i was reading on this one board, i can kick myself for not writing it down, that there will be an EPCOT West in Anaheim, CA. right next to the other 2 theme parks, either that or a water park in the strawberry field thing across from DLR. Can anyone confirm or prove that there is or isnt such a thing? i know for a fact that recently, Disney purchased a large plot of land, 40-60 acres of field, so there has to be something going up sometime!!!

That was a rumor about 15-20 years ago. WestCot as some people called it. I'd say it's not happening.

well judging by the large sum of money Disney Imagineering spent on DCA neither do i, but lets keep our hopes up and wish for the best.
And even if they did build it, what would they put in it? a mirror copy of Future world? theres still that to think about

large sum? DCA, i read somewhere, was the cheapest park to date! They ruled out a disneysea, because it was above the very small budget, so they created DCA. and yah, that was a rumor in the 80s. also, if you take a look at disneyland-area anaheim, there are no strawberry fields left... its all concrete:haha:

Isn't that field still there? Last time I was in Anaheim is was. Directly across Harbor Blvd. from the Marriott and the Convention Center.

I don't know anaheim exactly, but I wouldnt think that there is a field, just there in thr middle of the city. i mean, DCA was built on a parking lot, and they built a parking garage to make up for lost space. Where else could they expand?

Okay me being probably one of the biggest disney nerds on the boards I have to tell you about "Epcot West". The origional plan was for a new revolutionary Disney park project at the time called Disney Sea. It was to be built in Long Beach on that coastal strip of land, meaning Disney would of bought the Queen Mary, The Spruce Goose and Redo the Aqarium of The Pacific to a Disney theme similar to The Living Seas at Epcot. And They would of built a theme park which icon was going to be towering glass domes with a high speed rollercoaster inside and the Volcano (which is the icon at Tokyo Disney Sea) would of been a mysterious backdrop. The whole project was to be called Port Disney and it was Disneys most ambitious park project to date. With an estimated cost of over 20 Billion Dollars!!!!!!! But of coarse disney didnt do it because of the price and in 2001 Tokyo Disney Sea was built and it was based on the origional Disney Sea that was going to be built.
Because the Disney Sea project was scrapped they wanted to do a park that was cheaper and closer to Disneyland, Thus "Westcot". Epcot has Space Ship Earth, Westcot was to have a large golden spike. This too was a hugley ambitious project estimated cost of over 1 - 2 billion. But disney got cheap again and built DCA, which costed 400 million.
Amazing,
first it was Port Disney - 20 Billion Dollars
Westcot - 1-2 Billion
Disney's California Adventure - 400 Million
And regaurding the convention center parking lot. Disney was going to build a 3rd park in the Anaheim Convention Centers Parkinglot. But it was suposed to be built based on the popularity of DCA. Unfortunetly DCA's numbers were horrible and Disney realized that The Disneyland Resort was no Disneyworld in terms of how many parks to build and thus no 3rd park. BUT! There are rumors spreading about a waterpark thats going to be built in the convention center. Hasnt been confirmed but they are just rumors.

im going to disneyland this thursday, ill check!
BUT! There are rumors spreading about a waterpark thats going to be built in the convention center. Hasnt been confirmed but they are just rumors.yes, this is most recent rumor ive heard, i mean florida has 2 water parks, but the also have the humidity...and its mostly always hot there
in California, during the winter it can get cold, that might be a problem if they dont get that many people to visit the other 2 parks, and could lose prophit...
