Super DBZ, the latest installment in the best-selling Dragon Ball franchise has received its first official review score from GamePro. Here is what GamePro had to say:
4.5/ 5
Winner of GamePro Editor’s Choice Award
Super DBZ is an awesome fighter which pays homage to the old school 2D arcade fighters of yore while also brining another engaging Dragon Ball title the PS2. IF you haven't owned any DBZ games before, this one is the one to pick up.

tru warrior, it all depends on what you expect from it, if its your taste of fighting game and stuff, dont compare it to the Budokai games because they have different focuses and goals, Budokai games try to recreate the show and story, thats their main focus, Super DBZ's focus is on making a traditional type fighting game based on the mangas fighters, if you like their focus just try not to compare and you should be satisfied, i'll try my best to pick it up and I know i'll enjoy it.....

IGN review disturbed me. They knew next to nothing about high-level SDBZ gameplay, yet the mark the game as a simple fighter. How can you say its a simple fighter when you can't play high level?
The only thing that they could review correctly was the graphics/sound/presentation but those arent the most important parts of a fighting game so thier review was way off. Gamepro's is spot on b/c its based on how fun the game is. Look at their review scale, funfactor!
Usually my opinions with IGN's agree, but this time I disagree. I don't think many fighting games can be reviewed fairly because to judge the actual system takes months, maybe even years. High-level tournaments and it's community is a factor as well, which doesnt happen overnight (which is exactly the kind of schedule it's staff are on when doing reviews for a game like this)
I'd say, try out the game, get good at it (no not figuring out all the moves and say you're the best) play other people, find out the best mind games for your character, maximize your damage, unlock your moves before you determine how good/bad the game's system is.
