So, I downloaded the silverfall demo and installed it, I rebooted then ran it. It took about 5 minutes to finally come up and went through all the credit things at the beginning then got to the page with the loading thing and came up with this error

D3DXCreateCompilerFromFile Error

D3DXCreateEffectCompilerFromFile has failed.

File : <Data/Shader/RPGTile.fx>
Error :
RPGShadow.fx(234): error no graphics card ihv specified

Press OK to Retry.

Computer Specs:
Hewlett-Packard Pavilion
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 processor
3300+
1.81GHz, 896MB Ram

Umm..Graphics card is SiS 760

the options says graphics card SiS 760 to. So how do i fix this error?

Silverfall requires a dx9c compliant gpu -- the Mirage 2 integrated graphics (SiS 760) is dx8.1 hardware compliant with dx9 software emulation. Check to make sure that you have the latest drivers and dx9 emulation software. It may be that your integrated graphics chip is not fully supported.

I get the same error with ATI Radeon 9250 128MB. It supports dx9c, as far as I know, and I just installed the latest Catalyst drivers. Required pixel shaders are v1.4, right?

Windows XP, SP2
Celeron 2.4GHz
512MB DDR400

The 9250 is dx9c compatible, but does not have the shader feature required by this game. Nick Moore, what are your system specs?

Sorry to say this nick, but your system is not nearly powerful enough to run Silverfall. I could barely run it with a 7800 250 mb graphics card and 1 gb RAM. Once I had upgraded to 2 gb RAM I could run the game without any major problems, but I would strongly recomend you upgrade your computer.

The graphics are, in my oppinion, not much better than Guild Wars. However, they're rendered in a different, and much more demanding, way. Guild Wars is very scale-able when it comes to graphics - Silverfall is not...

ok well thx for ur help, imo they need to be making more games like GW(awsome graphics great gameplay and you don't need a super computer to run it)
