with the muscle cars in the game will you be able to get enough tourqe to do a wheelie like in MC3?

Who knows, but I doubt it.

I'm guessing there won't be either. They are all stock, correct? How many stock muscle cars do a wheelie?

I know the game has some arcade elements to it, but please.. do you have any concept how much power is required to make a car do that?
I've seen quite a few muscle cars in my time.. got some very powerful ones right here in town. Heavily modified for power. Can outrun most Ferraris in the quarter-mile. And they don't come anywhere close to lifting the front end.

The few muscle cars that can pop wheelies and they are drag cars.

Lifting the front end off the ground isn't necessarily a sign of strength anyway. I've seen many a fox-body lift one side of the front end off the ground when launching into a 9 or 10 second run with a heavily modified 5 liter V8. However, that's not only a showcase of how much power the car has, but also a showcase of how overpowering the motor is compared to the integrity of the chassis. I love Mustangs, but the fox body chassis dates back to the 1978 Fairmont platform and it wasn't the stiffest chassis ever. Sure, the x-bracing on later models helps, but it still wasn't ever designed to have 800, 900, maybe 1000 hp betwen its front tires. While lifting the front end up is a sign of a lot of power, a solid chassis that was specifically designed for this wouldn't do that ..
The Bugatti Veyron is proof of this .. it's incredibly fast ---- let me reiterate, incredibly fast, 1001 hp ---- yet I'm pretty sure when you floor it from a standstill it doesn't lift its front end off the ground. The bottom line is, any car that is engineered well enough wouldn't have this sort of horseplay happen from the factory. The Veyron's chassis and overall structure is engineered to accept its power. Cars that lift the front ends off the ground weren't designed to have that kind of power .. that's pretty much the bottom line.
Top fuel dragsters and funnycars are a whole different story .. I am essentially talking about roadgoing cars here.

It doesn't take an overly huge amount of power to lift the front end off the ground; the majority of it is getting the weight transfer and suspension geometry right. Me and my dad used to own a '64 Falcon and would drive it to the drag strip, run it, and drive back home, all on the same tires. Sure it had dissapointing 60-foot times, but once it got it, it flat got it, and ran mid to high 9's in the quarter. It had a full tube chassis, 4-link in the rear, an 850 hp blown small-block backed by a powerglide and 4:56 gears, and all steel to boot. Even with 850 horsepower and 800 lb-ft of torque, it would lift the front end off the ground a foot, and that was with the wheelie bars all the way down! Here's the only picture I got around to taking of it, which I regret to this day. It was so much fun driving out on the street, seeing everyone's faces, and getting all the thumbs-ups, man those were the days. But now I'm drivin' myself and can't forget that car. Fortunately me and my dad are building an even badder 1000 hp 8-71 blown big block that is going in a '47 Plymouth. Here are the pics:

Nice Drag car dude. Me and my dad have a 67 Barracuda. Is that Plymouth gonna have a Mopar in it or SB Chevy.
bigblazer87
07-25-2006, 12:56 AM
It's gonna have an 8-71 blown 462 Big-Block Chevy makin' a little over a 1000 hp on premium pump gas. I wanted to put in a big blown Hemi, but this way was way cheaper, so we're able to do crazier chassis stuff, like having the front coilovers lay horizontal along the frame, and we'd like to put airbags all the way around, but we're not sure how that'll hook up. It'll be fun though!

07-25-2006, 12:58 AM
Put a blown 440 in there. I dont understand you Chevy boys sometimes.
bigblazer87
07-25-2006, 01:05 AM
I'd like a blown Mopar, but the cost is twice as much compared to a Chevy engine of the same caliber. I can pick up a brand new 450 hp stroker small block from an engine builder buddy of mine for $1,499.95 with Edelbrock RPM aluminum heads. How much would a Mopar cost? Easily $4,500 or more especially with the aluminum heads.

True you have a good point. Anyway, will your car have all the electronics. Delay box Transbrake Linelock Three Step etc.

Its got a stock 440 Rons Alchohol Injection all Electronics. It runs 7:50s. Last year my dad was running 6:00s with a 480 CI Mopar. Im racing this year with a stock motor to get used to it.

