I found a video that was put together very well that is based on the old attraction at WDW Tommorow Land, Alien Encounter. Click here to see the video on Google Video. (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2961121530350290312&q=alien+encounter&hl=en) I noticed a difference between the first version and the second version, and I am sure you will too, if you have been on it. The first version sounds like a sci-fi horror film, and the second is just a little milder. And, as you can hear the original version, the killing of somebody is much more graphic, and in the second version, they just give you the idea somebody was killed. Also, as somebody comments on the video, they said that in the original version, not just did they restrain you with shoulder restraints, they also restrained you using a lap bar. I have never been on the first version, because I would have been too young, and I probably would not enjoy it at an older age like 8 anyway if it was out when I was that age. Oh, and about the video, it is 36 minutes, so make sure you have enough time to watch it. Anybody here been on the original version?

Is the video AFTER the soundtrack? I am there "listening" and just curious.

I saw the original A.E. And the second, neither was much better than the expdition? moon thing or exp? mars thing it replaced.

I know, for some reason, the guy just has the audio on for the original version.

There is video of the second version at the second half of the film, but no video, just audio of the first version of A.E.

Personally, i think AE was better then that crappy Stitch's Great Escape they have now. Its cheesy and very stupid, and not that fun...

I know, all they do in Stitch is spray a chili-dog scent, which is done like 3 times in the ride each show.

It seems like all Disney is doing nowadays is re-doing old classics into newer movie-inspired rides.
Alien Encounter is to Stich's Great Escape as...
The Living Seas is to Nemo
Pirates of the Caribbean is to the movie-fied version
Countdown to Extinction is to Dinosaur

...and there's probably a couple more that I can't think of at the moment. In my opinion, I'd rather have the old rides back.

Expedition Everest hasn't been moviefied, and it's a new ride. So is Soarin'. And Disney, while having a history of movie tieins, doesn't do it everytime.

Let's face it, Disney has good reason to tie in rides to movies... instant, licensed theming. Not to mention that Disney is global, and not everyone in the world is familiar with the older rides, but they are familiar with the Disney movies.

As an interesting note...

HK Magic Kingdom is getting Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and Indy... however, they're getting very highly modified versions of both Pirates and HM. The reason is that the Chinese are very unfamiliar with the classic rides, but are very familiar with the Pirate movies.

So, Disney's answer around this problem is to base the Chinese versions of these rides on the Pirate movies... so they'll be very different from what is in the other parks that Disney has.

(Yes, even Haunted Mansion is being modified to tie into Pirates for HK. Note this is just for the Hong Kong versions, not worldwide.)
