carrier cat launch at 170. And it isn't even 60 anymore, I think it's been shaved to 57. But while I'm only guessing, I'd say that the boy had an undetected underlying health issue that might have yielded the same result if he were on the Tea Cups.

This sort of makes aoshi's thread sound satirical.:(

And they don't even know if he was riding alone or with his family??? Huh?

Read the warning signs before you get on a ride people!!!

Luckily, Aoshi's been dead for a while now. Probably as long as I've seen him posting. Even the Dead in Disney thread has been running for a long time. I hate when stuff like this happens. I hate that it makes me question what shape my body is in, and then I ignore my bad back and family history of heart problems as I climb onto TTD one more tome, or just have to have my kidneys shaken to extreme cause I just have to ride SoB. But worst is, thinking of Big Thunder,Hulk, RnRCoster, Mission:Space and know that people died on those rides that I've been on so many times.

Adults can decide for themselves wether they think a ride is too intense for them. A kid on the other hand is different. They don't know if they have health problems or not. And you know that a 12 y/o is not going to pay attention to any warning signs. He could have been epileptic and had a seizure brought on by the strobe lights.

Based on what I've read about the accident, the boy was riding with his father, so he did have family with him. It's a real shame that this is seeming to happen with WDW more often. I'm just wondering if the boy had some heart problem that hadn't surfaced previous to this that may have either caused or contributed to the situation.

I've ridden RNR and didn't feel that it was a problem, but I don't have any known health issues that would preclude me from riding it either. And I didn't think that it was all that rough. I've been on wooden coasters that beat me up more than RNR did.

so sad :( disney should take a few weeks off and figure out why they're having so many problems all of sudden. yeah most are rider error but things like the california screamin incident that wasnt the ride or riders fault that was totally disneys for changing the brakes without telling intamin first. another big one i remember was the btm a few years ago if i remember right that was also disneys fault for not checking the ride when there was a loose bolt or something. and instead of taking a few days just to say ok lest change the ride and then reopen it. take the time to see what went wrong TRY to fix it test it then reopen it. like those mission space accidents was there two or three this year? seriously close it down dont just go ok another person died lets lower one of the sides down and then reopen it. oops another person died oh well! its like disney likes having all these accidents. personally im not interested in going to any disney parks anymore and heres my 3 reasons... 1 i dont like the rides 2 it really doesnt seem safe anymore and 3 theres too many crying babies in there, happiest place on the planet my @$$. :haha: ok i admit when i was young disney was like the coolest place ever for me and i loved rokin rollercoaster at first, but now with all these accidents i dont even feel safe there anymore :( its a shame disneys gone from number 1 in my eyes to me actually being somewhat afraid of getting killed their. well disney likes those strange ways of thrilling people and death is a great way to scare you! :haha:

but this was the riders fault maybe there was some sort of health issue involved wich is probably the reason this happened so i dont blame disney this time but things like this should never happen in the first place

Lol, do you have any idea what you're saying...there is no way disney would shut down for a few weeks...and getting rid of M:S? People have died driving cars...should we stop people driving them...Disney have already made changes for people who are afraid they might die on M:S, they've already adjusted the ride enough imo...

These accidents are unavoidable. Disney is probably one of the safest mainstream theme parks there is! Of course, you need to expect more accidents to happen annually at a Disney park since they are so insanely popular.

yeah i know disney would never shut down even if some terrorist came in and blew up all the rides theyd still let people in. im just stating my opinion. i know theyve adjusted the ride...a little too much in my opnion i think it kinda gets rid of the idea of the ride so i dont think theres much point to it. im one of the people afraid to die on that ride i went on it once and im not gonna do it again i felt so dizzy after that i didnt like the small inclosed space either. they could of warned us about that b4 they started the ride. . . with disneys luck lately i wouldnt be suprised if i hear about something like.... BIG news the mission space ride at epcot center in orlando florida just had a huge accident one part of the ride came loose while spinning around and flew off!. just hope nothing like that actually happens

and no we shouldnt stop driving cars but for a ride at a theme park ( usually WAY safer than a car ) death should eventually cause an end. i give it two more deaths before i go and nock the ride down myself. :8:

^ I'm sure disney will love you taking a sledgehammer to rock'n'rollercoaster.

Statistically I think Disney is getting more deaths due to it getting more customers. Plus most of it's attractions are seen to be 'soft' and provoke a "surely this can't be that intense, it's at Disney response"

Yes, Aoshi's would fit well in that place.

What a shame. You go into a park to have fun and you end up dead before you leave. :(

Has there ever been an accident at DLRP?

A woman died after riding Indiana Jones, I heard that awhile back

Sad, but, not surprisingly, the autopsy revealed that the boy had a congenital heart defect.

yeah.. its a shame, i guess the parents didnt know. ^^But its the parents job to pay attention to the rides' warning signs, not the kids.

This accident was on the news a couple of hours ago where I am.

Of course, if the parents don't even know of the problem, the warning signs aren't going to help at preventing such a tragic loss.

I also don't see what the park could have done to prevent it, so I don't think it's right that they receive negative press for it. After all, should the park be required to give every guest a full physical examination before allowing them on any rides? That approach doesn't seem particularly practical.

The key thing to remember about a problem like this boy's... while the ride may have exposed the problem, had the child not gone on the ride, there's a good chance something else would have exposed the problem sooner or later. It may have happened on a bike ride, or playing baseball, or some other physical activity.

I feel really bad for the family, but, sadly, sometimes people are handed really bad breaks -- that's an unfortunate fact of life.

Very sad news.... It's always sad when an accident occurs at "The Happiest Place on Earth" (or any other place, for that matter). I just hope that the parents don't try to sue Disney, or anything, since it was unavoidable on Disney's part.
