For a long time I've been looking for information about official (based on A2000) development setup. Now with Handy dev version it has no use for programming but I think this is important and interesting piece of hardware that deserves it's place in history of Lynx.

you could also run it off a 3000. that's how i had my personal rig set up. when i was at Epyx i used a prototype for the Howard board that was hooked to an A500. that was pretty sweet. gotta love floppies...

well, or at least limited use. old HW, no support, etc. if i still had mine i'd likely be playing with it. it was a very slick devkit. sadly, mine wound up at the dump. i kept the 3000, it's still out in the garage and comes in to play a couple of times a year...i also still have an odd fixation on Dpaint that i developed while working on Lynx titles.

but I think this is important and interesting piece of hardware that deserves it's place in history of Lynx.

i agree. i feel that part of what made it work was the amiga itself. a task switching machine that natively ran the main art tools, hooked directly to the guts of a lynx. very cool, very integrated, especially for the time.

it was very strange to be working at atari with a Commodore sitting on the desk...

I'm sure, considering it was a competitor. But its understandable the main dev system used Amiga's given RJ's connection to both Amiga and Epyx/Lynx.

Very good point. Comparing it to other dev systems for other platforms of the time I would say it was not only advanced but also easy to setup. Look at Alpine system for Jaguar for example ;)

The Jaguar Dev kit is painful to use. Mainly becasue most NEW PC's
and windows cant deal with it becasue of the old DOS DPMI junk.

It is why we have hounded Brainstorm to cough up the sources all these years.
