Bug or "feature"

I noticed whenever I died, When doing a side quest, the x marking the spot of the side quest would disappear.

I have seen that -- It appears that the getting your tomb is now the active quest. Have you tired to go into the quest menu and select the side quest? The x marking for the side quest should be visible after doing that.
