i was just checking my bank balance online and $43.90 was automatically deducted from my checking account the night i bought TDU.....well i havent spent any other money since that night, so i know what my balance was before and after the $43.90 deduction.... now my balance is back up to what it was before i bought TDU and the transaction has completely dissappeared from my online banking.....

is it possible that Atari is doing a refund for the download for those of us who paid by debit/credit card and are just letting us keep the key and that they are going to patch the game and we will have TDU for free? (assuming they actually fix it and we dont have to go buy or dvd version just to have the data)

Just let them work on the problem. Time will tell what they will do regarding the issues with the DD version.

In response to our failed launch of the digital download of Test Drive Unlimited for the Windows platform, I would like to apologize for the service failure. It is unacceptable. We are working on the solution and Test Drive Unlimited will be available shortly via digital download. In the meantime, customers affected by this postponement will receive the boxed product of Test Drive Unlimited in the mail within one week, a 75% off certificate validtowards your next purchase on Atari.com and a $3.95 refund for product insurance, if purchased. We will do better.

I think you guys (Atari) are being pretty fair with how the problem is being handled.

Sorry to hear that your digital download service didnt launch as intended. I was pretty excited to hear it had gone live - but it had already been taken offline by the time I had a chance to purchase. Hopefully you can get it up and running soon...still anxiously awaiting my Enzo at 180+ MPH down the interstate with Beethoven screaming over the speakers (lol).

update on this: they did actually take the money out of my account today..

they must have delayed taking it out since my bank has a 3 day hold thing, which expired, so thats why the money appeared to come back.

So we cannot download TDU as of now? Or do I pay for the Pre-Order and receive a download link?

The pre-order is for the boxed retail version. The link for the download will be active once the download version has been tested and approved.

I wasn't affected by the problems (as I just went to a shop and bought it with good ol' fashioned beer tokens), but that's a show of class.

Nicely done, Atari.
