Neon lighting set recolorable lighting emitters
I know a lot of people are waiting for the steel I beam but I have decided to work on another set first. Neon lighting set recolorable lighting emitters. Basely as the name says this wet will included many different strength light emitters which are recolorable so that you can match the lights color the neon tube gives off to the color of the actually tube.
A few reasons why I have decided to do this is one I don’t have a lot of free time and the I-beams will take much longer to do and I would like to have this out with in few weeks.
Two knowing that people will probably like to make holiday themed parks like they did last year I figured some people might find these to come in handy.
I will try to have some pictures of the set as a work in progress up later today or tomorrow.

Can't wait for the recolourable light emitters! They'll come in really handy, because to be honest the neons looked a bit weird with no coloured light coming from them...

Not to keep people waiting forever here is a set update.
The modeling of pieces is about 80 percent complete (yes the will be a few additional pieces beside lighting emitters in the set);)
The only reason why there are no screenshots yet of the final objects is because for final sets I am hoping to use texture referencing and currently we hit some unknowns with recolorable lights and referenced textures. Hop fully it will be figured out this weekend other wise if worse comes to worse I just wont used texture references because I know the lights will work for sure that way from my test sets.
I am hoping to have molding done this weekend and start building the official theme by Tuesday and have it all imported by next Sunday so then all that will be left is icons.

^ nice glad to here you like them
Well I finally got the bugs out fully and have a picture to show every one.

Know that you can visually see it I will explain all the options you are seeing for each light emitter.
Since I am sure we all know how there a three recolorable options on scenery each piece has three setting you can set.
1.You can set the color of the light emitter
2.You can set the light color
3.(This is where it gets interesting) you can set if you want a glow and what color it is around the light emitter.
All together this will give a lot of options I am sure many people will find useful.
Also besides this set using texture referencing to decrees lag it also uses LOD settings to decrees lag. While the first setting of the lighting emitter has 112 faces as you zoom out it goes down to 60 and then 24 faces. Which should defiantly help keep lag from the pieces down especially when you use a lot of them in one park.

Sorry for the double post big update.
The stranded lighting emitters are now complete in position one and offset one position one (like the previous sets). There are 7 different strengths in each position.
http://www.csf.coaster-net.com/images/NeonLightingSetRcleP2.JPG
The glow emitters is the next part of the set will included 4 different size glow pieces in 8 positions making for 32 pieces in total. Also what i did was to make these pieces more useful i put a light of strength 3 in them since its a standard light size.
http://www.csf.coaster-net.com/images/NeonLightingSetRcleP4.JPG
The glow emitters are including centerpieces, which can be linked together to forum rows of lights.
http://www.csf.coaster-net.com/images/NeonLightingSetRcleP3.JPG
Theses pieces dint have the draw distance problems of the original lighting emitter you can practically see them all they way zoomed out.
That's all for know more to come tomorrow. I am trying to have all models in game and done by Friday and so far i am on target.

Now that the 32 lighting emitters are completed they make for some interesting lighting options.
Here is a picture showing how you can put lights on your buildings.

Could you arange them also in the way like curved walls, so we could make light-circles as base of an alien-space. It would be great, if they could pulsating, but I'm not sure, if this is possible.

No, that's not possible. Maybe with animation, but I'm not sure if you could make them pulsate or only flicker on and off.
There is a way to make them flicker like a torch, but this is mutually exclusive with them being recolourable.

Huuum for being able to use them on circular wall pieces i am not sure. I think we would need quite a lot of positions and chance rs are they wont be easy to figure out.
If any one has any ideas on how to make lights for circular wall let me know i would consider it if we could find a fairly simple way of making it work.
Would people be interested in lights that fully support diagonal pieces cause that i know i should be able to do.

I suggest:
http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/5418/lightstd6.png (http://imageshack.us)
- What I've drawn is a quarter tile, so the grid is in modeller units.
- Each should be individual.
- The red/orange difference is only to make clear which ones should be aligned to the grid (red) and which ones to the circle (orange).

