View Full Version : Welcome to: "O'Flannigan Funland" - Happy st. Patrick's Day special; NOT revived

It was a rainy day in October, when the first rumours started about O'Flannigan Funland. That day a new busstop was constructed at 'Bus Éireann bus station' in Limerick. The sign only said: "Destination: O'Flannigan Funland / Location:unknown" Here you've the chance to see the development of this mysterious park!
This park will be based upon Irish Folklore. The first land will be ground on Leprechauns. Later on I'll tackle some more challenging creatures. I haven't planned the entire map yet, not at all actually. Your input can influence it's final form. (meaning: your comments are welcome) Hopefully I'm able to withstand the mythical monster of Lough Lag long enough to bring this project to a satisfactory ending.
note: I've already done some work with this park. It's therefore possible you see something in the distance of the pictures, I haven't shown yet. I hope I'm able to keep ahead of this thread a little, so I'm able to update this thread more regularly than my building pace would allow me to.
Nice to know:
Miss Jessknight has offered me a place on her forum: Theme Park Forum. (http://z6.invisionfree.com/Theme_Park_Forum/index.php?act=idx) I think it's worth a visit. You can download O'Flannigan goodies there, oversee the park by it's highlights and watch the released videos. Occasionally there'll be pre-releases and news not heard here yet. At the very least, it's a fun place to hang out.

Please click here (http://mihd.net/7owv6m) to download the first land at O'Flannigan's, 'Leprechaun Village area'. (It's also playable as a scenario!)
Videos already available: The video downloads don't work. If I find the original files, I'll re-upload them. However, I fear they're somewhere in a dark corner of my basement. (same goes for the download ^)

Sounds like a fun, original concept, and what you have so far looks quite good.
So what kind of creatures are you planning on doing?
Or is it a secret? ;)
Nice start!

@Crowheart At this point I've got the option of Dullahans, Banshees, Merrows, Changelings, Pookas and Grogochs. If you've knowledge of some more interesting Irish characters, fairies or folklore stories, feel free to enlighten me.
@ToP gUn The red roof is meant to be part of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. I've to admit, it looks a bit odd in the overview. From peep point-of-view, however, it doesn't look strange to me.
@weasel497 Thank you.
It's getting quite late here, so I wish you all a very good night. And I want to thank you for your early responses... Thank you.

This park makes me happy...
Comments... your landscaping is brilliant, one of the best I've seen. I'm abit concerned about the scale of your entrance but if the park itself is this grand you can make it work. You win me over with the fact that you're not using a parking lot, but you still mannage to incorparate some pre-park elements like the bus drop off and ticket booths, I "heart" the Oak.
Jerr_Oen
10-10-2006, 04:15 AM
Good morning.
@Crowheart I think I'll add Will 'O the Wisps to my list. I can think of a good use of them at night.
@davidcon Thank you. It looks like I'll use the Alpine Village sets for the first land "Leprechaun Village" too.
@Vodhin Thank you, I think a tribute to you would be appropiate too, soon. I'm very thankful for your recolourable lights and I shall use them extensively, in a coaster I have planned. If you've a request to what I shall name after you, don't hesitate to inform me: a house, hilltop, forrest, which ever suits you.
@Spanzini and ToP gUn Loch Ness is in Scotland, however Ireland has its own lake monsters too. In my opening post I've mentioned the horrible monster of "Lough Lag". Maybe I'll incorporate it into a coaster. This (http://static.flickr.com/38/85281021_ec7ee2c71a_b.jpg) is "Strangford lough monster" In Northern Ireland.
@CTRSind Thank you. It makes me feel happy to build this park too, that's probably why I play this game. I'm pleased you're picking up this feeling. I'll sure try to live up to the entrance's scale, may the RCT-gods be willing enough.
I don't want to leave you without one picture. So I present to you the very first attraction of O'Flannigan Funland... LOL: "Leprechaun Look-Out"

A very nice start to a promising park. I especially like Shyguy's Treasury! :p
I noticed the flags don't line up right with the tops of the spires in first shots. You must have used the ones in the Alpine Village Set. Try the ones in the Circus Center Set. They should line up perfect.

