Phil

I've been looking through the custom scenery request and all it is is just random objects. I was wondering if anyone had any sets that I can make? Also, possibly any more ideas that others could make?

Post any requests that aren't a set, and you are stupid :o:up: ;)

I like these ideas but for the racing one I am just thinking how many people would be using the set.

Washmachine you've got a good idea there too but I would need a whole list of stuff first. (Havn't really thought yet, still looking for ideas.)

their is many random peices of winter items around mainly from vodhin and im starting a bit of winter stuff probably wont do anymore though, ive got a snow man, snow path cover, and then the snow particle ( im planning on a snow storm effect and maybe snow makers for like fake snow on mountains ) i agrea though, an entire winter theme would be great to have.

Phil: I'd love to see your wooden triangle supports expanded to include the same pieces at 45 degree angles. It would nicely round out the set, and make supporting curves so much cleaner!

What about an ancient Greek and Roman theme? The Atlantis one could be used for classical architecture, but it is not exactly it. RCT2, I think, used to have a lot of pieces. We have a couple of scenery items in vanilla RCT3, but that's all.

For walls, you could get inspiration from numerous sites on the web on ancient Greek and Roman buildings, although, for variety, you could also search for the ancient Mycenean and Minoan civilisations, which predate the classical period. You would also need to create some columns, obviously, similar to the ones from the Egyptian theme from Wild!, but with classical decorations.

As far as single pieces are concerned, miniatures of the Parthenon and the Colosseum would be useful, along with any other famous monuments you can think of. As a matter of fact, you could also create circular wall pieces for the creation of the Colosseum that I am sure would be useful for the construction of non-classical buildings as well.

You could even go as far as creating benches and bins. Finally (and here I stop), you could even add some trees (like the Mediterranean pine tree) and plants (vineyards?) as well.

Anyway, just a suggestion, in case you are interested.

I second this. It would really make themeing easier for us that like to make adventure-themed areas. Not too many people have made ANY adventure custom scenery like what is stated above, and it is a very missed theme from RCT2. At least, I miss it, anyway . . .

Too add onto what apet said, it would be extremely awesome if you could make greek artifacts and busts of the greek gods. Some more 'scenery' objects instead of JUST building materials. The scenery is pretty lax in the game as it is . . .

So . . . I'd just rather not see you do a set that makes parks look more 'realistic' like Six Flags-type stuff. Really, it's getting to where I'm in over my head in that kind of stuff.

Edit: Oh yeah, glad to see you back in the custom scenery biz, Phil. :)

First of all, rctlil'man, thanks for your brilliant suggestion and all the pictures provided and I hope someone else picks it up as I have decided to go along with this Ancient Greek and Roman theme.

Apet08 and Boston, thanks for your ideas. It'd be awesome if you were to be able to provide me with some pictures and the like (I will be looking aswell ;)).

Hey Phil how about looking at Tycoon zoo 2 and getting some ideas for vendors carts? Plus a Brat cart and gryo cart?? That would be handy. Even thou it is just decor maybe someday they will figure out how to make shops and then all you would have to do is convert over.

OK then, I will start with the Minoan civilisation first and then keep editing this post. I will be posting mainly Greek pages, since these are the ones you will have difficulty in locating.

This page (http://www.dilos.com/location/13370) contains some nice pictures, including an artist's impression of the Minoan palace. It will give you some ideas for walls, in case I don't find anything useful from the classical period (as I said, this period predates the classical one). You might be interested in the frescoes, like the one with the dolphins.

Check out also these two pages (1 (http://www.nyloo.com/html/ent/132/ent.8132.2.asp) and 2 (http://www.4crete.gr/creteguide/mythological.htm)) for the bull's head, the symbol of the Minoan civilisation. This might actually be useful as a decoration for any building, not necessarily a Greek or Roman one.

Fresco for a wall maybe? (http://www.4crete.gr/creteguide/musia.htm)

You might also be interested in these two statues (http://www.4crete.gr/creteguide/historical.htm). The second one, ie. the naked woman in front of the basin, could become an excellent fountain, now that hotroddude has created some interesting particles...

The last picture (http://www.uk.digiserve.com/mentor/minoan/knossos.htm), an ornamental design built at the edge of a roof, might be easy to make (I don't really know, I'm not a modeller) and, again, could be useful for anything.

These two sites (1 (http://www.uk.digiserve.com/mentor/minoan/phaistos.htm) and 2 (http://www.uk.digiserve.com/mentor/minoan/knossos2.htm)) could give you some inspiration for ruined walls.

Finally, plenty of pictures to be found here (http://www.daedalus.gr/DAEI/THEME/Knossos.htm).

On to the Mycenaean civilisation.

1 (http://users.ach.sch.gr/akalant/net/mykinaikos/anaktora.htm), 2 (http://users.ach.sch.gr/akalant/net/mykinaikos/tateixn.htm), 3 (http://users.ach.sch.gr/akalant/net/mykinaikos/tafoi.htm): these pages contain interesting pictures of walls.

