Ok, since my cleaning out of my computer, I was wondering if someone could post a list of what they think are the "essential" custom scenery sets that are difficult to live without.
I mean, there are lots (and I mean lots) of custom scenery sets out there, but let's face it, there are some we can live without.
So, I need help to determine which ones I should download to make the prettiest parks.
Can anyone help?

JCat's Steelworx and Spaceworx and DarkRide Set (All of JCat's sets)
rctmaniac

All of rctmaniac's sets, his stuff is great
lol. Pyrofreak listed the best ones. It depends, what type of look do you want in your parks? My shelterz gives quite bright coloured walls. Also, if you are not making an Alphine/Medieval Village, there is no need for Shyguys Alphine Sets. However, having said that, I made a station that used Shelterz, Mouseworks, Steelworx, HGR71, Alphine Set 3, Main Street 1 :p. Vodhin's Vermont stuff is good, especially the lights, and his cafe kit rocks.

Really depends on the theme and style of the park you plan to make and the look you want. Personaly I don't think there is a "one set fits all" list of custom scenery, an I think I'd be quickly bored to tears if that's all I ever saw being used by people in their parks...who wants that cookie-cutter look?
Why not organize your CS sets in a folder outside of the game by the theme the set is, then you could easily move a folder full of modern/space themed stuff into you Style/Themed folder if that's the type of park you are planning to do? That would give you a lot more variety without limiting your choices and you can easily change.

In my opinion, the only "essential" scenery set is JCat's Steelworx.

I ditto what wabigbear said.
If you are building an alpine resort you will need all the alpine sets and timber frame buildings set, but you wont need jcats spaceworxs.
BUT
if you are building a futuristic moon base park you will need jcats spaceworx, but you wont need all the alpine sets and timber frame buildings set.

Well that's the thing, I don't build buildings based on the name.
I rarely ever use (for example) an alpine set for an alpine village. I may use it for a technologically themed area. It all depends on how creative you can be with it.
So I guess what I'm asking for is sets that are very different from each other.

But I have to disagree with you there. If you're a REALLY good park designer, then you can find a way to make "a few sets fit all."

True but the same great park designer will make a better park with more sets.
I also agree with NF - steelworx is definately no.1.

That may have been true with RCT2, but RCT3 allows you to find and use the object that most closely fills a need without worrying that you might go over the limit in the number of objects you can use. Why on earth limit yourself if there's no reason to?
A REALLY good park designer uses what is available, and comes up with new ways to combine and use items. Someone using only a few specific CS is not guaranteed to make a better park than someone else using many.