Background story:
Warning: This is a long and boring bar story. Please drink some pints of beer, before reading futher. (Unless you're under legal drinking age)
It was early february. Thomas O'Flannigan had pulled an all-nighter with his pals drinking a couple of pints at the local pub. The darkness was receding as the sun climbed up the hill, when O'Flannigan walked towards his cottage in No-man's-land. Suddenly he heard a snorring sound not far from the road. Behind a big oak he saw a very small red bearded man lying, asleep, in a shoe. The man had a face like a dried plum, it was dressed in green and had a funny hat. Beside him laid a, compaired to its size, very big empty beerglass. It must be a leprechaun sleeping off its hangover, realized O'Flannigan.
With lightning speed he grabbed the leprechaun. "AAAAAIEEEEE!" It made a threatening screaming noise, its face turned purple, while it was squirming its arms and legs to escape O'Flannigans firm grip. After a while, when it was clear that it wouldn't escape, it gave up strugling and said: "I assume you want to know where my gold is now." O'Flannigan gave the matter some consideration and demanded the leprechaun to bring him where the leprechauns use to live. The next thing O'Flannigan heard was a cracking noise, like the big oak was broken in two, immediatly followed by a painful feeling in his stomache, as if he was kicked in the crotch.
After gasping for breath O'Flannigan looked around and noticed he wasn't near the big oak anymore. Instead he saw a lot of colourful little buildings scattered among the hillside. Around him he heard a dozen of whispering voices together forming an angry buzzing noise. Although he was delighted to have found the secret leprechaun village, it became clear to him he still had one small problem to overcome. He had not a single clue where he was nor where to go to. Therefore he made a string of hair from its legs, arms, back and other parts where hair may grow. The first part of the string he roped on a small birch as high as he could. Then he started to walk, roping the string high above ground, when he thought a leprechaun might be able to reach it. Finally, when O'Flannigan was as smooth as a baby and there was no string left to rope, he saw a sign saying: "Limerick - 11 miles"
A few days later O'Flannigan returned. He found the village by following the string, but the leprechauns had left the scene. In order to still make a fortune, he build a themepark around the leprechaun village. It is said the leprechauns still live in this themepark, so you might see one if you look close enough.

@El Toro and -ToP gUn Thanks dudes!
@DanishDude You're right! It's from a book by Frank McCourt. It was on my english literature list at highschool.
@RCT-Spanky Thank you, I've already planned a pub in the middle of the kiddie section. Parents have to have some fun too, in spite of the screaming brats. :D
@Cyberleader You've got a lot of friends.
@-Nuclear Fish- When you catch a Leprechaun, you have to hold him firmly in your hand, to prevent it from escaping. That's what the hands of the ghost-ride represent.

@Cyberleader Good, thank you. The work continues below.
@-Nuclear Fish- Thanks man! I hope you still like it after the following colour-shock.
The track leads you up the hill, where a colourful castle awaits you:
V Erm... these are some odd looking tubes.
http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/5654/04aredtubeji0.jpg
V Could this be the location where the Leprechauns hide the Danes' treasure?

Leprechauns are only accepted by other fairies, because they provide them with shoes. Besides the art of shoe-making, Leprechauns also have become the 'self-appointed' treasure keepers of the fairy world, since only they know where the Danes burried their treasure, after they'd pillaged Ireland.

Clurichauns are the evil nephews of Leprechauns. They are known to raid wine cellars, ride on life-stock and cause other havoc. It's also said however, Clurichauns are actually Leprechauns after a pint, or two, too much.

@swimfreak430 Thank you. I've to say, I'm not Irish either, so most buildings are according to my own imagination. It's possible someone actually from Ireland doesn't recognize his country at all. And yes, I am making a video of this ride, wich isn't going to take long from now. [probablynextupdate]
@coinich I'm pleased you're liking it. I didn't think it would by remotely Irish, without the colour green.
@rct addict When this park is done, I'll certainly put it up for download. I've still some ideas in my head I want to form into rides. A woodie [Grogoch], a water [Merrow] coaster and a major thrill [Dullahan] ride. So I don't think it will be finished very soon, unless Laggie forces an earlier ending.
@larry241 Thank you. I tried to make the buildings surprise you, when you come around the corner. Do you fancy a pint of Guinness then, or do you prefer a Dutch beer. It's the season of 'Herfstbok' here  (=Autumngoat, darkred bittersweet).
@Fisherman Thank you very much, I'm pleased you like the ride. It's quite difficult to be original at this forum, with so many great ideas and designs, including yours.
@vilate It does make sense and I thank you!

Nice use of color, and you implemented the second story quite nicely, which isn't as easy as it looks.
This is probably one of the few parks where the standard stalls actually look good. They fit in with the sort of storybook feel of the theme.
Great!

@Crowheart Thank you, for the many and laudatory comments. I use the standard stalls only if I think it would look good. Then I adjust the scenery around it, to make them blend in better. If the standard stalls don't work I use the costum stalls.

Wow ! I like this park. The theme is inspiring, the athmosphere is lovely and I like very much how you 'merge' constructions with the landscape. But not only am I impressed with the quality and the details of this park, but also at your buiding speed ...
considering this thread started just 2 weeks ago, you've constructed a lot of nice looking buildings in a very short time ... (it takes me months to create just a fraction of this ...)
Very well done !! :up::up::up::up::up:

@MDEKing and @legin949 Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
@jdmss1 Thank you. I was a little concerned it would look like a ghost-town, without actual Leprechauns running around. I'm pleased you didn't think of it that way.
@PvHooijdonk Bedankt!. Actually, I've been working on this since september. I only started to show you when I thought this could work out. I didn't show all of it immediatly, because I didn't want to be left pictureless after the first post.
@arkangel_v6 Thanks. (O dear, not a very original reply.)

