Well since the other pier park is scrapped due to these plans, and since I annouced it yesterday I present the PK Studios first chain park. . .

Well Nelson was happy when he got hold of a old former FANTASIA Boardwalk. Now he has bought it.


Well Iam proud to annouce the pier. When the area was available, we had the chance to get it as fast as possible.

Theres one building that stands out, many patrons fear it. Back in 1985, This and the Arcade was the only things on the boardwalk. Yet this ride has a name. It is known as the Ocean Island Mansion. It is a walkthrough attraction that scare the living hell out of people.

We are supportive of the new rides. As well as the coaster Thriller. We hope to fit more or at least expand the pier. So far we have sent out a wave of advertisements for PK STudios. Enjoy as they truley are a piece of work.

I'm enjoying this park so far. When I was a kid, we sometimes used to go to Wildwood beach in NJ (I know, but hey it was close, we lived about 2 hours away). They had a boardwalk there, and there were 4 or 5 piers that were like smallish amusement parks (actually they weren't so small, given that they were piers). This reminds me a LOT of those piers.

About the logos and Photoshop... may I suggest trying to use some of the build-in layer features and effects? I use PS elements, not the full version, so I can't tell you exactly what to click on, but there should be ways to generate layer effects... You can use this with layers of letters, to give them bevels and such, which makes them look more like they were professionally printed. Also, you can find backgrounds like waves and so on, and you can use that to help give things a more professional appearance.

Lastly... what setting or camera mode did you use to get those shots of the high rides? I can never get my camera to tilt up like that....

Everyone the park has only been open for one summer, but this winter has some changes. While walking by today I took pictures of what I could see was a crane with a darkride trailer. And the coaster! And a new ride! Mr. Nelson has a lot in store for us this summer.

I don't know if I've ever actually posted to one of your boardwalk parks, but I have been watching them closely ever since you started building them. I love the way your parks are set up - they feel so real and compact, but there is a lot of imagination put into the facades of your structures. This boardwalk is definately your star. It has a life all its own and it just looks fun to be in...even when there are no people. Im interested to see your coasters develop (i know more are on the way, there just has to be!) and i hope you do videos for all of your major rides here. It would be great to see this park in action.

The only thing i can critique are your logos - Your park is so colorful and fun and real, but your logos are anything but. And i know its difficult to make them sometimes, especially when you don't understand the program you're making them in all that much. So i wanted to give you a head start developing a park logo that really mirrors the aura of your boardwalk:

What many don't know, there was once a better resort amusement pier back then. It is known as the original Ocean Pier. Back in 1970, Deven Stroke was to build this pier one winter, haveing many interesting darkrides, and thrilling age rides. This was before Pk Studios.
Back then there was no pier accept this one. In 1972 they added the Roller Coaster, which wasn't original but was a favorite ride of all that lived back then. In 1984 Deven changed the name to Sea Fun Pier. Then a year later a owner named John Hanckok, copyied the name Ocean pier for his newly built pier, which is where Pk Studios is on.
It was very small, it only had a arcade which is here, a minature golf coarse and the mansion. The mansion was the towns biggest attraction, and slowly began taking the life out of the other pier. Deven retired and gave his pier to his cousin Steve Stroke, who tried reviving it. He added a small wildmouse, and new rides, in 1990 he started to relize he had to forfit. But tragic came as The Southern trim of the pier burnt down, not all of it. But he left, later he returned tring to revive it, but failed. All rides were taken away, a couple lay there. Later years they to dissapeared.
In 1997 Pk Studios was built, and was a hit, as they thought they could add on, they bought John's small piece of paradise. Now in 2004 people of the town wait as this is the first time entertainment will fill the boardwalk again, since 1993 from old ocean pier.
The good news is, Mr. Nelson is planning in the near future to buy the broken down pier, and someday may revive it. . .

Looks good, you've captured the boardwalk feeling very nicely here!
I liked the wall with the billboards all over it, that was a nice touch.. I usually don't like the big letters for ride signs, but for a park of this style it is a nice fit.

