This is why key sharing is not recommended. The key is stored in a file in your my documents under the test drive unlimited folder. Delete everything in this folder, and restart the game. If it does not prompt for a key, uninstall tdu, make sure that the my documents tdu folder has been deleted, and reinstall.

The key is actually stored in your registry. Do a registry search for Test Drive Unlimited and find it. I would suggest that if you are uninstalling TDU, that you remove the registry keys in case the installer is not doing so.

So you cleaned out the Test Drive Unlimited registry entires as well as the Test Drive Unlimited My Documents folder and it still "sees" your key?
How very strange.... Can you confirm you did this?

Uninstalled the game
then run regedit
find `` Test Drive Unlimited `` / `` Atari `` / `` Unlimited `` / Test Drive `` /
deleted all the keys
run registry mechanic
run a search (atari, test drive unlimited. vs. ) on a C:local disk * where i had insatlled deleted all files
reboot
now installing again i hope now it will ask a cd key when starting the game
thanks for your help BTA ;)

Just to confirm -- you have cleaned all the registry keys and before installing, checked to make sure that the test drive unlimited folder in you My Documents directory has been deleted before installing?

You may have to reinstall if the steps above have been followed :( , but before you do, uninstall the game, and search all your drives for files with atari or test drive unlimited.

Do you have more than one drive? If so, try searching all your drives.
