Gift Shop Items 2 - released

Since my bowling set is almost ready to release. I thought I would give everybody a heads up on my next project. I have a whole bunch of ideas for a second gift shop set. I do want to fix the alignment in the first set, but I think I will do this set first.

Some things I am making:

- Map Stand
- Camera
- Film
- Security Camera
- Phone
- MP3 player
- Fire Extinguisher
- Wheelchair

I don't think that the beep sound would be
very good because they don't always beep- It only
happens when somebody has nicked something

Wow these sound like great additions. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

If you'd like other ideas, I'd suggest possibly a post card stand (similar to the map stand, but probably with slightly different dimensions).

I think that you could do it how Vodhin does his animations, I've forgotten what the technique is called but it should work for escalators

Although they might have metal detectors at the entrance of the park, I highly doubt most gift shops have metal detectors in them. Those would not detect or prevent shoplifting anyway, since thousands of items have no metal but could still be stolen.

They arent exactly metal detectors, the tags on most things are "magnetized" and those detectors pick up on the megnetized tags. Sometimes these magnetized things are just stickers stuck to the indise of a case or something like a CD or a video game case. And the only way to get through those detectors without setting them off is to have the clerk de-magnetize the tag.

Dawn great thoughts you have. What about a display case for the cameras and maybe a photo drop off to get developed? You could actually have a film and camera shop. Do you remember the camera Amazing Earl made for the top of the shops to advertise what is sold here??? That would be neat to have. With a counter of different digital cameras, a display of disposable cameras, Display of film, and batteries. Then you could also have a shelf with different kinds of frames on display for the pictures. Maybe a tri-pod with a picture displayed on it so the peeps can see what the frames looks like. Just throwing ideas at you. Love what you are doing. Kep up the great work.

No offense, but personally I see unneeded poly usage there. Sure, it looks great close up, but how often are you actually going to BE zoomed in that close? Go with the simpler box shape and put most of that detail in the TEXTURE not the model.

I know these arent exactly gift shop materials, but i thought they would fit in this set, so here they are. The shops were done by Psionic and put up for free as low-poly game houses to be used in a 3d game engine. All I did was resize them, adjust the placement and change the texture a bit.

Dkimber1974 when you done the gift shop 2 and I like to download your stuff. what is next? you already have sport, gift, bowling and gift shop 2. maybe the Hospital Stuff? when roller coaster and rides accident. peep need better hospital than first aid. you already got computer and wheelchair. how about hospital bed, iv, stretch bed on wheel, x-ray light, oxygen, privacy wall board, heart beat monitor, hospital tools, blood pressure, clutches, hospital sign "red cross", ambulance, and more if you have an idea?

Nice work DK! Are the low-poly buildings included with this set? I thought you said they were but wanted to make sure. I had also seen those models and thought they would be great even as background buildings, glad you brought them to RCT3.

Yes, you may be registered here at the Atari site, but the download is at RCT Revalutions.
Which also requires registration to download Dkimber's objects.

Dkimber is not a Hosted Designer, she is a staff designer.

I registered, I got the e-mail activation, it said I was now registered, but when I click on the link to your download file, I get the same message, I am not allowed access to this part of the download area. I get other downloads, just not yours. That one seems to be off limits to new people or something.

I registered and got three different messages telling me I am now a registered user. I tried to log in as requested and the login is not valid and now I am locked out. This has got to be the most frustrating log-in register crap I have ever gone through. I do everything I am asked, I follow all the rules, and still can't even log in now that I am supposedly registered and everything has been accepted. But now because my user name and password, which I was told in one of the three e-mails has been accepted, is now locking me out because of two attempts to log in is considered to many failed attempts. Just not worth all the trouble for one set of scenery.

I sent an e-mail to the webmaster and he banned me from the group for complaining and *****ing. I even got on the board finally while awaiting a reply from him. I thought I would give it another chance, Same user name and password that has been rejected every other time was accepted and I went to the welcome thread and posted a nice reply (never even mentioned al the trouble I was having) about my parks and stuff, and when I went to post that reply, I again was told I was not a member and could not post a reply. My login information was gone. Then I got his e-mail that I was banned for complaining.

