To me, it's a better overall "game," which I prefer over a superior fighter. I'm just not all into pure arcade games. I'm still going to try this game out, but I'm not going to overload myself with great expectations and then be dissapointed, (Like I was with Tenkaichi).

If you want to play a fast paced Dragonball like fighter, play Budokai 3
If you want to play a game which simulates Dragonball perfectly, play Sparking
If you want a top notch fighter, that although may not simulate Dragonball like the other games, is still bloody good fun, then play Super Dragonball Z.
There all good (Well, exept Sparking) But Super Dragonball Z is my favorate.

Wow, I can't believe you guys are taking this so seriously, if I didn't know any better I'd say you guys had a hand in making these games. Besides the fact, most of you have seemed to forgotten something very important. You can't compare Tenkaichi, Budokai, or Super DBZ to one another, because they possess totally different intentions.

The ‘ORIGINAL’ Budokai was meant to appeal a broader audience to allow better sales. This is proven by the fact that Super DBZ has a few members within this forum in a panic because they can’t beat the game or pull of a large variety of the moves on their own. Not saying they suck, just saying that this game wasn’t meant to appeal to his/her kind of crowd. As they have found that the ‘hardcore’ Fighters are the higher crowd that buy their games, the makers of Budokai have had to adjust their system to fit demand. Thus, we are left with Budokai 3, and although it COULD (I’m in no way saying it is or isn’t) be noted as the best DBZ game of all time. It took the developers years to produce a system that would appeal to ‘hardcore’ gamers, totally straying away from their original plans of a general audience.

To those that feel Tenkaichi is better, let me remind you that it is more like what Budokai series was originally intended to be. A lot of cheap content, an easy to play system, to appeal to gamers that are not generally good fighting games but enjoy the DBZ series none the less. Its fan base has typically hated Super DBZ because they find it too difficult, or not enough of the ‘cheap’ content that companies have intentionally given them. Please note, I’m not saying everyone that likes this game is bad at fighting games. This is just a common trait found in more of its fan base, weak ‘fighting’ gamer/ general DBZ fanatics.

Super DBZ is a ported arcade game which means it was intended for arcade fighting and appeal to the “hardcore’ fighting audience. If you don’t like this game then you are obviously not a ‘hardcore’ fighting game fan. Regardless whether or not you have come to terms with it. It doesn’t posses a lot of content because more fighting game fans don’t need a lot of content, just solid and diverse gameplay. So, I don’t exactly see the logic in even attempting to compare it to a series that has years to harness its gameplay. Not to mention it was intended to appeal one type of audience. Remember I’m not claiming myself as a ‘hardcore’ fighting game fan, although, I enjoy this genre more than any other.

Although, I can’t tell you which one that will, most likely, feed your needs. You like Fighting games go with Super DBZ / Budokai 3. You want a lot of cheap content and a “get more for your buck spender”, go with Tenkaichi / Budokai 3. Maybe a total DBZ simulator or just generally weak at fighters but enjoy DBZ, try out Tenkaichi. I don’t think either game is better than the other. They all just have totally different intensions, and their fans should not be referred to as “morons” of any kind for enjoying one more than the other.

Super DBZ is awesome, the fighting is great, just practice. Tenkaichi 2 is going to be great as well, they made good changes.