I like how it faded into the freestyle camera just before the car got back to the station, that was nice.
The village is awesome, it's even more detailed than the pics show, I like how the ride interacted with the actual peep parts of the shops as well as the decorative parts of the ride.
I can really appreciate the skill it took incorporating the ride, the terraforming and the architecture together, this is one of the better examples I've seen.
Awesome!

@Crowheart You're most welcome. I would have hated it when people weren't able to watch the video. I'm pleased you liked it.
@SHERBERTRCT That would be something, indeed. I'll have to wait for Bitter Jeweler, to make his garden gnomes into costum scenery, then.
@PvHooijdonk Thank you. It will be still a lot of work, before it's finished in the way I hope it'll be.

The new kiddie-coaster: 'Fortune, Chase the Rainbow'
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/1305/offfortuneke4.jpg
I hope you'll like what I've done with this coaster. I had some problems with adding the supports, therefore I was forced to improvised a little. Secondly I'm curious you'll like the scenery I added. Hopefully you'll notice it isn't random, but fits a proper theme. Well, here we go:
V A shot of the start of Fortune and its first lift-hill. This is what a peep will see from the queue, just before he or she enters the station.
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/7997/11afirstliftsg0.jpg
V A clear view at Fortune, from the back.
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/4205/11bfortuneym9.jpg
V Overview from the other side.
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/3638/11cfortuneac8.jpg
V A close up. (please pretend the beam, in the left, does hold the track ;))
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/555/11dfortuneclosupyu7.jpg
This coaster has 3 lift-hills, deviding the track in 4 sections. This way it's possible to run it with 3 trains. I've timed the loading times in such a matter, the last train'll just leave the station as the first train arrives. Some other facts: length of attraction is 2.391 feet. Top speed is 32 miles per hour. Highest drop is 39 feet.

Looks awesome, really like to see a suspended kids coaster here.
The "trees" are quite cool, reminds me a bit of "A Bug's Life"
Can't really see anything to crit here, except maybe the topmost building looks like it's hanging a bit. Maybe you could turn it into a tower going from the ground up, leaving open spaces where the coaster passes through it.
Just an idea, I'm really liking this park more and more!

@SHERBERTRCT Thank you. I tried to create a surreal environment. I was a bit worried this surreality would affect it's reality, in a diturbing way.
@The Exorsist Thank you. If you want to see some more fantastic work, I suggest searching for several of the 5-star parks on this forum too (and not only on page one).
@Crowheart "Alright, that's it: subscribed." Oh dear, so I can expect even more replys from you? :D:up:
I'm afraid I failed at the "trees", they weren't supposed to be trees actually. The "hanging building" is the blue one, I suppose. It is part of a concept, of 7 small pavilions, wich represents the spectrum of the rainbow. Building a bigger structure, would probably mean I've to enlarge all of them. I don't think, however, there's enough room to do that. If the blue pavilion does bother you on top of the lift-hill, I'll see if I can find a better spot on the ground somewhere. I've posted a 'behind the scenes' drawing of the attraction with the location of the pavilions:
http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/1737/fortune001qj6.jpg
The coloured squares are the pavilions. The numbers stand for the track height (in metres).

Oh, leave the blue building by all means, now that you explain the concept it makes sense. It was just difficult to tell from the pics since really only the top two pavillions could be seen. Great idea for the rainbow, now I can fully appreciate it!
So are the "trees" really clouds?
Glad to see I'm not the only one that draws plans beforehand, I find it extremely helpful personally.
Looks great, thanks for the explanation!
Jerr_Oen
10-31-2006, 07:11 PM
@Crowheart Yes, you got the clouds in the second guess. I suppose that means +5 cool point for you now. For a rainbow to appear, rainclouds are essential. Besides that, I liked the way the trains go above and underneath them. This gives a sence of height, while the attraction itself isn't that heigh at all.

Hallo Jerr_oen,
I don't know if you already did so, but I guess you could make the chase-the-rainbow ride very spectacular at night by using a number of colourable lights ... (e.g. combined with 'mist' particles as cloud-effects)

11-01-2006, 08:08 PM
@Mayhem101 Thank you, for the nice comment. Luckily I didn't waste your time on the forum. ;)
@PvHooijdonk The lights had been placed already. The mist-particles, however, is an idea I didn't think of. Thank you, I'll try it:

