This might be a stupid question, but are there going to be any trucks, like the Ford Lightning or Dodge SRT-10

I would normally say no, just because turcks aren't really that fun to race, especially compared to all of the other cars available, or rumored to be, but I voted yes for one simple fact; realism. There are TONS of trucks out here, and customizing them is a huge thing. It seems like truck customization out here is equal to that of the import tuner scene in SoCal, it's pretty big. I grew up in Rhode Island so when I first visited here and saw these GIANT trucks I was in awe, I have seen some custom trucks back in RI, but everyone LOWERED them there (why, IDK), out here they make them HUGE, almost as big as monster trucks.

Not according to the Aussies here who now hold the record for fastest "truck."
Actually, here, they're kinda funny looking, but they're a lot of fun to drive.

I'd say no trucks.
My managing director imported a F150 Lightning from the U.S and sold it a week later, I also was'nt that impressed when I went out in it. Up to 60mph it was quick, but corners were a real no go. Unless your drag racing they are pointless, but hey thats only my opinion! ;)

Thats what we do in the US we build trucks and cars to go fast in a staight line.

Wuts the point of adding trucks and after a few weeks nobody will drive them anymore. Think about the Trucks in PGR2, GT4, NFS uderground 2, Toca etc. Point is Trucks get boring.

trucks take skill to drive isn;t that the pt more fun to drive not just turn a corner at 150 like a ferrari, challenges are what makes a game fun racing with the best car handling and speed is not as fun as taking a truck or big heavy car and puttig it thru the paces, we used to run stock dodge chargers on mco for fun, that was a hard fun race, even playing field and it took skill to drive same with the eldorados we used to run that was fun. Drivign a ta or cobra in mco took skill but wasn;t as much fun as running a lesser handling beast, that is 1 of the things I miss about not having mco dam u ea
timbuc40k/stoner/hammered from uptown
ps I hope tdu is 25% as good as mco then many of us mcoers will be happy and hopefully they add more 60's 70's muscle cars "the tanks that only go straight and it takes skill to make them turn"

Classic muscle cars also take a lot of skill to drive... they aren't exactly made for cornering. I wouldn't mind seeing an SRT-10 Ram, or Chevy Extreme in the game... but I really don't care, either. They wouldn't really be any good for more than just cruising... which I'd rather do in a classic car anyway.

i agree with gully completely, ya so maybe trucks sound good now...what are we going to do after a few weeks...is someone actually gonna want to race in a truck instead of a car? come on now, i guarantee only about 5% of u will want to do that, and the rest will get tired of trucks
say u have a ferrari, and u have that saleen f150, are u really going to drive a ferrari then drive a saleen truck for a few weeks and not have the urge to return to the ferrari to drive it cuz the f150 doesnt have enough power or good enough handling?

I would LOVE to have a truck...since I have one in real life. I have a F-150 and its a whole lot more difficult to drive than my dads car, or my moms jeep. I would like to see The SVT Lightning, the concept one is AWESOME, the SRT-10, the SS...I mean come on....the SRT-10 with a Hennessey upgrade can have OVER 1,000 horsepower. and they should put the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 in there....0-60 in 4.5 seconds....hennessey has gotten it to 0-60 in under 4 seconds :O I actually miss PGR2 b/c I could drive the Cayenne, the lightning etc.

I'm glad there will be no trucks... trucks were never meant to go fast, and no matter how hard you try, they will never be as fast as a good car.
IF there were trucks in the game, they should be there for BLING use only. I might drive a pimped out H1 Hummer or Escalade around online occasionally... but for the most part, trucks in the game would be useless.
Cameron H
08-19-2006, 10:28 PM
yeah so the Lightning can get 0-60 in 5.2 seconds...thats not fast? The SRT- Ram does it in the same time....yet thats not fast? They are just as fast as a Ferrari 456M...so thats not fast....I know that car was built in what? 1998? But its a FERRARI and its just as fast/slow as a SRT-10 Ram...The Jeep Grand Cherokee, I know its a SUV but still....Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8...0-60 4.5 seconds not fast? Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 0-60 4.6 seconds, not fast? SUV's and Trucks can be made fast, and sooner or later....they will be just as fast.

Try taking that same truck around a curve as fast as a Ferrari. Either you haven't driven yet, or you have never driven out of a straight line. A truck will NEVER be as fast as a car, ever, period. It is physically impossible. They are too big, and the center of gravity is too high. They will roll over before they make it around a tight turn. True speed is not measured in a straight line.
And in case you didnt' know... more and more road cars are now hitting sub-3 second times for 0-60, and sub-5 second times are now commonplace. So in light of that, yes, trucks are slow, even in a straight line.

and 2 add to what wildkarrde said
all cameron gave us where acceleration figures...so ya maybe the srt-8 cherokee can reach 60 in 4.5 seconds...wow, thats not as fast as a ferrari for one and second, will that same suv take the corners, reach the top speed and just feel as good as a ferrari would driving around the roads? i dont think so
so maybe suvs and trucks can accelerate as well as some car, some have the same horsepower...but do they share the same lateral acceleration? hell no, a car has a lateral acceleration of at least .9 g's and higher, at least the cars in this game do, a truck/suv has at most a lateral acceleration of probably .8 g's...because face it, trucks/suvs are big, bulky and top heavy
(those that dont know what lateral acceleration is it refers to how well a vehicle handles)

Well actually people have led you to beleive that ALL suv's are SOOOO easy to flip....like Jeeps. I have a Jeep, ITS THE WRANGLER THAT FLIPS EASY. Its so skinny and tall, The cherokee is actually quite wide compared to the wrangler. I sat mine beside my cousins the other day...BIG difference. Two I took a turn into my neighborhood today in my truck.....at around 30-35 mph....They can take turns. I have NEVER been scared to take tight turns. AND my truck is 4x4, so its a little higher. And A Jeep SRT-8
pulls .9 G's in Lateral acceleration....So yeah It can turn pretty damn good.
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Followup/articleId=108449
"With a vehicle capable of pulling 0.9gs of lateral acceleration (that's sports car territory folks), aggressively bolstered buckets are a must"
This cars latteral acceleration is in the same area as the
C5 Vette z06 (.97g)
Viper SRT-10 (.94g)
Ford GT (.96g)
and its only .1 g's away from a F430....and it cant handle?

Slalom? And if SUVs handle so well, why don't they enter in real road racing, like ALMS, SCCA, or Grand-Am?

I don't have a prob with SUVs, but don't expect to keep up with an F430 in the curves. Skidpad is just grip. Slalom is grip, transitions, control of weight transfer, etc.

OK people We all have different opinions, But I think the decision the developers make will be good no matter what.
I personally would like to see trucks in TDU. I have a list of trucks I would like to see.
1. toyota tacoma x-runner (it can beat a SSR on the track)
2. Jeep grand cherokee SRT-8
3. Roush F-150 stage 3
4. chevy trailblazer SS
5. Said saleen F-150
My opinion is that if they put trucks in the game, and you don't like trucks, don't drive them.

these ar the two types of 4X4s they should put in the game:
Trucks: Ram SRT-10, F-series, ETC.
SUVS: Hummer, Escalade (all models), Suburban, Expiditon, Land Rovers, ETC.
That way every one is happy. They should all be DLC that way if you dont wan them dont get as simple as that. All the people that dont want them stop whining there not going to bother you. I mean come on.

I say yes just because you should be able to buy any type of performance vehicle, if someone wants to drive a truck then it doesn't hurt to have a few more choices. But no street trucks, only the fast ones like the lightning ect. You're playing as a millionare, you're not going to park an F150 next to your Enzo.
