Ok... I'm not about to go and start explaining what's Death Note, because you have to see it for yourself.

spoiler ahead kinda.
Well basically its about a death god who drops his death note(book that if you right someone name in they die from heart attack etc)
in the human world,a boy name light finds the note,becomes crazy with the power he has.Demon god becomes friends with the light and light changes his name to kira and try's to change the world because of how messed up it is.He kills people and makes his name known and a guy named L (detective) try's to find kira and stop him from what he is doing.It mostly works its way from their

also, how good is it? i mean id like to look at it but i dunno if its as good as peeps make it out to be .... so can some1 drop a lil info about it like in terms of how does it hold up to naruto, eyeshield 21, hajime no ippo, etc.

Well it's unanimously better than Naruto, and probably better than any sports manga you can think of.

Well, you could take a look at the thread I started on it, the opening post gives a pretty good synopsis of what it's about.

I don't really know about how it compares to those, the only one I've even seen is Naruto which Death Note certainly isn't anything like; Naruto's a fairly typical Shounen coming of age story (With ninjas!) while Death Note's sort of a detective, move/countermove drama being continuously played out between the two main characters.

I've also only read the manga, haven't seen the animated version; though from what I've heard of it Light's all but laughing maniacally to himself a few episodes in which would be rather badly out of character for his manga self.