@swimfreak430 Thank you. A mystical appearance was something I aimed for. I'm pleased, you think I succeeded.
@Crowheart The mist is the idea of PvHooijdonk, I think it does look good indeed. I'm not too sure about the blue supports, I think they make the ride look more gloomy. Then again, you should be able to deside too:
http://img428.imageshack.us/img428/7636/12dbluesupportsiz8.jpg
I'm quite happy with the station too, thank you. I think I can make a video. Ithink I'll include some shots of the park.
@Novix Thank you, much appreciated.
@mikeyca Thank you very much for checking in again and for leaving a lovely post behind. I never thought of that Skittles slogan. Usually I do anything to avoid hearing or watching advertisement. (going to the toilet, getting a drink, perform yoga, put bananas in my ears, etc.) Lets stick with only 'Fortune' then.
@Kablary Thank you. I travel a lot by train, without a laptop, so I've to use oldfashion pencil and paper. These sketches do make your lay-out clearer. "Leprachaun Village kicks mokey butt!" I believe you're refering to the Mokey wars in 1173. The Mokeys were indeed taken by complete surprise, in the Leprechaun Village ambush.

How do I quote a single piece of test?
There were Monkey wars in 1173? :haha: I wasn't referring to that at all. I used to watch the Fairly Odd Parents years ago, and I got "monkey butt" off of that. But Monkey wars? Wow.
EDIT: Oh,Mokey Wars...not Monkey...omg I feel stupid...
Crowheart
11-06-2006, 02:05 PM
Are there really Mokeys?
I thought it was just a typo of monkey..
After seeing the blue supports, I'm undecided.
I'd say go with whatever one you like best, the blue doesn't add anything significant to it compared with the yellow. I guess you don't really see blue skys around rain clouds anyways now that I think about it, doh!
The new flat ride looks good, I like semi-enclosed rides, and it really works, especially with the varying levels of the queue.
Great job once again!
weebletns
11-06-2006, 06:55 PM
I liked the yellow supports better, I agree the blue looks a little gloomy. The flat ride is great, but I think the stalls would look nicer if they were the generic custom stalls. (If you have wild)
PvHooijdonk
11-07-2006, 04:43 AM
I would like to suggest perhaps another colour-setting for the supports of 'Chase the Rainbow': Since it is supposed to be cloudy ... sky-blue doesn't really fit ...
perhaps a modest grey would be more suitable (it would also make the rainbow colours stand out more).
The Cobbler-Ball is most beautiful with that structure surrounding it !!
I can't remember having seen this ride in RCT3 ... are these 'Balls' custom ?
or is it an alternative option of an existing ride ?

11-07-2006, 05:24 PM
@Kablary ;)
@Crowheart The blue supports were a good idea, since they match the track better. I'll keep the yellow supports, because I want this ride to be quite cheerful.
@weebletns Thank you, I'll keepthe yellow supports. One stall actually is costum. I thought the lemon stand looks ok. I even painted the chimney yellow, to match it. I'll look again at it, but I think I'll keep it.
@PvHooijdonk I'll look into the grey supports, but it has to look really good to convince me to repaint everything again. As mentioned above, I want this ride to look cheerful. "Cobbler's Ball" is an in-game flatride available with Wild (quite in the bottom of the exciting rides).
@Spheremaster Well, thank you! Yes, other attractions shall be based on other fairies (see pic below). I try to give every fairy its own major ride, with some rides around it that have something to do with that fairy.

Nice Video !
And the new station ^^ looks impressive.
Also -as said above, and as said before- I really like the way you model your paths in the scenery, the adjacent walls and shrubbery (why does this word makes me think about a Monty-Python scene ?? :) ) give a real good "3D" look to the pathways. and it gives the impresion that paths are carved into the landscape and not -as seen al too often- as if the landscape is added later. I really love it !
When I'll start my new park (I've got Windows running again hurray!) I'm afraid that I'm going to 'steal' some of your landscaping methods ... (though I'll probably choose another theming, I have something more 'medieval' and/or Italian in mind).
Anyway ... don't expect to see any park of mine posted here very soon.
I cannot spend as much time on it as I might wish, since I have a full time job and have 3 kids to take care off ...
Anyway ... hope to see more of your next updates ...
Cheers !

@gamemast75 I put most effort in landscaping and scenery, so I'm very pleased you like it. I've to admit the coaster isn't the most exciting ride. Although it isn't meant to be quite intense in this area of my park, I've to say I'll not be able to compete with the best coaster designers on this forum.
@swimfreak430 Well, it's not going to be a brewery, good idea though. The band sounds perfectly with a pint, indeed.
@PvHooijdonk Thank you and steal away. I suppose you've an extra job as Black Pete these days too. << I don't think the English people'll understand that.
From Monthy Python and the Holy Grail, with the Knights Who Say... Nee!
HEAD KNIGHT: Nee! Nee!
ARTHUR and PARTY: Oh, ow!
ARTHUR: Please, please! No more! We shall find a shrubbery.
HEAD KNIGHT: You must return here with a shrubbery or else you will never pass through this wood alive!
ARTHUR: O Knights of Nee, you are just and fair, and we will return with a shrubbery.
HEAD KNIGHT: One that looks nice.
ARTHUR: Of course.
HEAD KNIGHT: And not too expensive.
ARTHUR: Yes.
HEAD KNIGHTS: Now... go!
@I. M. Agoner Thank you, much appreciated.

