What songs do you want to have in Driver 5's soundtrack? I'd like to have all of the real songs from Driver 2, 3, and PL. I'd also like to have the following:
"Mr. Blue Sky" and "Turn to Stone" by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)
"Pain" by Jimmy Eat World
"Midlife Crisis" by Faith No More
"Meltdown" by Ash
"Not Everyone" by Nine Black Alps
"Brother" and "Doorman" by The Sterophonics
"F.I.G.H.T." by The Unwritten Law
"Paint it Black", "I Can't Get No Satisfaction", and "Last Time" by The Rolling Stones

"Surfin' Safari" and "Surfin' USA" by The Beach Boys
"Horse With No Name" and "Ventura Highway" by America
"Hanh!" by The Ying Yang Twins
"Dancing in the Street" by Mick Jagger and David Bowie
"Runnin' Down a Dream" by Tom Petty
"Struter" by Kiss
"Free Bird" by Lynard Skynard
"Welcome to the Jungle" and "It's so Easy" by Guns 'n' Roses
"Back in Black" and "Shook me all Night Long" by ACDC
"Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol
"Viva Las Vegas" and "Jailhouse Rock" by Elvis
"New York, New York" and "My Kind of Town" by Frank Sinatra
"In the Mood" and "Pennsylvania 6-5000" by Glenn Miller
"Nights on Broadway", "New York Mining Disaster 1941", "Stayin' Alive", "Massachusetts", and "Tragedy" by The Bee Gees

"Cold Blooded" by Rick James
"Check Yourself" by Ice Cube
"The Mess Around", "I Got a Woman", and "Shake a Tail Feather" by Ray Charles

"She Caught the Katy", "Everybody Needs Somebody", and "Sweet Home Chicago" by The Blues Brothers

"Peter Gunn Theme" by Henry Mancini
"That Old Landmark" by James Brown
"Think" by Aretha Franklin
"Boom Boom" by John Lee Hooker
"Take the A-Train" by Duke Ellington

So what do all of you think for these ideas for the music soundtrack? What are yours?

Now how can you really expect Reflections to put all those songs that you listed into the next Driver game? I think that the soundtrack is the last thing that they'll ever want to take as an idea from someone. No offense, but I think that Reflections will put together a soundtrack of however they want it to be rather than listen strictly and at every point to its fans, thinking that they've got better ideas than Reflections themselves.

Well then, if they put in only what they want, they'll disappoint a lot of fans. Remember, it's not what you want... it's the consumer.

I shut the music off for all my games to increase the atmosphere, so music is rarely a concern. However, I don't need singing, just some cool 70's style music like from the Driver 1 menu screen, even if there's modern cars and vintage vehicles in one city. Then maybe I'd listen.

Even in GTA, I shut the music off, it's very distracting when trying to hit that jump at just the right angle, cops ramming your bumper, and restarting the mission for the 100th time.

Really? Then why is it that Reflections didn't put guns in D2? I don't think that development teams work 100% for consumers because they may want to have fun with their games too, so they put together their own things for that too. It would seem as if they don't care for themselves at all and only for the fans and I just couldn't see that ever be felt in anyone's eyes.

So anyway, anybody got a favorite song that they want to have in Driver 5? Does anybody like my ideas? If you do, then which songs do you like that I chose?

Pain was also from MC3's song list.

I'd choose Elvis' Viva Las Vegas for NV, Sinatra's NY, NY for NYC.

I got the list from songs from SA and MC3: Remix, CDs that I was looking at, and some others that just popped into my head.

I would like to hear ''Route 66'' by Chuck Berry
''Wild Wild West'' by Will Smith
''Low Rider'' by War
etc., etc.

I liked the music they had on Driv3r.I wouldn't mind having a soundtrack similiar to Driv3r or Need For Speed. To me,the music gets me all pumped up and helps me out.

I loved the way in D:PL they got lots of instrumental tracks from the 70's that I'd never really heard. I thought that was fantastic, and really made it seem like it was the 70's. I'd also like to see some more exclusive D1 like music from Allister Brimble for the really intense missions, but I liked the licensed music in D3 as well, so long as it sounds like it could have been around back then.

Some music even made me drive better sometimes.

I'd also like to hear Johnny Cash's "I've Been Everywhere". That's a great song that needs to be in Driver 5 for sure! I can never sing that song right. Johnny Cash just sings that song very quickly and clearly, very original!

Did you guys notice that most of the Driver franchises' soundtracks contain songs that aren't very familiar to society? I was looking for the DPL soundtrack and even for D3 songs on google, but I only found stuff about it and nothing to listen to. By comparison to GTA's soundtrack, I'd say that GTA wins for the most record as we do see familiar songs most of the time and I think that Driver should do that too because it can't stand on its own with bands performing that aren't as familiar or even talented as those others out there in the world.