Belgabor, your idea is good, but there should be two more lights on the circled line, because CSF has always 5 lights in a row for a single tile. (looks like that the lights are very small).
Nice.
I like the one with the different colours one on top of the other.
When will this be available for download, I think it would go gret with my ride, The Abyss (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8189075#post8189075)

^ thanks.
Well this set is still under way but do to being extremely busy its fallen quite a bit behind schedule. My originally intention for this set was to have it out in time for people to use in there Christmas's parks. So what i can do if people are interested is release bata version of the set. The set already has the lighting emitters done and the glow emitters for that standard walls done. so its defnitly in a usable state.
So if your interested in a bata version post it up and if there is a decent want for it i will have the bata up this weekend.

I would say do whatever you have time for! If you have time, then most definitely send me the beta package! But if not, don’t worry about rushing it out. I am sure that anything you release will be well worth the wait! Just keep up on the great work.

Thanks for the positive feed back. Its definitely helping to motivate me to squeeze in some extra time to work on this set.
Knowing that this will be a large set (probably around 75 pieces) i have put in a system of order using number and filters.
If name starts with 1 its a light emitter
If name starts with 2 its a glow emitter for standard walls
If name starts with 3 its a glow emitter for diagonal walls
If name starts with 4 its a glow emitter for circular walls
If name starts with 5 its a glow emitter for lighting tubes
As for filters lighting emitters will be under miscellaneous, standard wall glow emitters will be under wall pieces, diagonal wall and circular wall lighting emitters will go under corners, and lighting tubes will be under roof pieces.
I am actually going to see about getting done some icons this weekend. Then if i do a bata release it will be more like a prerelease since everything in clodded will have been complet already.

Dumb question, why don't you put them into different groups? You can have more than one group in one set.

I actually though about braking this up in to separate sets but then i felt it would make it even worse to work with. Lets say you wanted to make a diagonal wall or a rounded wall you would still need to go and use the standard glow emitters to fully fill it in (being this is going to be like 100 piece set i don't want to start having duplicate pieces. What i might be able to go is group the lighting emitters and the ligating tubs together. I would defnitly like to here some people opinions on this.
In other news i redid some more naming to make the order the pieces more logical as to what pieces go together and what pieces are the most likely to be used most often. I also have icons for the first 50 pieces completed.

Wait do you mean like submenus with in a set like were you click on lighting emitters and then you can pick from for example light emitters and then see the list of light emitters. If this is what your referring to pleases fill me in on how this is possible.
Or do you mean like when you install the set that it comes up as two separate categories in the menus.

I don't think the first one is possible, I thought about the second one, just like Vodhin did in his latest version of the Vermont theme.

Aahh alright i will defnitly think about doing this if the community would enjoy this. But before i go and restructure the set for the third time::eek: would any one else be interested in me doing this.

Sorry for the doable post but a decision has to be made.
If this is going to be two separate sets in the menu how about i just make it two sets. I actually have what i would consider the first set complet already (the light emitters ans stranded glow emitters). Basically all that is left to do is zip it up and upload it.
Know here is why i have to decided by tomorrow i am going to start importing tomorrow pieces that would be in the second set right know most of them are stile SCN files and not ovals so changing the reference for a new set is not a big deal. But if i continue with one set its not going to be easy to break it up after tomorrow.
So BASIC what i need to know is what does the community want one or two sets (remember there will stil be like 50 pieces in each set even if i make them two sets)?

Ok, this is a really nooby question, but here goes, when I clicked on your lighting set , it opened, then i scrolled down to click on the first light thing, but then it froze, so I ctrl+alt+del'd to the desktop and found a message saying ""no :siv: for :svd:" and the title said something about lightingRecolourableEmitters.....
Any ideas?
I just thought, will it be a problem if I changed the name of the folder the stuff was in after I unzipped it?

Well after spending some time working on some other stuff. I am back to custom scenery and the steel I beam set is finally going to be finished.
Common i only started it 6 months a go:p
Well it's coming back new and improved. All pices are being re done to reduce polygon count and to use texture referencing.
More information is coming soon. I am hoping to have set 1 out in a week or so thanks to the improvements belgobor made to the importer which are saving me alot of time this time around;)
