Please can anybody help. I have 2 problems with I war, firstly in the de-brief screen I press the right shift q this does not work but the left shift q puts me stright back to windows, the only way to get to the next stage of the game is to close the program and then re-load it. The second problem is half way through the morgan mission the game just crashes and takes me straight back to windows again, but the program has closed. I have played this game many times on my old pc so I do know there cannot be a problem with the game discs.
I have tried some of the suggestions on this forum like downloading glide wrapper, also I have made the game compatable with windows 95 with the computer wizard but still no luck. Does anybody have any other suggestions to this problem?

The shift+q crash is a well known problem with the directsound version used by the game. The game makes a call to a function that's no longer supported by current versions of directx, and so the game crashes. It manages to save your progress first though, so at least it still makes the game playable. It is recommended, however to play the game in a window. In many cases, this prevents you from having to reboot because the game fails to reset the graphics system.
In addition, all this information and more can be found in the faq link at the top of the forum. And yes, it's the one supposedly about IWAR2, go figure.

i have tried your suggestions but the game still has the same problem of crashing half way through a mission and transfering back to windows when pressing ctrl-q. i have the direct x9 would it be any better do you think on an earlier version like direct x5 ? thanks for your time in helping me out tonviper.

It probably would be better on an earlier directx version, but the only way to accomplish that is to play the game on windows 98 without any updates. That's because there's no way to downgrade directX, and XP comes with directX 9.
