Hi Guys, Belgabor has resparked my interest in rct3, with the great work he' done on the importer, so here's my first offering for some time.

Its Complete except for the icon's, those of you who know me know I hate the icon bit, so if there's anyone who wants to do the icons for me :D (no I'm serious) If not I'll get around to it sometime this week.
Enjoy

What exactly would you call it? Like a gothic spooky castle set?

I can see this blending in quite nicely with Belgabor's Snowset... yeah, I know they're completely different textures, but it's something I could find very handy... ;)

Great! Nice to see you around. You and all of the older members, such as Milkdud have been popping in recently!

If you would work in Blender, I'd (probably as it's a only semi-tested idea) have a very easy how-to make icons. Maybe it's possible in 3DSmax as well. Can't you render to a png with transparent background? It's pretty easy in Blender if you know how.
Edit: I forgot, the pieces look great =) Glad to have (re)sparked your interest.

Nice to see yo back in to custom senery. Looking really good so far. Just trying to figure out exactly what it is for:p I am thinking some type of castle set.
I also hate the icons my self, hop fully Belgabor will eventually figure out how to make icons even simpler. He has already came up with so many great ideas for the importer so there hope:)
The biggest helps i have came up with for my self has been to set up a grid on the texture sheet i will be using so all i have to do is drop and place and to make use of the icon numbers it goes up and down in column starting with 0 being the left upper corner.

I think MaxInfinity more referred to the process of creating the icons themselves, less to setting up the references. The latter one will surely be made easier when I have time for the next big update (which unfortunately could be a while). For icon creation I'll soon write up my idea for Blender, maybe some non-Blenderers will consider learning enough of it to use it for creating their icons :D

It's great to see you back with a new set. Looks very promising.
But sorry , that i ask this too. Will you fix your "old" DC-castle-set and add the missing roof-parts? You know, that this set is one of the most favourite themes here.

Thanx guys
As for the DC Castle set, Its been so long. Tell me what needs fixing, my version is fine, and tell me what pieces are missing and if its not too much work, I may get around to doing something with it. I know the icons need doing, god I hate doing icons. The trouble is the set is too large, something I should have forseen in the begining, but did'nt. There's probably 3 times as many pieces needed to complete the project, thats 3 times as many icons, I hate doing Icons, which at the moment is totally out of the question. If I did'nt have to load rct3 everytime to check and recheck each object, and do the icons, I might consider it. I know belgabor is working on an object viewer for the importer, if this works out ok, I would certainly attempt it. I'm also having no luck with the referenced textures, which is really needed for the set. Oh and I forgot to mention the icons, I hate doing icons. And my time is a thin on the ground aswell, and I hate doing icons.

Thanx Belgabor, The answer was right infront of me all the time, I can save the icon files directly from max's renderer as 64 x 64 .png with alpha channel, then just stick them together in the right order in a 512 x 512 .png and bobs your uncle, or aunty in some cases. But if belgabor can make it any easier, I'm all for that (full auto iconing)

Looks awesome!!! I love your castle set, it's just a little difficult to use without icons.
This is looking fantastic though, I can't wait to see more!
P.S. Where the hell have you been???

It's not horribly well known, and uncompleted, but the installation mid-game was a feature that was attempted. Not having it myself, I wouldn't know. RCT3X would know, if you P.M. him. He's the webmaster of, well the RCT3X site and is in control of distribution of it.

But I've just worked it out (better late than never) For those of you that don't know, and I'm sure there arnt many, you can install cs when the game is already loaded, If your at the main menu screen. So you don't have to load from the start each time like I was doing:noob:
I don't believe it all that wasted time:o

I have heard people say about the no sid for svd, I don't know what it is, My version works fine, I'm just wondering if the people having problems are running one of the older DC sets aswell, that could be the problem, as I say it works fine for me.
Can't upload rar files
coinich
11-24-2006, 09:26 PM
No, it's not that. It gives some exception while loading. When the bar reaches 60% at startup, it freezes until you alt-tab to the exception window or just press enter. You continue normally, but it becomes annoying having to do it over and over. Something about an overlay not reaching the expected size is what it says.

I'll send you the version I'm running if you want to try it, like I say It works fine for me.
I can't upload .rar files to your site so I can't upload the CS and I don't use winzip, so I hav'nt got a copy.

