as so many people are having trouble importing scenary i thought i'd try a tutorial wich hopefully will be more understandable then others.

first off you will need a 3d modeler... biturn...all that stuff you see in other tutorial threads.

before i start i know its a common error for textures to be wrong and crashing the importer and stuff. so i will post an example 256X256 8 bit texture...

http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/2120/blackcz7.png

just save it and you could use it for an example if you are having a texturing problem and or error.

first things first. convert your model to an .ASE file in biturn. once youve done this you can now begin.

open up the importer, you might as well do the begining page stuff first, click on wich theme it will be ( generic will show up when you have the certain search thing in rct3 to only generic scenary, no big deal or anything but you must do this. ) the theme name is next, now lets say you want the object to be called my object, you put my object in the theme name box ...easy enough.

now for the text strings this tells the importer what the name of the object is in rct3, in this case you can just put my object in both and hit ok, still simple stuff.

now for the icon textures this gets a little bit trickey. first of all you should save vodhins icon sheet found HERE (http://www.vodhin.net/CustomScenery/Vodhin/HowTo/24bit_Chessboard.png)
once youve done this select the icon sheet for your icon texture and name the icon what ever you want ( to add icons to the sheet you need to resize the picture you want to 64X64 pixels and place it to cover one of the squares )

now the icon references. name the icon what ever you want it doesnt matter. click on the texture you want, there should be one click it and then add the numbers CLICK HERE (http://www.vodhin.net/CustomScenery/Vodhin/HowTo/Icon_Map.htm) for references if you dont have a picture just put anything ( i usually use 449 449. for the top ones and 512 512 for the bottom ones just becuase i remembered it )

now its time to add and create the scenary.when you get to the create ovl part select an ASE file. add the texture, doesnt need a specific name you can use b for black ect. remember the textures MUST be a 256X256 8 bit bmp image or a 256 color bitmap. click on one of the mesh's ( there should be one called root leave that one alone ) and if your object only had one texture there should only be one mesh to deal with. click it hit the mesh flags button texture style name just use SIOPaque for now. and the texture name will be the texture you want ( b if you chose my example texture and name ) once youve finished this it should work, so hit file, save scenary file... name still doesnt matter my object scn is your best bet if you used my example name same with the ovls ( just incase you did something wrong and the ovl crashes the importer ) the next thing you do is save the ovl file there will be two... common ovl, and unique.

now thats finished go back to the edit scenary screen, select the ovl ( my object ovl ) now your almost done the rest is pretty easy. location within theme My_object. check the disable group box ( this way you wont have to click something to get to your object you need this unchecked with more then two objects though.) scenary icon there should be only one, same with the name string.

scenary type just use medium scenary item for now

supports type and extra parameters= none.

for the positioning put 0.0000000 in all

size put 0.0000000 in all

size in squares 1 and 1

size flag is how you want the object placed in the game full tile is it moves one square, quarter tile it moves within each quarter of a tile ect.

cost...001= 1 cent, 010 = 10 cents, 100 = a dollar ect.

unknown1=1
unknown2=2
unknown3=1
unknown4=2
unknown5=0
unknown6=0
unknown7=0
unknown8=0
unknown9=0

this disables collision detetcion ( leave the flags alone )

hit okay.

file, save theme ( my object thm )

and hit install theme.

if you are NOT using the importer Belgabor made you will have to do this 4-5 times before it installs it, so check each time to make sure it installs correctly. if you have questions dont hesitate to ask i'd love to help you guys getting started.

Much Luck!!!