It's update time. I present to you: "Leopardstown Soap Box Derby"
I feel the theme of this ride differs quite a bit from the general concept. I've had the idea for this ride, for some time now. I wanted to get it out, before it started to haunt me. Anyway, you should judge, weather it fits or it doesn't.
V Departed from the station:

V As it zigzags further through the landscape:
http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/2606/18bbridgeswg2.jpg
V Overview of the ride, it's not an impressive ride, but it got pretty good ratings none the less. The peeps seem to love it too:
http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/1082/18ctrackly0.jpg
I hope you do enjoy this update. The next attraction I've planned shall concern a new fairy and it'll be the start of a new area of the park. I promise!

I like the ride. Its simple but clean and good. That landscape is really good.
Crowheart
11-29-2006, 05:48 PM
Yes it fits!
It looks awesome, I really like the multiple levels of the ride (very apparent especially in pic #2)
Nice to see a soap box derby rides, I love them myself!
I wonder if, considering this seems like a fairly tame coaster, if it would look nice if you just used single car trains?
That might give it a kind of Autopia through O'Flannigan land feeling if you know what I mean. (It has that feeling already actually :D)
But whatever you decide, it's awesome either way!
Now keep those pics coming, or I shall force you to cut down the largest tree in the forest with... a herring!
Ni!

@DorneyDude I'm pleased, thank you. :)
@Crowheart I'm glad you think of it, in this way. I was a bit concerned about it. As always, I'll thoroughly investigate your advices, they're much appreciated. "Now keep those pics coming, or I shall force you to cut down the largest tree in the forest with... a herring! Ni!" ROFL. Good gracious, I shall put my coconuts in full throttle, then, Your Lordship.
V I thought, I could share with you the mascot of this ride:

Absolutely ! and not just at home, but at work I'm more than 150% occupied arranging the saint-Nicolas celebration for 50 kids this saturday. But after December 6th times will be more quiet and park-constructions will be commenced with a double-speed coconut rhitm.

@DorneyDude and @-ToP gUn I'm pleased you like it. Those levels appeared, because I had to build the track agains the hill. The space available was quit narrow, so there weren't very much more options, than to do it the way it became.

Such intersting buildings. Styles that just amaze me. Love the colors and lights and all the trees. A great feeling of a busy park like Shyguy says.
Great work!!!
Wow, its only now that I'm able to praise this gem of a park. I've got a lot to catch up on!
First off, this is currently my favorite park on the forums - it has such a carefree and ... fun atmosphere. I seriously want to pack up and head off to O'Flannigan Funland for the weekend (if only..). From the first few screens i saw of this park, i was amazed by the simplicity, yet intimacy of its buildings and architecture. It just works so well.
The terrain shifts are wonderful as well - i don't think i've seen a parkbuilder (except maybe mikeyCA) that has used subtle terrain slopes to their advantage - but this park does that and more and even though the terrain moves quite a bit, you don't get a sense of too much rise or too much fall. And the buildings complement the terrain well too - especially when they are literally built into the terrain. The park is small and close, and it just works as its name implies...funland. It looks fun to be in!
Ive not seen someone do such a good outdoor darkride (oops, isnt that an oxymoron?) on this forum for a while. Sure people do log rides and junk, but never a track ride with outdoor scenes. Again, its just another one of those things that makes this park so unique.
I hope you continue with this one to the end, because it has been a massive dose of inspiration for my next park (to be announced in 6 days) and I'm very impressed on how you made this park look so fun. Your use of color is impressive and the way your buildings compliment the terrain and frame the park from different angles is what I look for in great design. Anyway, I'll stop rambling - haha, I'll be watching this one to its end because its like a spoonfull of Vitavetavegimin every time i open the thread!

@-ToP gUn Thank you. I wouldn't mind making a video of the ride at all, but that would make three video at such a small park. Wouldn't that be presumtuous? "You infact inspired me to use the suspended mini coaster," That's a lovely coaster, you've to keep in mind that it slows down quite fast. I can't wait to see, what you come up with.
@coasterdude184 Thank you for the kind words.
@shyguy Thanks, I think too that, the last shot came out pretty well. Your belltower and spire look very nice in the background there.
@larry241 Thanks. Wow, I never thought to be able to amaze you.
@n747 Thank you for the great post, I'll frame it and hang it on the wall. I'm very pleased you like this park for the same reasons, I'm aiming to follow building it. That's twice as rewarding.
"And the buildings complement the terrain well too - especially when they are literally built into the terrain." When I design the buildings I use the terrain as an architectural tool, like I would use paths, foliage or any other scenery pack. As an example: if you put a castle on a hill, it hasn't to be that high. Or more subtle, the fourth picture in my previous post. As you can see the station sits on the ground on the left, but 'floats' above it on the right. I was trying to make the tiny slope, the soapboxes start with, look a bit larger. To enforce that the rock walls go upwards, faking a chainlift. If this makes any sense, that is.
I'm quite pleased with the outdoor ride too, because it gave me free background scenery, instead of a big building I'd to hide. I really enjoyed reading your post and I'm impatient for seeing your work of art.
@Crowheart *blush* A flower only blossoms in good soil...
@SHERBERTRCT Thank you and thank you. It's always nice to answer someone's expecations.

