This shows how the orbots unite to form Mighty Orbots. Note this show is not for sale and no studio has produced the show from its original airing. Nothing is available commercially. This is for critique discussion only, which follows review guidelines.

These shows were on in the 1970s and 1980s. Which show/series was your favortie and what do you remember best about them?

Voltron is a Japanese Anime that they changed into an American show, they took 2 different shows (was going to be 3 shows) and combined them into one. Much like they did when they created Robotech out of Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Super Dimensional Calvary Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeda. The 2 shows they used were Hundred Beast King Five Lion, and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV. They were considering a Third Voltron series using footage from the show Light Speed Electric God Albegas, but it never got made (except as a toy from Bandai). They are currently releasing the Voltron series on DVD, but some time this year, they are going to be coming out with the Japanese versions of the show.

As for why it is on really late at night on "Adult Swim" cause they got the rights to show it, and had nothing else cool to show at about 5 am. BTW before/after that show is Gigantor (AKA Tetsujin 28).

BTW Tim, I am not certain if Gobots or Transformers are widely considered "Anime", even though they both were animated in Japan. They were sort of 30 minute "Toy Commercials" (especially Gobots).

BTW I was watching SDF Macross Vol. 7 (The last one), and they had a special feature on "Memories of Macross" almost the entire ADV staff came together because of that show. ADV is currently one of the largest distributors of Anime in the USA, and they got their start because of Macross. So it goes to show you that anime definately has a huge influence on daily life, and even business.

Neither Go bots or Transformers are considered anime really. As far as I know, Transformers wasn't animated in Japan either but merely copied the style.

Some of the later Transformers shows such as RID, Cybertron, & Energon were done in Japan, but I suppose that the original was an American show. However since it was based on a Japanese toy line (actually 2 toy lines) it could be argued that it is a "psudo-anime", BTW one of the toy lines used for Transformers was also used for Gobots.

Well see that is why I say also "anime related" in the thread title.
