Ok... I got it all downloaded... installed the game... started it it asked for my key I put it in then.. i launched... yay.... got to the screen and asked for my gamespy id... put it it... got the message I have chosen an online game... started to load ... then I get a weird message...
First message was invalid Key... I reenter the key.. launches again...then I get
There is a newer version than what I have... I will need to update to play online... there is an update that was released within 2 hours of the download?
I suspect it has something to do with having had the Beta installed on the machine... I did uninstall it
What am I missing?
See ya'll on the island!

Atari,
I'm not real happy right now. First of all It seems I cant run the game without an update.
Secondly, buying this game as a direct download from atari cost me $10.00 more than I could have bought a hard copy from gogamer.
That is just scalping the customer. Get less, pay more. Great concept. Just think atari, you made $10.00 extra bucks and didn't even need a box, dvd, or hard copies of the map and manual.
RIPOFF!

Yeah man i feel your pain, bought the game today and i can't connect to the server it sucks, it kinda spoiled my high.
I doubt it has anything to do with beta Rev. As you know, I am having the same problems as you, and I am on a clean install of TinyXP, just like I was when I installed the beta and it ran WITHOUT any problems.:bulb:

Was not on the beta here and having the same issues. What's the scoop Atari? Is there really a patch that we need already and if so let's open it up or are we being directed to the incorrect update server?

FWIW you can play the game with an offline profile, but im having trouble getting past the first race screen.... i buy my house, buy my car and drive to that spot, the game takes me into the race screen, but when i click "start" to start the race, it just kind of sits there... the game does not lock up i can still see traffic moving and i can hit escape and get to the menu options and such but the race will not start.

I was on the Beta, but not on this machine, and I too am getting "an update is needed to play" message. [RANT ON] Of course, when I click ok, it takes charge of my browser, resizes it, and takes me to the completely useless TDU main site.. [RANT OFF]

Same issue with the non-existent patch. Also, the stuttering in offline mode is 10x worse than even the closed beta was.

It's sad to see all these issues. Just to give you some hope, here is what I posted in the digital download thread:

Now back to some racing. Hope to see you soon online...
