Jonnyears' Dalek Ship
RELEASED


If any of you have read the Doctor Who request thread,
you will have known that I have been working on a Dalek
Ship recently

I know what you are thinking- What the heck is a Dalek Ship?!

A Dalek Ship basically looks like a UFO/ Flying Saucer, but in this case
it is used to carry millions of Daleks

So this what a Dalek ship looks like, it can also be used for many
other Sci- Fi attractions as it is basically a Flying Saucer

I know that it doesn't look like the actual thing just yet, I still have
alot of things to do to it like the 'Fanciness' on the sides etc.

looking good, how many polys does it have?

edit: also, if you dont put all the fancy bits on it, then peeps could use it as a normal UFO and not have to use it as part of a Doctor Who ride/park.

In fact it shouldn't have too many polys because
the spheres aren't whole spheres- They are just halves etc.

The ship is currently 456 polys so it is okay at the moment

As I said- I have done some work to try and reduce the amount

Here is the first in-game photo, I know that it isn't great

I have a problem though,

The textures look appauling, I have been looking for about 6 hours
now but I just can't find a suitable texture. If anybody has a gold
(Dalek) texture 256x256 I would be realluy pleased

As soon as I get the texture, it can be released

I dont think the texture is that bad, if you use SIChrome in the importer, that may help the 'shiny' effect.

I didn't know about that- I have also found some
more textures on the internet which may work

Good thinking- As long as it's shiny, the textures should
be fine. I'll try that thing now then

I have just tried it again with the 6 items but when I
hovered over one of the items this message came up:

It all works fine if I just have one piece in the set but for some reason
it only comes up when there are multiple items

If nobody knows what I have to do, I'll just realease this set with
just one ship in it.

thats to do with the positions of the icons for each piece. Are you using seperate icons or 1 img with lots of icons?

If it's the first, make sure in the icon references are all like this:

Top: 0, Left: 0, Bottom: 64, Right: 64.

That error looks awfully familiar, I think you did something wrong in the importer, but I'm not sure. (something to do with creating OVL's?)

I am using one 512x512 picture with 64x64 images on it- When I did it
seperatlty, it crashed the importer

It's very weird- A while ago, I think I had this problem with my plinth
set. I managed to fix it somehow though. I can't remember how though :(

I really couldn't be fussed with all of this so I decided to
just release one Dalek Ship so that people can comment on it
and get some use out of it

I will update it soon so that it includes more ships

all of the stuff that I needed to make, I want to start
something BIG!

I hope that you enjoy the Dalek Ship- and yes, it will definetly
be updated with new textures and new models

for the Dalek ship

Also, I did originally have 6 ships but I could only import one
of them, I have just sorted that problem out so I can release
the full set soon

I'll wait until the texture is perfect until I do that
