:sour: Ok, the only reason I bought this game is to be able to cruise around the island with my friends and have fun. After trying to find each other while sitting in the same spot for over an hour I couldn't see him and he couldn't see me. I saw a whole lot of other ppl but I couldn't see my friend. Now this kind of multiplayer does not interest me at all because if I see one person, there is a possiblity I will never see that person again. Before I bought this game I was reading that all of the ppl are going to be driving around the same island and interact with each other. I don't think the multiplayer works the way it should. The creators should've launched several servers like in many other Massive Multiplayer games so It wouldn't create over population, and I would be able to see my friend. Please fix that. Make this your first priority because it really is a huge deal for a LOT of ppl. Your friends should be the #1 ppl on the list when you cruise around the city, not some guy from London who you don't even know, while your friend is sitting on his couch 10 blocks away from your house.

Some of that could be related to the server "issues" they have been having.

I am sure that the reason the servers have been down so much is that they are trying to work some of the kinks out of the system.

What you are complaining about could very well be one of them.

I am willing to give them a week or two to get things working properly. after that, I think it will be open season on the devs if this kind of stuff is still an issue. ;)

I personally think that when you set your filter in the gps to see only "friends" it should apply to the people you see on the streets too! not just the GPS.

man i had this problem, and i get it fixed! My friends had a router that was restricting the connection!!!! To test this go to the Dashboard and do the Xbox live Test connection, after it runs, on the bottom will the NAT then it will say Open, Moderate, or Strict. Ok you NEED it to say OPEN!!!!!! if it is anything other than open, then you need to change some settings in your router. you need to open up the UPnP ports in your router and hit apply!! then test it again in the dashboard, and it should say OPEN. If you want to chat on live just add me as friend and i can help you or other with this issue.

Hope this helps

I
I’m getting very annoyed with this system too. I try to cruise around with people but barely see anyone. I can be cruising and see people just disappear while we are chatting and cruising together. And that’s on the rare occasion that they are there long enough for me to drive and talk with at all. This game being billed as “M.O.O.R.” is false advertising. I don’t care if it somehow falls into that category; it isn’t an M.O.O.R. by any stretch of the imagination. Not yet at least.

And if this is due to kinks to work out being that it was just released, then it had to be apparent during beta testing correct? Why release an unfinished product? Testing is supposed to catch problems this bad before the game ships. As of now it is essentially unplayable online. I will not support the companies involved in this venture by buying future products if these “kinks” are not dealt with in a timely fashion.

I will usually just retry. click on their name a few times in the 'find friend - players' and it usually comes up after a couple.

I still hope they work this out though, but Im sure were just beating a dead horse.

Prove me wrong devs' :) I love this game.

Actually I had problems with this for awhile and strangly enough yesterday I was having no trouble at all. everytime I went to my friends location on the map we would find each other and we cruised for about 1 hour around the island until I had to go. Maybe it was just one lucky hour I am not sure. (even went in and out of car dealerships  ) It was strange maybe just incredibly good luck but hopefully this is how it will be working all the time in the near future.

Nice attempt, but my setup is tip top, my NAT is listed as “open” and even connecting straight from modem to Xbox still produces the same crappy results. I have tested my connection for speed and packet loss, but everything is fine on my end.

C’mon guys, get your act together before I give up on this game. I just can’t understand how beta testing didn’t see these problems before launch.

MOOR stands for massively open online racing.

- It IS massively open.
- It is online.

So yeeeaa... its not false advertising.

Well I understand why your faustration I can tell you why its hard to detect in beta testing.

They don't have 50,000 or more employees to test this.

That M.O.O.R. billing would be correct if the game did what it said it was going to, but It doesn’t. Therefore at this point in time the game IS NOT massively open online racing. After these supposed “kinks” are worked out hopefully it will be.

Only seeing SOME of the players SOME of the time does not add up to a M.O.O.R.

So yeeeaa… it’s false. For now anyways.

You're an idiot.

MOOR probably means 2 things.

M.O. = massively open.

O.R. = Online Racing.

How in the hell is this false? It is frickin massively open.. and it is fricken online racing.

You tard.

Completely understandable. I know that there are thousands more players than in testing but I can’t see that as an excuse. That means to me there was inadequate testing.

I’m not trying to bash the company nor the game, I love the game. But unfortunately I love the game for what I HOPE it will be and not what it IS. Considering the large number of games that have similar problems upon release I just wonder when the game industry is going to get it right for a change instead of having to scramble to release a patch after a games launch. Buying a working product shouldn’t be too much to ask for.

Dude STFU.

The game is BARELY online is what I’m saying. Seriously, there are enough complaints here to prove my point. As of the condition online I’m calling it false. Seeing people for a few minutes at a time isn’t like any other massively online game I’ve played up to this point (I.E. World of Warcraft, Eve)

If it doesn't work then how did we take those pictures of those bike jumps in the other post! i cruised with them for about 4 hours yesterday!!! i know what i'm talking about!! maybe you are having issues but its not the games fault. check your network connection, bet you not set to OPEN!

Rolledtight
09-11-2006, 01:19 PM
Yup. I checked it when I read your post and it is set to “open”. I also checked my speed and ran a test for line packet loss but showed no problems. I’m also I school for networking, so I have sufficient knowledge of internet connections.

I’m jealous to hear that you were able to cruise with people for so long, I have not been able to for more than a few minutes. Your pics looked cool; I’ll bet it was fun. That’s exactly the kind of experience I’m hoping for out of this game. I just hope it comes sooner than later.

Yeah It has only run smooth for about 10% of the time (at least for me) servers have been totally done for about 40% of the time and the other 50% it has run badly/ mediocore. If it has worked great for 10% I know it is at least possible for them to fix the kinks and get this game up and running in no time

Rolledtight

I think 10% is an overestimate for me.

I have seen the true potential of this came in the short time I have actually been able to cruise with someone. Hope its working properly soon. I anticipated the release of this title for a long time; hate to have to wait longer to play it without problems.

honestly can you say you cruised the island and saw 8 people constantly as you cruised....were were they disapearing coming in and out of your view or session...and like i said...honestly was it a constant 8 people? because its always 3 people the most at a STEADY rate disapearing in and out the sessions..

HUmm maybe it has to do with bandwidth. I know my firewall is a little.. tight at times. I work in network security. I'll be sure to check that out. Well I am off to have more fun! ;) be good.

Also i have found you have to talk to the people you are trying to join and make sure they are set to open as well. Then i have found the only way you can join them is normaly by using the map and filter to friends then hit 'A' on them to take you there. then you can't look at your map or you will lose them.