I really don't think that was fair at all. I knew that I had to post 5 times to make sure I wasn't spamming, but I never even go the chance to post once before I was kicked off because I was frustrated and trying to get some help. I sent 4 different e-mails to the registration group and others listed, but got no reply. I sent one to him when I saw his address finally, and he kicks me off. :(:confused:

I known how you feel lol! Just wait a week, and it will be up on Vodhins site. Its only fair that RCT Revalations peeps get first go as DKimber is a RCT Revalations designer.

Well, I got Gift Set 2 and the first one, but maybe I am missing something here. The gift shops are just decoration buildings, right? They do not connect to paths so no one can go inside them, besides there is nothing in there anyway.

I put down some shelves, and then tried to put things like shoes, soccer balls, basket balls on the shelves, but nothing lines up correctly. The shoes are either in front or behind the shelves. Nothing will sit on the tables. The soccer and basket balls will sit only on the bottom shelf, and then their bottom half is buried in the shelves. Are these items meant to sit only on the floor. That makes for a rather strange store. Empty shelves and tables sitting around, but all the merchandise is scattered around on the floors? What am I doing wrong. I tried the Z key to rotate the items but that didn't do a thing except turn them and make them go even further away from the shelves. I have this problem with a lot of custom scenery. Most of it just doesn't work with anything else. The stuff like the computer and printer, you show on a booth table, but there is nothing like that in the set. Is this meant to go on the custom booth that came with the Soaked/Wild patches? If that is so, then I will try that, but somebody please explain how I can get all the stuff to go on the provided tables and shelves. If they don't work with each other, then what is the point?

Lost Boy you can place the buildings on the paths and it looks like they do enter the buildings. The other part of the sets you place in a structure that you make and then you can see what the peeps are doing in there. What is so hard to figure out here??

First, I mentioned all the problems I had trying to register and getting banned because I complained that the registration was not working, then getting unbanned because he realized he made a mistake. I got the downloads and am a registered user now. But it took two hours of haggling to get the registration to work.

Second, the buildings do not come anywhere near paths. They sit way back from the path and will not face the right directions if I try to get them closer. In Set 1 the items will not sit on the shelving provided, but I see that Dkimber1974 is redoing those so the items do line up, and I understand they are supposed to go in structures I create. I am not that stupid. I have lots of custom scenery that I place in my structures.

I do get the computer and printer and was just wondering if they will cover up the register and line up properly on the custom stall that is only a counter, register and CM behind the counter. I haven't had time yet to restart the game and check it out.

I am not knocking Dkimber 1974's work at all. It looks wonderful. I was only asking questions about lining things up to fit the shelves, and just checking to make sure the buildings were for decoration only and that peeps won't go in them.

The buildings do line up with the sidewalks. If you set the paths in an L shape underneath the buildings it will appear as if peeps are going in them. The new ones i am making go over the stalls too. Also the computer and printer work on the custom stall covers that Vodhin and shyguy made along with Belgabor's stalls but i dont know if they work on the original game stalls cause i havent tried them.

OK, I didn't double post. And from now on I will just not download any more stuff if I can't make a constructive comment about how something does or does not work. And I never ever knocked or swore or said anything bad about Dkimber1974, in fact she e-mailed me several times and we had very nice conversations.

I did try the Computer and Printer on the open stall from Vodhin and they do not line up at all. The computer only covers a portion of the cash register and the printer does not go on top of the counter. I can take a picture of what it looks like if you want. And I can't make the buildings sit on top of paths. They jump from one side to the other, not on top of paths. Maybe I have something in the options turned on, or some other controlling menu that I do not know about, I just don't know and can't make any of these work the way they are supposed to. Any help would be appreciated.

Now to achive this result, you need to use Belgabor's Really Custom Generic Shop Set V.1. I believe I used the 5th one in the pack for this stall along with shyguy's custom stall covers. Which this particular one in found in his Main Street 4 pack.

I don't want to keep bugging us. ok you can show to us about your idea or give your picture to us either and someone want to see it then can make a custom from your idea.