Mr. Tanner
12-25-2006, 11:36 AM
No, to me, D:PL has a MUCH BETTER soundtrack than any other GTA game. And also, I don't want it the way it was done in Driver 1, 2, and 3. I want it the way it was done in D:PL where they're REAL SONGS by REAL ARTISTS and it's good stuff that almost everybody will recognize.

The kinds of genres for music that I want to see in D5 are rock, metal, hip-hop/rap, Jazz, R&B, Country, Classical music, Traditional, and even Techno. I want to see a huge variety of different songs for the next game instead of one particular genre because that could get old fast and I like almost any kind of genre for music. GTA hasn't used all of the genres, or may it has, but that doesn't mean that Driver shouldn't.

Why Thank you, Mr. Tanner and Merry Christmas to you too.
Thanks man! You know, this is giving me an idea. I was thinking, the holiday time should come by when you play Driver 5. And you'll see people singing holiday songs, christmas trees all lit, christmas lights, maybe some snow, and people wearing warmer outfits too. What do you think of this?

john cena
12-25-2006, 11:56 AM
I think that would be cool. However, if it's going to implement seasons into the game, I'd expect that the game will pass a few months after a certain mission is completed as to rather than be having to play an entire 365 days of one year. If there is a mission that has to be completed and moves the game into winter at around Christmas time, I'll be mightily impressed, especially since you'll be able to drive around on snow and even walk on it. There could be room for another season like Summer too, so we'd get two of the biggest seasons around, all in one package. And people and events would go on based on that. Even songs would be based on that time. What do you think of this, Mr. Tanner?

Mr. Tanner
12-25-2006, 12:00 PM
Are you saying that the songs can vary by season? Na, I'd rather have all songs available to me at all times. I also don't mind if the time in the game is real time (1 minute on earth = 1 minute in the game). It makes it realistic, I'd love to have long days and nights, and I don't mind it if you can fast forward the time by saving.

john cena
12-25-2006, 12:10 PM
Actually you're right, but having some of them vary on seasons wouldn't be a bad idea at all.

I'd only like that if you could at least have an option in the pause menu to have all songs available to you. Like in Midnight Club 3, you could narrow it down by a certain genre, or just listen to anything you want.

john cena
12-26-2006, 03:46 PM
That would be a good idea, Mr. Tanner. However, if you didn't notice, it was actually Need For Speed Underground that allowed you to narrow down the songs first, so don't go saying that the Midnight Club franchise has the best racing games around when doesn't. I, for one, would say that the Need For Speed games along with Burnout and even Gran Turismo are the best ones around.

Yeah I love the Need For Speed music.

Or you know what? I'd like to download tunes not in the soundtrack onto the game! Is that possible?

john cena
12-27-2006, 10:47 AM
In that case, we should be able to make customizable soundtracks for the game when the PS3 will be able to download music and other stuff.

Or songs off of your IPOD or MP3 player (I got an IPOD for Christmas BTW). In fact, I think I'm going to download the D:PL soundtrack off of the D:PL website soon.

john cena
12-27-2006, 10:52 AM
I don't really think that would be possible, but I do know that you can buy songs off the PS3 itself because Phil Harrison pointed out, at E3 2006, that we'll be able to have a sort of Myspace on the PS3 and be able to customize it even with songs, as we go buying them. I simply don't remember hearing about being able to download music off the internet or off an ipod to the PS3.

Well just to let you know, my brother got what he wanted for Christmas (an XBOX 360). And he said you can take tunes off of your IPOD and put it on the console. Don't ask me anything about the XBOX 360, I don't know too much about it.

I wasn't talking about the 360. As you can see, I mentioned the PS3 several times in my post, so where does it tell you that I was referring to the 360?

I just wanted to add something. But my point is, it would be cool to customize the soundtrack ourselves.

One song I love in D:PL with all of my heart and soul is "Suffragette City" by David Bowie. I want that song in ALL future Driver games!

I like that song too. But there are two songs, they're instrumentals (no words) that I like, and I don't know what they're called. Both are in 78, one features a guitar with a wah pedal, the other features a piano at the beginning, but I haven't listened to the whole thing cause I'm busy dodging traffic.

I guess if worst comes to worst, I could learn the songs and record them myself, but it won't be the same, as I can't play drums (yet). I'm looking to work on that though.

Custom soundtracks is a must have for the next Driver game as it'll push the replay value further and give us all the best sound that we can possibly get out of a video game on a 7th generation console.
