One file glitched...start over?

My most recent trip through IWar2 has hit a snag... I get no further objectives after I was accepted by the Stepsons. I know you have to take a break every once in a while for pirating, but I've been going off and on all week and I've just snagged my 500th pod!
So it's pretty surely glitched. So here's the question: If I'm running the latest patch, and was when I started that campaign, will starting over have any chance of avoiding the bug?
