Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Indiana Beach in Monticello, Indiana. IB is situated on Lake Shaffer in northern Indiana. It's a boardwalk park which features rides that swing out over the lake, boat rides, boardwalk food, and musical entertainment.

The park has two flagship coasters: Hoosier Hurricane and Cornball Express. Both are designed by Custom Coasters International. Hoosier Hurricane was the first ride I road. It's a classic out-and-back coaster. The first few drops were over the lake, which was a very cool experience. The hills had some decent airtime and great lats. Hoosier Hurrican was a great ride.

Cornball Express was the second ride I rode. Looking at the ride, you wouldn't expect much. Nothing about it looks very spectacular from the ground. Once you ride it, though, you think differently. CE is one of the most fun woodies I've ever experienced! The ejector airtime on this coaster is insane. INSANE! Every hill has you flying out of your seat. The ride also has incredible lats. The last turn leaves your spine in a mess, but it's a good hurt. Cornball Express is one amazing attraction, and if you're ever in northern Indiana, you have to check it out.

The rest of the park featured your standard boardwalk faire...pukey rides, salt water taffy, a cheesy Sally dark ride, and really good food. Indiana Beach is a really fun place to spend a few days. I was pleasently supprised by the park and the quality of their two big coasters.

Is it just me or did no one sit next to you on any ride?

I prefer that way, and are adament to anyone I'm with that I ride alone - more arm room :D.

Of course, single riders often ruin that plan :sour:

Well, I was there with my dad, and those pictures were taken on my third rides on both coasters. My dad had ridden both twice and had a headache, so I rode alone. It's nice to ride with someone, but sometimes it's cool to ride alone. You don't have someone slapping you in the face with their raised arms the entire time.

Yes, especially with those rides where you have to sit in between someones legs or someone sits between yours.