It'll have a transbrake and maybe a linelock, but it's gonna be driven on the street a lot, so we can't get too crazy. It'll have mufflers, full lights, big radial Mickey Thompsons, etc. so that it'll be a nice driver when it has to be, but we're gonna try to get it to hook up as good as possible on the track; depends if we go with airbags or not.
I love that bodystyle of the Barracudas, especially because you can still pick them up for a decent price, unlike the '70-'74s. So it runs on alcohol? That's not a fun fuel for riding in, I found out when I was like 5 years old and my dad took me for a ride in his '69 Chevelle that had Hiborn fuel injection and ran on alcohol. I came back and my eyes burned like hell and was near crying. But that's probably because I wasn't wearing any safety equipment, and it didn't have heat shielding, sound-proofing or nuthin'. That thing must be fast though, do you have a 727 trans in that? And what gears are in the rear-end (in fact what rear-end is it)?
bigblazer87
07-25-2006, 01:29 AM
Oh, and what style rear suspension is it? And is this on 1/8th or the quarter? Thanks for entertaining all my questions.

I have a powerglide and a 9 inch Ford rearend. I think 5.11 gears. Its no way possible a street car.The achohol was bad when we put the stock 440 in there because the headers were 2 short. We put some turnouts on it and now you cant even tell its achohol unless your backin up. Its rumored to be the old Makin Bacon car.

Yeah, there are a bunch of morons and wanna-be know-it-alls who hate on drag racing and muscle cars on these boards.
No way! A vintage drag car! That's cool, it's like finding a needle in a haystack. So was the chassis and such already like that when you bought it?
Here's something you'd like to hear. My dad purchased a '70 Coronet R/T like 5 years ago with and original Hemi with a 4-speed, in a Forest green color, black vinyl interior, with AC, AM/FM stereo, rear defroster, column mounted tach, and a clock in the dash with the intent of restoring it, but as things go, we had problems with our home thanks to heavy rains that year and had to sell it. It was supposedly one of only 23 Hemi coupes made with a 4-speed, but then there are all of the other options, so it was probably one of a kind. You have no idea how much my dad regrets that thanks to Barrett-Jackson and the explosion in interest of Mopars and especially Hemis.

We bought the car the scooter and the trailer with everything in it (Generator Spareparts Battery Charger etc) for 26000. Since then we have bought a 2003 Pace with air and the cool uper and lower cabinets with generator door for 10000. We had to buy a generator and eletric tounge(sp) jack for it. Yes the car was complete and running when we bought it.

Wow, $26,000 for all that is a steal. You're lucky to get a clean 'Cuda for that much. I need to get a muscle car for myself; driving my dad's cars just isn't gonna cut it anymore.

Your not the first guy to tell me that. It weighs 2500 with me in it. Its all throttle no bottle.
That was a sweet Coronet to bad you didnt get to restore it.

Yeah, I've never been a fan of nitrous. It's either all-motor or supercharged for me. My dream car is a '67 GT500 clone (an actual clone, not an Eleanor) with a Vortech-supercharged 427 side-oiler built to rev and run on pump gas backed by a four-speed with a Hurst shifter. And for some reason I want it Metallic Forest Green with the green interior and white stripes. I don't know why, but I just like the color. Probably because it's not a popular color like blue, red, or black. Hopefully the '67 GT500 in this game will have the green color, and some nasty performance packages. What version of the game are you getting? I'm getting the PS2 for sure, but I might get an XBOX 360.

Im getting 360. I advise you get a X360then get Test Drive and PGR3
My dream car is a Plum Crazy Purple 09 Challenger with the biggest engine they offer.

Yeah, I've been on the fence about it. I guess money will be the answer, but with the price of fuel, and me driving a big truck with a big tank and a big thirst, who knows when I'll save $430.00 for the 360 and the game, plus tax. Maybe this Christmas or something, but then again I wanted a PS3. Decisions!

360 is better than Gaystation 3. The PS3 is way higher and the online play will suck. Hey thats my opinion.

I don't know what I'm gonna get, so I'm just gonna get the PS2 version, and after that, who knows?
I want a '09 Challenger too, but in Sublime Green with the 425 hp 6.1L Hemi. I'll add on an intercooled supercharger and a full exhaust, then drop it on some 18-inch Mopar Rallyes. I'll do the exterior like a T/A with the black accents, hood, wing, and side exhaust. On the inside, I'll rip out the back seat, sound deadening, and stereo and install a 4-point roll bar for a little safety just in case. Then I'll hit the track and hopefully run some low-11's on drag radials, high tens with slicks and tuning. But that's just a pipe dream until Chrysler officially announces production.

We indeed will have a 2008 Dodge Challanger, so its no pipe dream :D . I personally would go with the 70/71 T/A paint scheme (even though the RT scheme is nice too). Probably would go Hemi Orange:

Hi,
I used to drag race a 67 camaro 468CI 400trans/withbrake and 513. 600HP and would pull the front wheels about 12-15 inches. Now I am building a 1941 willys. Is there any drag racing in this new game.
