Which Console For You?

In a few short weeks we will witness the launch of the PS3 and the Wii. Arguebly this could be the most important launches for both Sony and Nintendo. Depending what happens in the next few weeks could make or break either company, there fates are in our hands. Which brings me to my question, what are you getting?

I myself am picking up a Wii at(or very near) launch, and the reasons are very simple:

-Nintendo first party games have always been my favorite. Between various Mario, Metroid, and Zelda I would have more then enough fun. Not too mention Wii exclusives like Red Steel and Madden 07that offer brand new gameplay on established genres.

-The price. I don't have the video game budget to drop 600 bux on a console, then drop at least another 60 bux for only one more game. Especially when basically all I am getting is better graphics, I don't care about blu-ray so I can't see any justification for the pricepoint. I will spend 350, a Wii, Zelda, and Red Steel, and still I will save 300 bux.

-Obviously the controller. The easiest way to incorporate nw gameplay ideas is to change the way we play games. Plus, I hated the PS1 controller, I hated the PS2 controller, and of course I hate the PS3 controller. And don't pretend that Sony didn't steal the motion sensing idea from Nintendo, they did just like they stole the analog control for the dual shock.

-And lastly, I don't know a single person who is buying the PS3, but I know at least 4 people getting the Wii. This means I know we will have many multiplayer sessions, and no one will be left out because they chose style over substance

I'm happy with my 360 for now, with all these new games and such coming out. However, The Wii does look pretty hawt to me. I'll probably get one next year, but I will never spend more than 400 for a dang video game console! That's crazy talk!

well 300 bucks is a lot for me but im still trying to get the 360 with harddrive.. which is more than a wii, but i only had a gamecube from nintendo and well its sucked mabye the only good game was sonic a2b
and metroid prime.

aaaaanyway i like halo a lot so id like to be able to play halo 3 next year and halo wars when it comes out... game graphics for halo wars dont get any better, looks like people in suits

:) PS3 is for me. I loved it. PS1 were classics. Better than the PS2.. I don't care about graphics. Hey, whats a video game with all this realistic stuff. It will take out the fun of the game. I like Gameboy too.. But I love the PS series. I love the Tekken series. I love Namco. Starting from Pacman. Namco made the best games. They made Tekken. Well. Tekken is my fav and I hope the characters don't look to real the they look like plastic.

I think the more important fixes from PS1 to PS2 were loading times... I didn't even really see that much of a change in graphics.

ps3 is the only thing that will play my final fantasy games. i think that is what is great about sony, everything is backwards compatible. before i got ps2 i traded in ps1 to help pay fo it. when i go to get a ps3 ill trade in my ps2 to help pay for it. it may not be a lot of money, but it does reduce the price of the system. plus ps3 will be making me a lot of money so ill want to get one.

microsoft has done an amazing job marketing. bring out the 360 early for christmas the year before and release all its best games now. forza 2 gears of war it goes on for the games being released for christmas now. most people will either buy a 360 and games for cheaper or just go buy games for the 360 that they own already. microsoft is smart

the 360 is for me. my crave for multiplayer online is just perfectly fed by the 360 online capabilities

I have a rule that I never buy a system until it is at least 10 years old. I'll probably break that rule this Christmas and get a Wii, mainly because I am a avid Nintendo fanboy. Out of the three companies (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft), I feel that Nintendo is the only one that really understands video games. Microsoft and Sony seem to think that more powerful, faster systems make better games, but I think that's bass ackwards. You shouldn't make a powerful system and then say "Hmm, we've got this great system... now what can we do with it?" You should make great games and then, if those games require better systems, make the better system. In other words, the games and the gameplay are the important things. If your games are unoriginal and boring, it doesn't matter if your system can do virtual reality. In my mind, Nintendo has stayed down to earth all these years and has realized that gameplay comes first... and that's reflected in their games. Even if I never buy a Wii game, I might buy a Wii just so that I can buy digital backup copies of all my favorite NES, SNES, and N64 games.

In short, I have this to say: Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Starfox, Metroid, (early) Final Fantasy, Donky Kong, Kirby, etc...

That's only if they make more than a handful of games available at launch. That's one thing the 360 messed up on. Maybe the graphics are better, but how much better can they possibly be? Honestly?

personaly im gonna go with the 360 mainly because it is fairly priced and it has realy great graphics and gameplay. The ps3 is gonna cost way too much, and i dont even see a point to the bluetooth in it. Ive heard good and bad about the wii, and ill probly end up buying one later in the year because it is cheap. Ive been a playstation boy for as long as i can remember lol... ps1 ps2 psp ive got em all.... but looks like this time around its gonna be microsoft for me... unless the ps3's price goes down..

blu-ray discs are awesome, i watched one today and it totally kills dvds. basically if u have an hd flatscreen then ps3 is what u want. also for playing online the ps3 kills xbox360. i do agree with what king said about the games tho. but final fantasy is a playstation thing now and the games are awesome. not to mention nintendo's wrestling games are horrible now. (last good one being No Mercy)

yeah, i would say PS3, but the reason why not many people are getting it is because they cant afford it, Im gunna save up about £200 and get my mum to pay the rest :D, may take a while though :S

me and my room mates do things the easy way and are going to split the cost of a ps3 i already own a 360 but I am pumped about the Wii I think this might be the first time that all 3 competing companies have something worth buying

i think u missed my one post. im saying that if u do have that then a ps3 is what u want. im not buying one to keep right now, im reselling the 3 im buying because while i like the ps3 i dont even have enough money to afford a Wii right now and keep it

I have a 360. I originaly wanted a ps3 but figured I couldnt get one untill after march since I couldnt reserve one. Eventualy Id like to get all three.

I think the 360 is a safe bet. It will be a while before developers can fully utilise the PS3's power (and the 360's mind..).

The Wii looks like fun, certainly for multiplayer, but I'd get tired of having to swing the controller each time you wanna slash someone with the sword in Zelda.

I'd buy it for metroid prime though.....

360 is tempting because I've been considering building a Media Centre Edition PC and it would be sweet to have them interact. Only thing is it would cost me loads alltogether and I'm saving for a snowboarding holiday.

GTA IV will be released for 360 and PS3 on the same day. Sony lose the exclusive rights to it.

I have a 360 and love it, just wish I had more time for it.

PS3 - I will be buying, without a doubt.

Wii - pre-ordered one, dont know if I was early enough to get a Dec 8th one or if I will have to wait for new stock.
