At goliath at SFMM, a girl didn't sit in the seat correctly and jumped out (on purpose) just before the first drop. At least thats what ive heard.

Because of that, Six Flags retrofitted the trains on all three rides with an ankle holder as well as the lapbar. But Cedar Fair didn't bother to on Millenium Force.

There was that girl who fell 120ft from the top of Hydro at Oakwood leisure park. Not sure how she fell out though.

^She stood up

Stuff happens, you're more likely to get killed by driving five miles. Rollercoaster and thrill rides (I would say especially Disney) are some of the safest things in existence!

I wouldn’t always blame the parks maintenance. People are stupid, like why would you stand up on the top of a drop, or personally loosen you’re restraint. Then when something does happen, the family sues the park for their child’s (normally is a child) stupidity.

Agreed. The people who made the rollercoasters clearly aren't gonna be idiots. CyberLeader is correct. You'll have more chance of dying driving 5 miles than riding a rollercoaster.

I think I remember hearing a man fell to his death when his cable snapped while working on BBW at BGE. I also heard that the same thing happened with Ninja at SFOG.

I know this isn't true but I heard it not to long ago, and had to show it. One of my friend's told me that on Titan (SFoT) someone was listening to there Ipod on the ride. On the first drop the headphones got yanked out of her ears and rapped around her neck, and eventually strangled her.

You do of course know the REAL reason for Disney removing Horizons -

I died on Horizons due to excessive G-Force!

There was the worker at Lake Compounce got struck by dash (also a (some?) deaths by drowning in the lake)
Mindbender @ Galaxyland has that almost infamous crash, that led to it no longer running the fourth train.

Thats because nothing like that has ever happened on Millennium Force... and how exactly did the man on SROS get ejected from the train, was it his fault? or was it the rides fault?

You know, theres that one moment when you are tempted to do something really stupid. At least I have had that moment. Not anything like standing up on a ride, life-threatening stupidity, but little stuff. Last time i rode Pirates of the Cariibbean, I was tempted to put my had in the water next to the boat, where the track edge was. But I didnt. It really was a strong urge though.

it's hard to say, since he had some sort of medical condition, but I think he took his seatbelt off, causing him to fly out

It was a long time ago around 1993 to 1996, but this teenager decided to have a wonderful idea. "Hey! I have an idea. How about I take off my seat belt while I ride this ride!". This happen at Worlds of Fun on Timber Wolf, a wooden coaster. She fell out on the first drop. She tried to change seats before the train went down the hill.

And I ask, Why?

^ wow what an idiot.....didnt something similar happen on the matterhorn? like someone stood up and ended up leaving their head behind?

There was that dumb broad that stood up on Raven @ HW and got ejected and turned into a human pinball machine on the way down. Then theres the Asian kid that wiggled his scrawny butt out of the harness on Shockwave @ PKD to see if he could. Wonder if he realized that was probably a bad idea before he hit a support beam and died?

I think I read somewhere somebody stood up on SM and lost their head. They couldn't find the head...

Wouldn't that be creepy to see a dislodged head on the track of Space Moutian?

I didn't hear anything about anyone ON matterhorn, but I do know as a FACT that someone fell out of the ski lift that used to go up to matterhorn and back down. That's why the ski lift ride closed, it was built like a real ski lift but it DID have a safety bar, and someone leaned over too far! Some people ruin the best rides by not following the rules, if I remember correctly it DID say not to lean over, plus I think the person was really big... or maybe too small, anyways the point is that was a good ride that I miss.

you know that kid that died on rnrc? i was in the resort when it happened, my uncle told me, but i didn't believe it till i saw it on the 11 o clock news. also did any one else hear about the cable breaking on ttd? or is that a rumor too.

Haggath
08-06-2006, 07:34 PM
^ Dont know about the cable breaking but there was a cable car ride where a maintenence guy was checking one of the towers and the ride just automatically started. he went along with it. he held on for about a minute then fell 40 ft to his death. Infact yeah i do know about the cable breaking on ttd. it snapped and sent shards of metal into the air. all that came back was a train of blood covered passengers

I remember hearing that some guy wz on a B&M stand-up (not sure which one) and fell out because he didn't pull his restraints all the way down.

Most fatal accidents r people just being plain stupid.

EDIT: Yes, the cable did snap. Metal shards were shot out everywhere, and people were all cut up, I think 2 were sent to the hospital. I was there for CoasterCon XXVII, a week r so before the incident happnd. It was acting up, it was closed Sunday Night, ALL Monday, And Tues.Night. (When we had r ERTs). I heard they needed to get a replacement part from Intamin.

Sadly, KK's accident was worse because the brake fins were up when KK launched, caused a HUGE mess, was closed Jun6th-Aug17th.
