I decided I wanted to get into the custom scenery making trend, but I need serious help. I have Anim8tor, Biturn, and jonwil's stuff, but I am confused on how to actually do things. As I understand it, I create the object in Anim8tor, change it in Biturn, and import it but I do not no the specifics. Could anyone help?

The only help you will get is 'look at the stickies' you will not get a simplified version unless you post something specific! It worked for me!

The problem is that most of the tutorials deal with milkshape, not Anim8tor. My main problem is that I don't know what to do with my model.

My sticky may be able to help you. (May be outdated though.)

I reread it, but became confused at UV Mapping. What the heck is it?

You may want to look more into it by searching it on google or something. I could but don't really want to give you an explanation when a far better one if out there somewhere :)

Anyone heard of Mapping Magician? It was the first thing google popped up.

Ok, now I think I get it. Is that what the pic editor (like the GIMP) is for?

GIMP is used to create textures - e.g. wood for a floor, stones for a wall, etc.

So I would create an object, UV Map it, then stick it in the importer for a spin?

Sort of.....but you missed a stage.

You need to createan object, make some textures, UV it, then put it in the importer.

A lot of people recommend UV mapper, but I haven't ever got it to work in rct3 (and i've tried many times). As far as I know no one else has either.

Anim8or does have UV mapping built in, but it dosn't curently allow the use of 8 bit bmp textures (the importer/rct3 requires 8 bit bmp), so you need to use a bit of a workaround there.

The anim8or UV does work correctly with rct3 (i've tried it) but it's a bit of a long process to get everything to work properly.

the work around is making the texture in jpg for anim8or and then converting it in paint to bmp :)

Remember-you need to convert the obj to ase in biturn first.

meh same thing, i use 24 bit bmp and then convert to 8 bmp, but if you prefer jpg thats your choice.

I choose the higher qualitly format by habit always..........

As rctmanic said use .Obj - You can use .3ds but the x/y/z gets messed up - an anoyance rather than a problem - but it's easier to .obj. Seems to give less errors too from experience.