I don't know if the Catfish Cove wood floors would look better, maybe in this case the vanilla ones are actually the best choice, as they convey a slightly second-class look inherent to boardwalks.. (first class being something like Disneyland)

I know what the dark ride is! It's non other than Bill Tracy's Whacky Shack! You spelled shack wrong, it's SHACK not SHAK. My pier park has it's first dark ride under construction, Frankenstein's Castle at the far end of the pier. I used the castle walls from the Screamworx set. And a large custom sign on the front second level balcony saying Frankenstein's Castle and a tall banner with a Frankenstein statue on it. The first room is Frankenstein's Lab (a large banner picture of a lab) and old Franky himself on the table getting charged up, the one in-game under the spooky horror scenery. Then you go up to the second level and make your way toward the front and out across the balcony next to the Frankenstein statue and sign, then back in and a few turns and down, more turns and out. It's a pretty large dark ride. I got my inspiration from a long-lost attraction that used to be at Wildwood, NJ from 1978-1982 burned 1984 at the end of a pier called Castle Frankenstein. That one was a walk-through, mine is a ride through. There are a few existing attractions called Frankenstein like Frankenstein's Castle at Indiana Beach, House of Frankenstein at Lake George, NY, and House of Frankenstein at Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. They're all walk-through. There was a one level dark ride called Kastle Frankenstein at Pirate's Fun Park, Salisbury Beach, Mass. north of Boston, but the ride was demolished early 2004 and the park closed for condos. It says on the Laff in the dark website article abut Kastle Frankenstein. I love dark rides that have Dracula, Frankenstein, Haunted House/Mansion/Manor, Whacky Shack, Pirate's Cove in the title.

RCT-Chessack, you must remember the great Hunt's Pier, don't you? It was alive and well in 1983, but then Bud Hunt the owner sold it fall 1985 and the new owners demolished half the rides in 1989 including the Flyer roller coaster built by PTC in 1957. The pier's manager, Vincent Kostek from 1957-1985 passed away last June. Bud Hunt passed away 1991. Vince helped build the Flyer and other rides. The Golden Nugget Mine Ride is the last ride standing. It's owned by Morey's Pier now. I actually tried building a Hunt's Pier and Wildwood in RCT, more recently in RCT3. I built the lost Castle Dracula attraction which was on the old Nickels Midway Pier opposite Mariner's Landing, the old coaster was torn down fall 1984 and a new waterpark opened 2000 replacing the rides, the castle burned down 2002, it's first season was 1977, the dungeon boat ride underneath was built 1919. It's all gone now. My RCT3 version was supposed to represent Wildwood the way it looked around 1980, when they had two wooden coasters (Hunt's and Nickels) and more dark rides. Wildwood is losing it's old motels left and right for condos lately. I was there between 1980-1983, I saw all the old amusements and dark rides before they went to amusement heaven. I went back between 1995-1998 and rode the Golden Nugget again before it closed again, and went through Castle Dracula several times and the boat ride.

I want to see a video of the Mansion! I hope you don't tear it down, I hate when parks get rid of haunted attractions! Please reopen the Whacky Shack! What is the other dark ride on the bigger pier? Can we see the front of it please? Is there an estimated date on when this park will be open to the public? (downloadable)

RCT-Chessack, you must remember the great Hunt's Pier, don't you? The Golden Nugget Mine Ride is the last ride standing.

I vaguely remember those two names. It's been 20+ years after all. And other than the 1982 trip, the other times we were there, I was very young. I do remember that my sister and I liked the Golden Nugget though... that's about the only ride I specifically remember.

RCT-Chessack, you should check out these sites www.funchase.com www.angelfire.com/nj/wwbysea/LEFT.html www.darkinthepark.com and www.laffinthedark.com They have everything about the old Wildwood and all the dark rides. There's an article on Funchase of the opening day of Hunt's Pier in 1957. The Golden Nugget was built in 1960 and operated for about 31 years then shut down in 1992, 1995 and reopened for a few years then shut down again in 1999. I rode it in 1980-1983, and again in 1996-1998. It was a great ride. I hope Morey's can get it running again. The other rides on Hunt's Pier are all on those sites. There's a video at Dark in the Park and You Tube of Hunt's Pier 1988 the last season for the Flyer coaster and other rides except Keystone Kops, Whacky Shack (retitled Hunt's Horror in 89), Golden Nugget, Log Flume, Rapids, and Sourier Grotte 2 level dark ride. All of the other rides except the Nugget, Flume and Rapids were removed early 1996. The Flume was removed 2001 and moved to Arnold's Park, Iowa, and the Rapids (which opened 1985-Bud Hunt's and manager Vince Kostek's last season at the pier) was just removed. We should support our small parks, we're losing them left and right. We lost about four parks last year across the USA such as Myrtle Beach Pavilion, Erieview in Ohio, Williams Grove in PA which might reopen, and Libertyland in Memphis.

