How do I track Marauder to base? Wolf's Lair

I have flown to Firefrost and Im trying to track a Marauder to its base for the Wolf's Lair Mission. Everytime I fly to a distress call and try to follow F6, or Formate, the marauder as it flees results in it disappearing off my contacts list.
How do I track it to its base? It disappears before I can follow it to a L-point

IIRC, that usually means you still lack a prerequisite for completing that mission. Try doing some other missions for a while and see if that helps.

Also, what I usually do is, I formate with them while they're still attacking the freighters. This means that I'm already in formation when they head off. Btw, you're sure you have the capsule space tracker installed, right?