@coasterdude184 "they dont really look like clouds" Are you kidding me, they'r black grey white and float in the air? ;) The clouds were meant to be abstract/cartoonish, I actually like them. I've placed them to create an additional sensation of hight, since the coaster itself doesn't go very high. I do appreciate your offer to create them for me, but I don't want you to make such an effort to change something I already like. Thank you very much for the offer, though.

Well.......the absolute beauty of this park didn't really sit in until the in of that video. My seeing it in motion I have I brand new respect for you and this park!
Seriously where to start........I have thought about making a ride like this in the past, and just gave up on it thinking it an impossible task. But you have definalty;y proven be wrong! Amazing ride. I think the length fit it perfectly, and the scenery was fabulous. I loved the way guest enter the ride like entering a stadium. Huge bonus for that one. I also really like how everything was wheel-chair assessable. Overall one of my all time favs. Great theming, great timing, and just plain fun.
Now on to the park. Like I said, seeing it in motion is like walking into "Disneyland" after you have seen pics all you life. It is more than words can describe. The Little details that aren't noticeable, because they just feel right. The lighting, the layout, the gentle hills, the clouds around "Rainbow". EVERYTHING! It just fits. I love it. All of it. This is my all time favorite park I have seen! It makes me happy. I want to be there.
You have some mad skills my man. Amazing skills. You video editing is "off the Izzy" aswell. "Wild Horses" is an amazing song, and I think it fit real well with the slow moving shots of the park. I can not wait to see what else you can come up with. I will be here at every update. Drolling over your work.
Sincerely, The Hill

@-ToP gUn You commented about a 5 minute long video, about 8 minutes after it has been posted. You must be this forum's jedi. Thank you so much, I agree it's much easier to see how things are connected in a video.
@Sawyer Thanks, much appreciated. In this video I didn't use bloom, actually, it was too much at night.
@Crowheart Thank you, I didn't notice the stars. I'll enjoy them as long as they last. :)
@Milkdud Thank you. I agree about the music during the ride. I've chosen this song, because I felt it suited the entrance and overview shots. 'Wild Horses' refers to the fact that Leopardstown is a racecourse near Dublin.
@deaconnor I'm pleased you like it, thanks.
@hillibilly Wow, thank you, posts like this really give me a boost to keep going!
I'm very pleased you noticed the stadium, that was exactly, what I was going for. Good spotting on the wheel-chair accessibility. It's sometimes a pain, long queue up the hill, but it gives you a beautiful staircase occasionally. Thank you so much for all those nice words.
@gamemast75 Thanks. I agree the ride was a bit short. I had a small patch of ground to work with.

After finishing Leopardstown I noticed some lag in my park. This is why I've decided to put the file up for download, so everybody can explore the park on their own, quite smoothly. I'll continue to work on it in the same map, as long as my pc's allowing me to.
In the meantime, here's the download: You can go explore it in sandbox mode. As an extra feature you can play it as a real scenario too.

The following Costum scenery has been used in this park:
- A lot of ShyGuy's sets (Alpine Village 1, 2 and 3; Catfish Cove; Circus Center)
- Vodhin's Lighting Kit (latest version)
- Vodhin's Vermont Kit
- Vodhin's Cafe Kit (latest version)
- DRP's Lightz
- Aceana's Pavement Essentials
- Iceatcs' Custom Slide Supports
- Iceatcs' Billboards
- JCat's Steeworx
(Thanks to all costum scenery makers, without whom this park wouldn't look the same.)
Any more news?
As you may haven't noticed, there were no sneak previews of new rides in the latest video. This means that I still have to start my new attraction. This includes terraforming, laying paths and designing the track itself. It's going to be a rather big project, it could take a while before I have a next update.

