View Full Version : CD Key Problem

So, after driving all over town trying to find a store who actually got more than three copies of the game, I finally manage to con someone into selling me a copy (interesting sales technique).

Ready to delve into a hopefully fun game, I throw the disc into the drive, and ready myself for a fun-filled evening. Alas, whoever assigned my copy's CD Key had other things in store for me. I input the CD Key as printed on the inside cover of my user manual, and I don't even get the option to hit OK. I'm pretty sure I have the reason why nailed down, but thanks to Atari's awesome tech support , I have to resort to this forum to hopefully get an answer that doesn't involve me driving 45 minutes to exchange for a new copy.

Glancing at the CD Key, it is separated into seven, hyphinated segments. While most are five characters in length, the first is only four. I'm pretty sure this is the reason why the 'OK' button is still greyed out. Upon entering another random character, I can hit OK, but obviously the CDKey is then invalid, and my computer wastes no time (nor tact) in telling me that.

Now, I would use Tech Support were it not for the fact that NWN2 isn't even listed in supported games, so I come to you, fellow gamers (as I can only assume that Atari doesn't so much as monitor this forum as just pay for webhosting, relying on our peers to solve the problem for us).

What can/should I do to alleviate this problem?

Thanks in advance.

I would gladly give you my key, but even though I have all the characters it comes up invalid every time. If you find an answer let me know.

:p

My CD-key was exactly as you describe yours - 4 digits on the first segment! I was so pissed off - sent an e-mail to Atari -no response yet - so I thought "WTF" - and figured the missing character must be the first so just started popping in the alphabet until it took the code. I got to "H" and continued with the install.

Now I just hope that there's no one else out there with the same code - guess I'll find out. :hitting-self:

9 days and no response from the wondrous atari customer support email system. Even better is that the store I bought it from won't take it back because it was opened. Yay!
