Has anyone heard of what all someone can do to the cars? Or is it just gonna be a kit? A lack of open customization will seriously hurt this game because everyones cars will be the same except the paint job and rims. Anyways if anybody has heard about how it's gonna be handled let me know

performance upgrades, cutstom paint colors from special shops, and custom rims i believe also from special shops. no body mods in other words :P
and if you want to "rice" up a ferrari, lamborghini, bugatti, mclaren you deserve to be dragged out into the street and shot. :dbz3_7:

I doubt there's much in the way of bodykits, seeing as how damage isn't allowed it's harder to get manufacturers to let their cars be changed.... Though it looks like you might be able to put wings on the back...so factory dress up kits, and wheels, maybe wings... may be the limit for appearance.

The only aftermarket things you can do are:
1)Buy a series of 3 performance kits. These don't include any exterior changes.
2)Change the color in a paintshop (No vinyls or that here).

I'm glad for no rice... although I do wish there were an extensive modding system, like in Gran Turismo 2. I turned my Challenger in that game into a monster! With the right driver (me :D) it could take on anything... but oh well. Hopefully the lvl 3 mod kit is extensive... I'd like to see a wide variety in car performance. I'm a bit sad to find out the engineering section of the game won't be extensive though. :(

I was really hoping there would be individual parts to buy, sell or trade. Rare rims or paint colours would also have been cool.

I thought i remember reading that there would be an acution option in TDU where you could auction off cars and performance parts....I remember it to be from a place that "knew" what they were talking about. CAn anyone confirm this?
If it is only three levels of performace upgrades thats kinda lame. Its not necessary to have body and visual mods, but being able to buy limited edition exhaust system for a Ferrari 430 would be cool.

The latest version of TDU didn't have individual parts, and the final versions probably won't either :(. The performance parts might have been on the to-do list for the developers, but might have been dropped like gas stations, and weather.

well from what i have read there are levels of performance upgrades in game like level 1 2 and 3, maybe there are special upgrades better than the 1 2 and 3 level that can be auctioned. dunno tho love to see a pc demo but can only go by what i read on the forums.

So you have to buy kits and not parts?
Does anyone know what the kits do? I would hope they would allow multiple part select for your own custom car, not premade kits.
Would be nice if stuff like this was added:
Suspension - different height adjustments, stiffness, handling, etc.
Engine Components: - Turbo, Intake, Injectors, etc..
Would be even cooler if you actually could change your oil when you want, take your car to get washed, go into different buildings, fill up your car with gas...

No, the kits are just overall under-the-hodd performance upgrades. All of the stats slightly increase with each upgrade you buy.

Three different kits for each manufacturer. But some cars, like the Mustang, can get different kits (Ford or Saleen), each with its own body kit.

Why can't they just combine like NFS Underground / DUB Edition body upgrades with GT / Forza performance upgrades and make everyone happy? So far I'm hearing no body upgrades and boring performance upgrades... Doesn't sound to appealing.

because nfsug sucks totally, and once again this is not a cheesy plastic body mods game this is a supercar game period, you dont put junk plastic fenders on your 600,000 enzo, or your mclaren f1.
should be happy there are upgrades and tuning for these cars at all since most of em there are none in real life, short of all out racing outfitting when they are no longer street legal.
so if you want to "race" honda civis, ford escorts and put plastic fenders and wings that do little to nothing on them go buy nfs.

You choose rims when you buy the car, doesn't seem like you can change them later. The performance kits are based on the real world and come in three levels. The Mustang has either Ford or Saleen kits, which do indeed have different bodywork as well, but I haven't seen any other cars with multiple options like this.