@Master_Player09 Did you succeeded?
@Crowheart Guess I'm an unexpectable sharer. Now you've to watch out for me sneaking up and shouting "Download" behind your back. :D I decided to put it up for download, because I'm starting on a very new area in the park. I feared, it would become unpleasant to play, when I put it up for download, after I finished all of it.
@-ToP gUn I'm playing it quite well with a Intel pentium4 3GHz, 128MB RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500, 128 MB memory. It's it's lagging dramatically, when I've set all graphics at it's maximum to make pictures.
@coasterdude184 I'm very pleased, you like the video and my park. I've seen Busch Gardens' websites, it's a major compliment to be compaired with that themepark. I'll only start believing my park is actually better than Shyguy's, when I'm greeted by hordes of screaming girls, while logging into this forum. Thanks again, though!
@coinich Only wild at heart. Wild is needed for the costum stalls, Soaked for the mist particles.
@Plokoon111 Thank you, thank you very much! I wouldn't still be rocking without all those replies, though.

I have a small chrismas preview for you:
Just before the christmas break, the crew's been able to get the new coaster ready for testing. It turned out to be quite an exciting ride, without being extremely intense. It features several head-choppers, only 4 inversions, but some nasty surprises. With some effort I convinced Thomas O'Flannigan to release one Christmas preview. Note that there's still a lot of theming to be done. Actually it'll be themed beyond recognition. The whole area, with the old town, should be ready before the start of the next season. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
Merry Christmas everybody and I hope 2006 ends well for everyone, best wishes!

The building progress is going rather slow, at the moment. This is due to the fact that I don't want to show unfinished buildings. Most buildings contain several functions. At this point I've three attractions very close to eachother. This asks for some more complicated buildings. Besides that, a tight city environment takes more time to design, then a more open area.
I've managed to find a showable angle, I want to reveal:

:jump:Jerr_Oen,
I just want to let you know that I think O'Flannigan Funland is both visually impressive and professionally engineered. Your park has all of the elements of today's sucessful theme parks, and takes the entertainment level further by incorporating a new theme; Ireland! (By the way, I thought that theme was genius!). Your work on this park is astounding (to say in the least), and I must say that I'm curious to see the new roller coaster in action! In fact, I am too curious.(!!...)
I shall try to be patient.:downcast:

@gamemast75 I heard new T-shirts are around saying: "Lets start a riot!"
@poekie1337 It's my pleasure to make you curious. I tried to put some symbolics into this ride, to give it a little extra spookyness. Unfortunately the coaster'll go rather fast past most details, hopefully they'll sink in on a subconscious level.
@B.F Thank you, it's always nice to hear from my southern neighbours.
@QsUpIiCcHyE Thank you, very much appreciated. I'm sorry to reply rather late at your lovely post, I suppose it slipped through my subscriptions. Ill start updating the park again in about 4 days. @SHERBERTRCT Thank you!

I've completed most of the scenery for the coaster. It was a bigger project than I imagined it to become, I hope I haven't overthemed it. You've to ride it several times before you get a picture of the story-line. Well, you'll just have to see... in four days.

A Dullahan’s Tale
1
Late February 2007 a young Canadian, called Tristan Gavin, vanished from the face of the earth. Evidence showed that his last whereabouts were near Limerick in Ireland. According to local authorities’ reports, he’s broken into a local themepark. Nobody has seen him since that faithful night.
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/7836/offshlogosn4.jpg
Miraculously, TG crossed the Atlantic Ocean in his old CT-114 Tutor, without too many problems. When he saw the green hills of Ireland and the old plane started to descend, TG mutters: “Now let’s see what’s taking so long!” With a roaring noice the plane skims over the houses of Limerick. The phoney clouds of Fortune are in sight, TG prepares the old plane for landing on the road near the main entrance. Suddenly two headlights of a big black double-deck bus appears in front of him, heading straight towards him. As in a James Bond movie TG maneuvers the plane upwards to avoid a collision. After several adrenaline driven acrobatic reflexes TG finds himself crashed in a forest. With just a couple of bruises and a minor concussion he stumbles through the remains of the demolished fence, into O’Flannigan Funland.
A thick fog surrounds TG, he’s barely able to make up the groaning trees around him. Then the moon breaks through the clouds for a moment and illuminates a horrific scene. He’s watched by a headless horseman on a huge black steed. In its left hand it holds his own head with skin like moldy cheese and a sardonic grin from ear to ear. TG tries to run, but his feet refuse, as the horseman moans his name: “Trist-tan.” The last he sees is a scene filled with fire, yet he’s so cold...
At 11 o’clock, that evening, Thomas O’Flannigan bids his friends goodbye. When they ask him why he’s leaving so soon, he says: “I’ve a feeling my latest attraction finally’s been finished.” With stiff pases Thomas O’Flannigan disappears in the night.
The beginning of the beginning.

Looks very nice, very nice indeed. I really like the style you got there, great collors, and a nice mixture of trees, it looks unique and refreshing. The lay-out looks realistic and a lot of fun! I have a small critique though, the single support right before the first drop looks a bit unstable there all on it's own. Especially becouse it have to support that stucture on top too.