I love the coaster as well, especially in how it interacts with itself.
It's compact as befitting a boardwalk, yet seems to still retain a measure of smoothness.

Whoever's familiar with Morey's Pier, Wildwood, NJ on Sportland Pier which is the northernmost pier above Morey's Pier the Dr. Blood's House of Horror dark ride was just torn down. It was closed for 20+ years and was built in the 70's. I am sad that this happened. It's my birthday today, Jan 14. I turned 33. Wildwood used to be my favorite place but now they're tearing all the good stuff down. Rehoboth and Ocean City, MD have better dark rides.

Jerry got caught taking snap shots of the interior and around the pier. Heres a clip of the park news. Jerry isn't to happy. . .


A patron has been caught in the middle of the winter. He has been charged for vandalism, and trespassing. He is going to the Cape May County Court house along with Mr. Nelson the park manager. "This may be the start of many to come." Says the manager. But the fans have requested whats going on here? The manager has no answer. "We are studieing the feasibility of keeping it." Says the park manager. Yet news will come later as this year may be big.

I have a Whacky Shack in my park but it's more like the two floor versions with the pointed roof on the top front. __/\__

It has most of the classic Bill Tracy scenes inside some of them pictures of the scenes on billboards. Those are doors on the bottom and a balcony on the top where the cars come out and go back in again on a ledge inside under the roof behind the station track. This ride is on an abandoned pier, and it has a fence in front of it. There will also be other SBNO rides on this pier. The other two or three piers will be operational. Please don't demo your Shack like what happened to Dr. Blood's. Perhaps you could rebuild the pier with a new wood coaster?

I don't know, the PK Organization is busy in the works of revonateing everything on there pier. So far the city owns the old pier. They have also have some rides in ware houses, located on the side of the boardwalk.

So Sir what plans are going on this month? We are eager to know.
Mr. Nelson says, "Well its to complicated to explain ,but much more is going on. In fact we have purchased some rides that are in storage outside the boardwalk. We plan to use them when we get the chance."
The owner of PK Studios also plans to buy the northern east piece of the old pier. It does effect Devan Stroke's original Pier, which is now handled by John Hancock. Since the lack of ability the pier had. It was to be torn down, or replaced by condominiuns. But later gave reason for Mr. Nelson to buy some of the pier. "Well I didn't want this pier to go down like a cheap shot. Since of Devon's death in 1997. I will keep it restored one day," Mr. Nelson said proudly.

Plokoon is a well respected meber on the forums and i dont think its necessary to frown upon him. This thread/park is very well built and I dont see why you putting it down. This park may have a lot of updates but how does that make it bad??? The updates that Plokoon has given us are very well detailed and always nice to look at. The threads with more updates are always awesome to come look at so you can see what surprise is next. This thread may not have been around long but ill tell you that it is sure making history on these forums.

Plokoon, the park has been very well developed and the theming is awesome. You have had this park progress awesomely well and the haunted masion ride was very well detailed. I really loved the added in sound effects. This is a great idea that you have come up with and I am for sure watching this thread :D Keep up the greatly awesome work on this project

Some breaking news have occured. We have yet to find out why. We knew that something was happening at the ol' pier. Well another ride is going to the scrap yard. This is as worse as when they demolished the coaster on the former Sea Fun pier/ Ocean pier. This is something that got many old timers mad. This old ride the Whacky Shack is demolished in pieces. It was ripped violently by the back by a crane and hell broke loose. It was sad to see what is seen today. The new owners of the old Ocean Pier have plans for something in the dinosaur familiy. PK Studios is not in charge of it. The Dino Co. owned the whole pier after Devon's son sold it, yet PK is surprised and would of kept this ride alive.'

We are sad to see this ride go. But the only question to say is why? Well as the owner of the park it would have been impossible to move this ride to our PK pier and if done it would have collapsed all togather if that plan happened. So they demolished it. By tommorow the whole ride will be pushed off the pier into a dumpster for good.

I am sad to see this go. The props will be moved and saved, and put into the historical Museum here in Ocean City. Yet Id have to agree with PK with the plan they had. It wouldn't of worked there is no space available. I rest my case.