Some frescoes (http://users.ach.sch.gr/akalant/net/mykinaikos/texni.htm) again.

An excellent site (http://traumwerk.stanford.edu:3455/Archaeopaedia/143) in English; go to the bottom of the page and follow the links to architecture and art for pictures and inspiration.

One last site (http://www.ou.edu/finearts/art/ahi4913/aegeanhtml/mycenaen.html).

(I will stop for the moment, but I will edit this post, when I find useful pictures for classical Greek and Roman architecture and art, which will take more time than it took me to find these pages. But since the web is abundant with sites on the classical period, I'm sure you will be able to find interesting stuff yourself until I post again.)

[EDIT: classical Greece]

First things first: columns. If anything, I think these are the most important pieces of a Greco-Roman theme. Here (http://www.crystalinks.com/greekarchitecture.html) you will find sketches of the three ancient column styles. This (http://atheism.about.com/library/FAQs/religion/blgrk_temples03.htm) is another place. Also, go here (http://www4.bfn.org/bah/a/DCTNRY/doric/index.html) and follow the three links in the second paragraph for yet more pictures. I suppose the Corinthian style would be quite difficult and cause lag, but the other two styles may be possible. And another site (http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesArticle/id-1471.html). Here (http://users.ach.sch.gr/pchaloul/arhaiki-tehni/ionikos.htm) is a picture of the ionian style, rather than a drawing. Finally, from here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ionic_order) you can follow the links to the other two styles (and yet more pictures).

I'm leaving out the Parthenon (and the Colosseum), since it is too easy to find pictures of them on the web. Instead, these two sites (1 (http://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CE%9D%CE%B1%CF%8C%CF%82_%CE%97%CF%86%CE%B1%CE%AF%CF%83%CF%84%CE%BF%CF%85) and 2 (http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Greece/Prefecture_of_Attica/Athens-426812/Things_To_Do-Athens-Thision_Temple_of_Hephaistos-BR-1.html)) contain pictures of other temples.

What you might be interested in is the Karyatides, statues that act as columns (pictures here (http://www.dpgr.gr/usergalleries/displayimage.php?pos=-24179) and here (http://www.sikyon.com/Athens/Monuments/erectheion_gr.html)).

Three sites (in Greek, I'm afraid) with plenty of pictures of (mainly) statues: 1 (http://www.e-yliko.gr/Fyyl/Istoria/fiiconcclas1.htm), 2 (http://www.e-yliko.gr/Fyyl/Istoria/fiiconcclas2.htm) and 3 (http://www.gre.ac.uk/~L.Filippidis/Arxaia/Delphi/Delphi.html). Be brave and try some of the links in the first two sites, even if you can't read Greek; some of them lead to museums (not Greek ones and, therefore, in English) with yet more pictures for inspiration.

Although that could be tough, you might want to create some pieces for an ancient theatre. If so, you can look at these pictures: 1 (http://www.culture.gr/2/21/211/21104n/g211dn02.html) and 2 (http://www3.ellinogermaniki.gr/ep/asklipieia/theater_arxaiath_dodoni.asp).

This structure (http://www.sikyon.com/Delphi/Monuments/delphi_gr02.html) at the oracle of Delphoi (another photo (http://www.geocities.com/artofwise/AncientTemples_Delphi.html)) comes from a later period, when Greek and Roman styles started to merge and could, therefore, inspire you for Roman architecture as well.

Picture of the façade of a Greek inspired tomb (http://www.renaudvisage.com/fr/image/LO100032_Monument+des+N%C3%A9r%C3%A9ides+au+British+Museum+Londres+Angleterre.aspx), now shown at the British Museum. Speaking of which, you might want to visit its site (together with that of the Louvre), because you may find more pictures there of Greek and Roman art.

I know I said I wouldn't give you any links, but I found this site (http://www.goddess-athena.org/Museum/Temples/Parthenon/index.htm) on the Parthenon that contains quite a few pictures, so, there you go!

Finally, this site (http://www.teacheroz.com/greeks.html) contains links (under ART & ARCHITECTURE) that may prove useful. I don't know, cause I haven't visited them.

Anyway, that's it for Greek structures. I don't know much about Roman structures besides what your average tourist knows, but, if you want, I can do some research, even though my knowledge is limited.

Mmmhhh .... just a question to all requesters. If you read this thread complete, you will find out that Phil has started with a classic greek/roman theme.

So why don't you add your additional request in the "Request Custom Scenery"-Thread?

Phil, just a "simple" request for the greek theme.

Could you also add a simple dome (maybe re-colourable) for some greek church- and monastery buildings like this:
http://www.abiyoyo.com/grecia/islas/santorini/santorini2/santorini2.jpg

Here is another picture with the domes from the Europa-park in Germany