03-01-2007, 07:56 AM
@QsUpIiCcHyE Thank you. The first drop actually has cut a way through the ground, creating one of those 'open tunnels.' That'd also be the location of most of the headchoppers, Crowheart insisted on.
@Spanzini It's awsome you like it!
@Rtoups Thank you very much. Blending in the woodie was the only way I could come up with to create a fitting catwalk.
@QsUpIiCcHyE Yes, the options.txt cheat enabled me to build the woodie segments in the same space as the already existing coaster.
@poekie1337 Thank you very much! I'm very happy with your critique and I do agree with you. I had changed the supports on that particular spot several times, resulting in this weak compromise. Do you think one diagonal tube to the side, from where the wooden beams first meet the steel tube would be sufficient? I'll change it and post a picture when I get home.

Jerr Oen, I was following this park back in the days when I was lurking (before creating an account). Like with so many others, I've neglected to follow this now that I have joined.
I am liking the theming to this ride. I think the extended coaster (with the extended car) is a perfect fit for what I've seen.
One comment, the first pic in this last update, the red roses seem just a little out of place next to the coaster, when you see the horseman in the background. You are probably going too fast to really notice this when you are riding though. Perhaps a better fit would be some rocks. Just a suggestion, overall it looks great.
And I believe I am over my "shilly shally" now, I shouldn't type when exhausted... ;)

@Waldo13 It's great you left a comment now, thanks. :) The safety-things in front of the cars reminded me of scythes or something else that has the potential to behead. I'm rather pleased, that someone who followed the park for a while, likes the new addition.
Rocks are a good idea, I usually don't use them. I'm not used to rocks, the Netherlands isn't a rocky country. I'll see if I'm able to fit them in. Some questions: Do you dislike the red roses only near the Dullahan, or around the entire ride? You don't like to see them red, or you don't want to see them there at all?
ps. It's better to be Shilly-Shally than silly Sally, isn't it.

Wow, I don't know but this park seems so overdone, except it isn't, not in the least. The themeing is always perfect, and I never seem to want to stop glancing at the photo. This park and especially this ride, are extremely well done! I never thought you would pull of such an amazing rollercoaster from the rather complex layout you had before!
Terrific!

The red roses seem fine elsewhere. In that pic, it seemed that it was a spooky part of the ride; the red roses seemed too cheerful. Some darker roses may be a better fit. Do I see black roses there already? As far as the rocks, I was thinking, maybe Composerboy's rocks laid into the ground might work.
The extended cars: I have ridden an "x-car coaster" that uses that type of vehicle. The restraints can be very freeing, or complete torture depending on how tight they are. I think the restraints will enhance the experience of this ride (if only it were real)...

Looking better by the day! Oh, by the way, if you need some Irish Folk Music for the park, drop me a line, I have a bunch on my computer. :D

@-ToP gUn I understand what you mean with 'overdone,' I find it hard to stop edding extra stuff into the park. Would you believe I wanted this park to be as sober as possible, when I started it? Actually, I still try to minimize all scenery to what I think is necessary. I guess I need a lot of it to tell my story. Thank you for the great words, I'm pleased you like it to this point, already.
@Waldo13 Those were some good advises, I hope you like what I've done with them:

I think restraints that get tighter as the ride progresses, would truly enhence the experience..
@Nocturna Thank you very much. Check your PM's.
Still in the forest.

I think the rocks are a better fit. I like how you used them...
I also wanted to tell you, the color choices for the ride and JCat's supports fit in nicely with the surrounding scenery...

I LOVE THIS PARK! SORRY FOR SCREAMI... I mean, sorry for screaming, but I've passed this up way too much! This is one of the best themed parks out here! Are doing anything special for Funland near St. Patrick's Day? Also, I watched the Leprechaun's Village ride video, and it was great! one thing, though... Why do people insist on putting rock music into videos?! I think something celtic or anything themed would've been much more appropriate. I didn't like that music at all. Otherwise, spectacular park!

The support looks like it's stable now in my opinion. Oh boy, did a miss some updates! great to see even more details, I thought we saw the whole ride allready, but it seems that there is even more behind that gate!

@Spheremaster Merci beaucoup!
@SCAREcrow22 I'm pleased you like the aesthetic part of the park that much. I'm sorry you didn't like the music. I don't know why people seem to insist on putting rock music into their videos. I use it, because it's the music I know best and appreciate most. I want the music to support the mood of the video, wich is easier to do with music you know. I agree Celtic music would fit better in a Irish park, but then it would be a little less my park. St. Patrick's Day is a good call (17th right?) I wouldn't want to forget it. Thank you for the comment.
@poekie1337 You're right, there's more behind, more specific below that gate. Thank you for the supporting insights.
@rctlvr Thank you, what 'bout that video? ..:p
Thank you for all the response, here're some new shots to please the appetite, untill I got the video ready.

Interesting, the track changes color. I'm assuming it's for a good reason...
So is the ride finished then? I'm looking forward to the video...
