So, am I less of a gamer when I sell over half of my games?
What if it is for a very good reason?
Does the number of games owned make the gamer? Or is it the love of games?

I just sold my PS2 and all it's games, plus the PS1 games, and obviously all the DDR stuff.

Reason? I needed plane tickets very badly. It's so worth it to me.

So now I have a total of like 13 PC games and like 13 Saturn Games. (Not sure if I'll keep the saturn when I move though lol)

Am I less of a gamer? It just brought it to mind as some people think that to be a gamer you need a huge collection of games. I don't think so.

Opinions?

well DES I still consider you the same gamer that you were when you had all the games. I think being a gamer is having played the games enough to make an opinion on them. But most of all a gamer is a person who loves video games and you definately fall into that categorey.

Thanks Nianth ;)

Hehe, I remember Moth saying "I'll make you a PC gamer yet" wonder if the lack of money for my plan tickets was really an elaborate scheme of his to make it happen. ;) (Just kidding love)

So now I'm sitting here clearing my wishlist(that IGN site thing) of console games and filling it with PC :p This could take a while.

Whether it is console based games or pc based games does not solely make you a gamer. I believe that is the love of gaming and the interest in them that make you a true gamer.

With that being said DES, you are truly a gamer in your head and in your heart.
The reasoning behind selling your games is a great reason and I don't think anyone would fault you for it. With the possible exception of any non-gamers that just don't understand, and whom don't matter much anyway.

Good luck in ALL you do. I think you and Vat 7 are great together.;)

Owning the games is nice, but having played them is better. As long as you can remember them and, as Nianth said, form an opinion, you're still a top class gamer in my book... especially if you sold them for a good reason.

So you're saying you've had no financial problems so far and havn't had to sell any prized posessions in order to be with someone you love on valentines day. ;)

No i dont think your 'd be less of a gamer hun, proberly more so for doing it.....reason being that what does a game do for us? for me it makes me think, to feel in a different way that you cant feel in the r/w, the memory of my first game (moon patrol on 2600), the memories of that first encounter of operation wolf in the arcade (complete with husky smoke smell ingrained in the wood) i had a very large games collection then i met someone very special in my life and we had 2 great kids....my kids are great and i had to sell a load of my prized posessions to support us, but i kept what was special to me.
And now i play every game that i still own, that still makes me remember the first time i loaded it or pressed the on button, or had mates round for the night- i play indepth not just finishing the game but getting the highscore or the wepons or the secret charecters but most of all sharing them with some one....my game cube is actually my 3 yr old first console and sum might say that its too old for her but i cant beat her at mario kart double dash!

Well I sold it to the guy I'm living with earlier today. I needed $584 for my plane tickets and it was seriously looking like we had no way to get it. So I had to make a list of anything sellable I had :P (Games, camcorder, fender stratocaster guitar my grandma bought me when I was 12 No I don't know how to play, never had the chance to learn.) Thankfully my games collection was worth quite a bit more than that and my friend was interested. Was a big relief.

But since it's a friend I guess that's a good home. I know alot of people out here that take games for granted. :? I know he'll play and add to its collection.

Thanks for the input guys, this was somewhat a gauge of the types we have on here. Glad to see so far the majority are the type that have sense. ;)