It's great to see you back, Max! I can't wait to see what new things you come up with.
I also hope you can fix the glitch with your Castle Set. It only occurs when you have the Max DC Walls set installed. The game stops loading and you need to tap the space bar to bypass the error message to continue loading. I forget what the message says, though. But the other packs in the Castle Set work fine.

I see you've been busy, Some awsome stuff there.
I'll send you the version of DC that I'm using if you want to try It, But I suspect the problem is because you have one or more of the old DC sets installed as well as the latest one. Remove the old sets from the style/themed folder, dont delete them just move them, leaving just the latest version. If that does not work, I will look into it. As I say I'm running it with no problems at all, but I only use the latest DC pack.
Both The Pyramid Sets are finished (See Pyramid post) Will upload today.
The Brick set in this post is a bit behind as I've changed all the positioning and I'm hopefully extending it. If I can get the hang of shared textures I may update the DC set.

I've got the same error that Shyguy discribes, and it looks like this:
http://www.rct-theme-world.de/newpics/errormax.jpg
I have download the complete castle-set-package from sebar's host, maybe you should update this set with a "working" version. Maybe it's just a little thing to fix it. But to be fair. It takes just a click on the enter-button to continue the loading and it works then without any problems.
What I really want to see are that colourable roof-parts, that you have started but never released. And if you ever want to work the whole set over again (I really wish, you will this :)), it would be greeat, if you can make all building-parts as quarter-tiles, so we could place them anywhere we want.

PM me your email address and I'll send you the one I'm using to see if you get the same problem. This problem is not happening to me.
Before you install it just move your DC set folder from style/themed to somewhere safe and unzip the emailed version to style/themed. Then let me know how you got on.
I'm just on my way out so you might not get it for an hour or so.....

I've added some new curves, Inner radius and outer radius and a larger radius curve. These will fit snugly round the curved track on your rides.

Good to see you are at it again. Now I know it is YOU that has been making all those crop circles around the world. LOL
Nice pack you have going here. Are you going to make windows for some of those cool curved pieces? You have been busy. I want to ask you like so many others have, will you please redo the castle set? I think it is a very beloved set around here.
I can tell you that I will use this set when you complete it. You picked a great texture.

Good job with the models. That can't be easy, getting them perfect like that unless you script.

11-27-2006, 08:28 AM
Thanx Guys
Teirmose, yes I'm responsible for the crop circles lol
I do have plans for some windows for this set but not on the curved walls, as I would have to make about 8 versions for each window.
Coinich
Actually the modeling is the easy part, The curved wall sections took about 5mins each to model. 3ds has so many tools that modeling is a dream.
The hardest and longest part is the textures, and while its not hard to do, it is very time consuming If your using any kind of patterned texture.
They should be seamless, so that when you connect 2 objects together with the same texture, they blend in and look like a single object.
I spend days looking for textures, and sometimes hours mapping them, and sometimes I have to make my own if I can't find what I need.
I can't emphasize this enough, Its all about the Textures, a good texture can make a bad model look great but a bad texture can make a great model look bad, It really is as simple as that. So 99% of your time should be used on the textures and 1% on your model> The only thing you need to worry about with your model is that it uses the least amount of faces/polys it possibly can without losing its shape, Its welded/unwelded where necessary and its aligned correctly. Ofcoarse it does have to vaguely resemble what its supposed to be.

May sound like a saucy advertisement, but have a look at Wood Workshop/Genetica Viewer linked on my software page. These make seamless textures. With a bit of creative (mis)use they can be really useful (The base for my igloo texture was done in Wood Workshop).

That new curved walls looks fantastic. I really could need them for two buildings, that I want build at the end of my park-mainstreet.
Unfortunatly i need them with a more stukko (and recolourable) texture and with doors and windows as you can see on the picture below:
http://www.rct-theme-world.de/images/stories/alt-berlin.jpg
Just a small hint for another great set ;)
MaxInfinity
11-28-2006, 09:48 PM
Thanx belgabor I did download a seamless texture creator some months back but never got round to using it.
Thanx Spanky, I'm thinking of adding the curved wall pieces or ride huggers as I call them, to the pyramid sets, so you will have a recolourable set, as for windows I have no plans to add widows to the curved wall pieces, but I may change my mind, I may just do a set of recolourable curves with windows as a set on its own. But I have another set I'm working on aswell as this one. I have a bit of spare time at the moment, but I dont know for how long, so I'm trying to finish what I've already started.
