View Full Version : Aceana's ESSENTIALS: Second pack soon to be announced!

Aceana

Aceana is currently...
... working on the next pack of ESSENTIALS. :)

Oct 1 06
Sorry about the delay, but I've been in the process of getting a new computer and decided to postpone work on the next pack until it was up and running. Now all I have left to do is aquire all the necessary files and begin working on the next set of Essentials. :)

Aug 1 06:
Oops, my bad! There appears to be some sort of limit to the size of the theme files, so Aceana's Pavement ESSENTIALS will have to be released in two seperate packs. The first is ready to go, and I'm finishing up the second. I had to make lots of pieces to ensure everyone would have that 'perfect' path texture, and it turns out...

There's over 100 pieces in the two packs combined!:D

July 27 06

I'm now launching my own chain of releases (like jcat's Worx) which will be called ESSENTIALS. The first pack is already under development, and will feature mostly generic items.

I'm currently working on making ground/path tiles, any suggestions. I will take almost any request that isn't a 'oh please make me this I really need it for my park' request.

how about curved paths?

^yes!

could you make a concrete road block type barrier, it would be very useful for blocades and fencing.

EDIT: Like this

Could you make them all conform to the terrain? Thats my suggestion.

Keckhs

Aceana, I can't believe you beat me to it. I was planning a set just like this, but the early bird gets the worm I guess. Good job so far. :)

Besides terrain conforming tiles, it would also be nice to see the tiles work when they are in the air.

StayingDead

How about some indoor floortiles like lighter pine floors or different woods. Because shyguys is so dark...

Aceana

If anyone knows the flag to make them conform to the terrain, I'll do it.

I'll get right on that wood texture...

I would definitely like the ability to have curved paths

~Coaster Kid~

an angled version of the wooden roof u made that would be perfect:D

I think the flag that causes objects to skew with the terrain is flag 13.

Everything on your list sounds great! I noticed Foliage compatable with ACCENTS, which also is needed, I really liked your Accents, but found them to be scaled a little too big for my uses...I was wondering if you still had the models for the hanging baskets? If so I'd love to see a second set of those scaled to about half their current size. That would give us lots of options with them. If you do foliage for the smaller size I'd love to see something that trails down like ivy.

-Nuclear Fish-
07-27-2006, 03:50 PM
I like the idea of curved paths like everyone else is suggesting... it would be great if you made some like the Trackbeds set which are the same shape as coaster the coaster bends... also, by fountain peices do you mean actual fountains, like particle effects, or things for fountains to shoot out of, like stands or bases for them?

rctman12
07-27-2006, 03:54 PM
what modling program did u use to make this can u tell me cuz i want to make scenery like the epcot ball and stuff like better space scenery or movie scenery like jaws and stuff

Aceana
07-27-2006, 03:55 PM
Wabigbear - I planned on doing that. The planters were big to accomadate the in-game scenery. Smaller scenery means smaller planters. I also planned on making curved planters (if I can keep the poly count down!)

Keckhs - I'll try that right now.

StayingDead - How's this:http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/8848/shot0078gh4.th.png (http://img49.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot0078gh4.png)

Nuclear Fish - I can't make particles, my computer crashes anytime I try. They will be covers for the in-game water jets I'll make to go with them, so you'll need soaked to use this set fully.

rctman12 - I use Shade. I don't recomend it to you due to the fact that it costs about $100. (I owned it before I started making custom scenery).

What about more contorl room based sceanery for rides and coasters ect.

what about the concrete barriers I mentioned. Have you decided to do them, or what?

Aceana
07-27-2006, 04:02 PM
^I'm making them. But a whole new piece takes a lot longer than two new textures.

Obi_Wan_Cannoli
07-27-2006, 04:04 PM
no, I know, I just wanted to know if you were doing them. Thanks! This is great! I've wanted to see this for a long time, but can't figure out how to import so I gave up. But good luck!

Mother f**kin' curved paths!

Someone said earlier that they should work like those track beds, which I second.

Since I asked in another thread, but nothing has happened with that pack, I'm gonna ask here. If its not too much trouble, I'd like a rock that acts as a speaker. For example, look at this picture:http://static.ubid.com/mgen/vximg/scale.ms?args=%224_700272050_0.jpg%22,400,400. Something like that would be nice.

I would find a white wood trellis very usefull, ive needed one for so long. you could make 1H, 2H, 3H, and mabye even 4H. If you find that too much work just do 1H. White, and kind of a woodish look. If you need more pictures, or better ones, ill get you them. Thanks in Advance

Yeah, as others mentioned, curved paths would be a good idea, since I already have Star field floor tiles in SpaceWorx (some requesters just don't look hard enough -- or shall I say easy enough). :haha:

Hmm...what really would be useful for darkrides, would be a rough cobblestone walkway with vines in it if possible, or a cracked concrete walkway.

I've noticed ingame there aren't really any extremely good ones.

JCat
07-27-2006, 11:10 PM
well its not released and it seems this may be released before yours

Dude, it doesn't matter - if she wants to make Star Field floors, Star field Refrigerators, or Star field peeps named Supercon007, that's all fine. Just figured, there's so many other types of items and floor textures that have not been made yet, and would benefit everyone in the long run. I assume simulated curved paths would be quite exciting instead of two folders worth of star field floors.

Sorry, nevermind. I do love your set, ive just been a little paranoid that its still not out yet. But i can wait

rctmaniac
07-28-2006, 06:25 AM
lol^ i think we all are. Curved paths would be great-but we cant actually make the peeps walk on them without needing a square path? so therefore you would still have a square path just with a curved cover on it
BTW-This is my 1000th post woop!

