Atari, Inc. and Obsidian Entertainment are pleased to announce a closed public beta test for Neverwinter Nights™ 2 for PC. Neverwinter Nights™ 2 is an extensive role-playing game that employs a rich single-player experience, a toolset for creating custom adventures, as well as a multiplayer component where adventurers can team up and explore the world of Faerun as a team! This sequel to the original award-winning Neverwinter Nights takes advantage of the new “3.5 edition” DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® rule set while also utilizing an astonishing new 3D graphics engine. Neverwinter Nights 2 is set in the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Forgotten Realms® universe created by Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS)

This closed public beta test focuses on the game’s toolset, which allows you to create your own modules and play your own adventures in the world of Neverwinter Nights 2. This is going to be a very limited beta test, which means only a small number of people will be selected to participate.

This beta test will comprise the Toolset only, the purpose of which is to get your feedback on hardware compatibility testing, testing of all Toolset features, and also general functionality testing. Please remember that if you are selected for this beta test you will be under a strict non-disclosure agreement (NDA) which means you cannot discuss the product outside of our dedicated private beta forum at www.ataricommunity.com.

At the present time, we are without our www.betatests.net site; therefore sign-ups will be handled a little differently for Neverwinter Nights 2. In order to sign up for the beta, please visit the below URL and be sure to fill out all of the required information.

I refuse to believe these posts are read so few times. It might simply be too early though.

Betatesting the next generation of the NWN toolset should be considered a great honor!

Every requirements in both the toolset beta and multiplayer beta test announcement seem to fit me perfectly. It is simply such a shame the automatic sign-up webpage allows only 255 characters, although the limitation is there of obvious reasons.

I will have to do as the rest, wait and hope for being selected. :atari:

Hi! Finally something I can do... :salut2:

Please put me in... I've already signed up, but could we do an under the tables deal, please, just like with the other BTAs...? :turning:

I've dealt with a lot of scripting languages, and I can tell how NOT to do one. I can find the bugs, in the "mapmaker" and the script functions themselves, easily...

Also, the option with the 128MB video memory thing doesn't have a way to input 128 megs.. it's either less than or greater than...

Agamemnus, I believe many people here are able to do scripting. Many people has experience with Aurora Toolset from Neverwinter Nights (1). Have you seen http://nwvault.ign.com ? There are many thousands of scripts written by community. I think admins will have hard job to choose who is the best for this project. I believe, here are many skillfull people who have very good know how and experience with.

I wish you luck and I hope I will be in this beta-test too ;)

Nice,

Signed-up. Also question. If you make a module with the beta toolset, will be compatible with the final version? This would save me a lot of time.

Yeah, I just put less than cause the chips are generally smaller than rated these days :S hope it doesn't effect their reviewing my beta application

If you have 128MB on your Vid card, then just put Greater than 128 :)

Can't change the sign-up form now. It's a bit too late.

It's ok, as you said in the other thread I could redo it with another email. So I've re-signed both of them with my unmasked ISP email.

Alleyslink reporting for duty. Experienced NWN modder. Long time CRPG player. Forgotten Realms Lore Master, (kinda). I am ready and willing.

The link in my sig is to my PW module on the IGN Vault. Check it out if you have NWN.

The beta test is already over?

I just got a message about it today from Atari, I clicked on the link and it wouldn't allow me to access it -- now, when I click here it reads "The Toolset Beta Test has ended." That's disappointing. *sigh*

I guess there's not much I can do here, then. Maybe I'll get in on the Multiplayer side then? *shrug* I really wanted to test the PW stuff -- I already found one bug at GenCon 2006 while playing with the resizing of NPCs in the Toolset.

If you hear anything, let me know!

If the beta test isn't over, then I got a bad link in my e-mail from the Atari betatestadmin. I sent them a reply, hopefully they'll send me the correct link this time.

I believe, beta-admin has a list of people, who has been chosen for this test and he will grant access automatically. But I think it is kind of you to reply and say thanx ;)

Is choosing of members for multi-player beta test over too, or just for Toolset?

Depending on how many people got accepted into the beta, Betatestadmin may be spending a good chunk of his/her day adding people to the forum groups ;-)

Definitely looking forward to picking apart the toolset!

So I assume everything is still a :go: for beta tests on the toolset? Will the beta test start on the first of next month? I am going to schedule some time off from work as I have been eagerly waiting to script with this new toolset.

Yes, definitely still a go.

The message is wrong. Looks like we had some crossed wires communication wise. I'll get it fixed ASAP.

It should read "Sign-ups are closed".