Oh no, the Whacky Shack is being destroyed! That reminds me of Dr. Blood's or the Whacky Shack on the old Hunt's Pier in Wildwood that were destroyed like that. Is that pier in your park being rebuilt or just being dismantled and nothing there? Will there be a new wood coaster or a new dark ride to make up for the loss of the old ones? And is the Mansion being expanded that's what it looked like in one of the shots. I saw the Whacky Shack in the first park that I downloaded but it was all fenced up. I took a ride anyway and it was good. The other dark ride has nothing to it, it's just dark inside. Maybe you should consider another dark ride that has a haunted castle or haunted house theme to it with plenty of stunts like clock stunt, chandelier, ghosts, ghouls, blood walls, and more. You must ride the Stillwalk Manor sometime if you get to Seaside Heights, it's one of the best and scariest dark rides out there. Too bad the walk-through Haunted Manor on the other pier in Seaside left, they might set up somewhere else but not this year except for October.

One old ride at the Ocean Pier, not PK Pier. Many rides were around that were themed perfectly and fun was endless. It was a Disney land that layed on boards. Back in 1969 the ride came up by Tracy a famous artistic darkride designer built this attraction. The size was small, but detail was importance. Devon Stroke who was the owner at the time hired him, and he was surely surprised at how good this attraction was. Infact he hired him again later to design some shops at his pier. Towards the end of 1989, the pier was getting empty towards Devons son, Steve. It was a pain, as many anticipated its demise. Yet it stood there proudly. After a few years after Steve failed. It was one of the only rides to stand, along with the wooden coaster that got demolished in 2000, and the meoter which will reopen along with Dino Co's revonation. It wasn't til 2007 when it gets demolished.

Today was ever brutal. Nothing is left. Now the next phase Dino Co. that owns the old pier is going to clean the pier up, as you can see its in terrible condition. PK Studios is busy with their pier getting new rides.

Well tommorow ill have to drive by and take some shots of the big trash day, when Dino CO, cleans the pier. ( the coaster is newly built by PK Studios who bought a tiny part of the pier for there amusements. :cool:

No, no theres two owners. PK Studios owns the other Pier. Dino Pier is going on the property of the old Pier. There not sections. There two seperate parks from two diffrent owners.

Today was a big day for Dino Co. Not PK! Well they seem to make there first progress to revonate the pier. First was first, clean up the previous things sadly. They seemed to take everything away. There was no trace of the Deven's old pier. Whcaky Shack is gone, and the supports for the old rollercoaster that once stood here. Now done with the talking and heres some pictures!

Well they are kind of splittign the pier, and conserving space for there wooden coaster. There will be two entrances. The water is kept down to keep lag down.

Hey, that's a real shame about the Whacky Shack, that story sounds just like Hunt's Pier how new owners bought the pier and the former Whacky Shack (retitled Hunt's Horror in '89) was sitting there rotting, then over the winter of 96 they decided to throw it away and pushed it off the pier into a dumpster, not sure if the props were saved, to make way for the new Escape from Dinosaur Beach dark ride (now closed). Is this a case of the old pier in the RCT park being transformed into a Dinosaur pier (but no Golden Nugget ride)? Looks like there's nothing left to save, and is that wood coaster a new one? Is another dark ride going on the pier to make up for the loss of the Whacky Shack?

I live near Seattle now. No boardwalks around here that I know of. There is a waterfront of course, but it has no rides.

Actually, I think we have five. There's Wild Thing (Arrow Corkscrew) and Timberhawk (wooden) at Wild Waves and Enchanted Village, and there's Coaster Thrill Ride (wooden), Monster Mouse and Wildcat (Schwarzkopf looper) at the Puallup Fair.

This park is very nice... I love the way you use stroy line, I have started to use that in my parks and its cool. But the way you used it, it's like your in the park there watching all this stuff happen, keep up the good work and i cant wait to see more... and I think you should forward the idea of a wild mouse coaster thats always a boardwalk coaster...

Well guys I may be loosing intrest in the game, from lag, and other personal reasons. I may take a month break, sadly. I don't think it would make a big deal to the other park makers. But to me this project was going good. But im going to have to switch to another game for a while intil something gets me back to this. As well, plobally I may come back to continue this when I get a better video card. Who knows anything can happen. And don't think Im leaving for ever. I will come very now and then and help people. One thing I think is stopping many people from working on parks has to do with custom scenery. Now in days many parks are starting to get simlar using the same techniques and ideas. Back then we only had maybe four sets. And you couldn't beileve how many park makers did there parks. Boston was a great example, Montu, MDEking, Circle Vison, and Shyguy. I mean I still use old tricks without custom scenery. There are few that still have comlpex and intresting parks! But another reason for custom scenery is from all these sets, it makes lots of lag. And it makes the creator a bit more stressed on what to use, or to switch a theme. But this is just what I think now in days.