Spinout

^That is the whole point of it...to cover up our boring square paths.

StayingDead

Aceana that wood looks good but you can't actually see where the panels seem to begin and end it looks like one big block off wood. I was thinking that you could see the lines of the sepeate bit of wood ;P.

Aceana
07-28-2006, 07:36 PM
Jcat - I'm a 'she' (not that it matters, just thought you might like to know)

Maxxin - how about a lovely, flat, 2d grass texture?

obi_wan_cannoli - You're welcome.

Staying dead - There were lines between the pannels, but they seem to have dissapeared during the file format change.

For a park I'm working on I'd love to have some of the trees shown in the photo...even if they were done as alpha textures so it was just the black silouette on a transparent background set on half tile. The small boat in the front would be cool too as would the ferns. I've figured out how to make the cypress stumps, but something like the entire tree would be cool too. Maybe some of the spanish moss done as a alpha texture would work?

Who would use it? Someone like me... I'm doing a racing themed area... but I don't really need any special scenery. As for grandstands, you can make some pretty decent one using the existing custom scenery sets, as I have done here:

http://i7.tinypic.com/21cines.jpg

We really don't need a racing theme...

Aceana
07-29-2006, 05:52 PM
I'm not building a racetrack set. Like nuclear fish said, you don't need any special pieces for it, and nobody would really use it.

Anyway, I thought you guys might like this update:

Because without the .ase files to his pieces, it would be next to impossible.

I think he designed his to match the curves of the mini railroad. But since these have no collision detection the edges wouldn't need to match exactly as they would be hidden under the trackbeds...just be close to the curves of the mini railroad.

07-29-2006, 06:47 PM

If yopum are gonna try and make curved pathes matching up to trackworx, make them a full tile wide. That way we could make the paths wider, e.g. placing a small curve on the inside of a medium curve to make the paths twice as wide... if they were the same width as trackworx there would be gaps inbetween.

I don't know if you're still taking request or not, as I see you're working on path covers(they look great by the way) but if it's possible, could you maybe make booth style seating like in restuarants. It would also be great if they could match up with the custom scenery tables people have made. If making peeps sit in them is a big problem, that's okay cuz I just need the booths for show not for function.

http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/4660/shot0087rf1.th.png (http://img73.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot0087rf1.png)

A manhole and a drain...
http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/963/shot0088gl1.th.png (http://img123.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot0088gl1.png)

These are seperate pieces and can be used anywhere, even on other path tiles and the in-game surfaces. The glow strips light up at night.

Also, I am still taking requests for new textures and stickies like those shown above. Please don't pester me about the other requests, I'm getting to them. I just want to release this pack first. After all, I can only do one thing at a time!

Maybe you could have little pin lights to go around the paths. Similar to the glowing panels in your post above. Just a thought...

This pack looks amazing so far. I was wondering something though, are you going to be making the curved paths just one square, or are you going to be making some that are bigger, maybe a 2 diagonal square curve. If you don't understand what I mean, here is a visual:
The first one is what you have, the second is what I mean. Each square is a grid square. The red is the path.

^Light-golden mulch

And one more:

It would be cool instead of using grass under plants.

^^they dont have to be able to walk on them, you can put a large curve where it looks like it is part of the path, but still have the peeps walk on regular path.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry about the second half, I have to sort out that error before I can release it to you. It appears to ba a problem with the icons, though. If I can't fix it, do you want me to release it anyways without the icons?

Rapidshare is the only site I have access to, unless someone wants to host them elsewhere. Which I'm fine with.

08-03-2006, 01:34 PM
how do you downlowd it from rapidshare

Aceana
08-03-2006, 01:39 PM
When it links you to the site, scroll to the bottom of the page where there should be a 'premium vs free' list. Click free and it will say, 'requesting download ticket. Then play the 'type in the stupid, decorated letters/numbers' game and it will give you a link.

Hope that helps. I hate rapidshare, too. But it's the best/only way to upload my files.

Aceana, on the space tiles, do they have space on the underside too? Also, with an inside ride will it be dark or do I need to use the normal darkening tiles?

Thanks in advance

08-05-2006, 08:53 PM
Thanks everyone. I had hoped this would be a good/usefull pack.

No, I can't seem to get a site that isn't rapidshare to work for me. However, I know there are some fansites that host my objects. You might want to look out for them, as they ought to work for you. If I happen to find one, I will post links to them here.

RCT-Spanky - What little black gaps?! I know the pieces don't align quite right, but that appears to be an in-game glitch, as they lined up before I imported them. (RCT has a tendency to 'fix' the alignment of some objects.) But other than that, I thought I had worked out the all the issues.

I am working on the next pack, but I won't be announcing what it is for a while. But if anyone had some re-colorable texture they've gotten to work that they were willing to share, that would speed up the process a bit.

I got the same error, your not alone, something must have gotten messed up. I forgot how I got past it and it might not be the same for all downloads but try these steps.
1. clear your cookies
2. assuming you don't have a static address, disconnect and reconnect your modem (so it picks a new ip address)
3. make sure your registered
4. put up at least 1 post, a comment on the scenery is fine

if you do those 4 things, you should be able to download I think.

okay im think im a little confused with this download....
the net-on one is the only one that still works right?
and for the download to work do i have to download the net-on program?
cause when i click the download (its labeled "download 1 server") it downloads something like "net-on set-up 101" and when i click it, it initiates a installation setup...
so is this the set or a program to use a set that i still have to download?
