Which park do you guys think is the best place to go:
Cedar Point (Top Thrill Dragerster :D)
Six Flags Great Adventure (Kingda ka :D)

For a family that has age 9+ members?

Thanks.

I'd say to definately go to Cedar Point, but that could be just because I have more respect for the Cedar Fair company than Six Flags. Six Flags are generally known for their cruddy-ness, while Cedar Fair is known for top-quality roller coasters.

But it's your decision in the end.

Ah I see. Thank you.

Alton Towers, cause it's pure brilliance and its theme tune > any other.

Although I don't particularly like Six Flags, it's hard not to go when the Tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world is only 40 minutes away.

^Well the way I think of it, TTD is still better than Kingda Ka. They totally copied off of CP for the coaster. Ooo add a bunny hill what a big difference.
I hope CP crushes them another year and make a even better and higher coaster in the world.
Also, I'd have to go with CP.

Hey hey hey, be nice. I could care less if the bunny hill is there. The fact that the Tallest, Fastest coaster is in New Jersey makes it better. (Such a bass akwards state)

Cedar Point Fan Boy (Girl)

It is still taller, so take that!

They are copy cats that wouldn't have even made Kingda Ka IF it wasn't for CEDAR POINT.
Give all your fame and glory to CP.

Does it look like I care?

Thorpe Park has really improved of recent years. You should try it.

It saddens me how people still think that TTD and KK are amazing rides. They're like an ugly woman with a hideous personality, who happens to be amazing at sex; they're only there for one purpose, and that is the world record. I prefer rides that offer 2-3 minutes of airtime, inversions, and screams.

Haha, good point. I never said it was an amazing ride, though it is something to break the monotone of regular coasters.

I think if we were to name the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world that is longer than 30 seconds would be Millenium Force! :D

And that is the principal reason that I want to go to Cedar Point. And, you know, Magnum XL-200, Raptor, Mantis, Maverick, Mean Streak, and Wicked Twister...

LightGrenades

Same.... Plus, with Maverick.

~LoveTulie
03-12-2007, 12:01 AM
Well yes. To bad the only new, unique thing about Maverick is the new element to a coaster, a horseshoe role... which I am looking forward too.

ZOMG the Horseshoe roll. The single greatest invention of Human kind

But aren't there other good things about the coaster too?

~LoveTulie
03-12-2007, 12:05 AM
Like... a straight down hill, almost completly sideways turns, canyons you go through, and a twist where you almost hit your head on the land and die? :haha:

LightGrenades
03-12-2007, 12:06 AM
Oooh oooh oooh fun! You must have a really big head to hit your heard in the twist 10 feet off the ground.

IMO Great Adventure has the best wooden coaster anywhere, but I have to go with Cedar Point on this one. After all, they have more Intamin coasters.;)

...oh and for the record, TTD is better than Kingda Ka. Kingda Ka's launch just doesn't feel right to me.

It's been a few years since I've been to Great Adventure, but, when I was there on a beautiful early July day, 9 rides were closed for the day, including 3 roller coasters. Also, at the time, the park was the single most expensive park I'd ever visited. I had a Six Flags season pass at the time, so I didn't have to pay the outrageous gate price, but I still had to pay the overinflated parking and food prices.

That's not to say that Cedar Point is cheap. When I worked at the park in the late 1980's, we used to say, "They don't call it Cedar Profit for nothing!" However, compared to Great Expenditure, I'm sorry, Great Adventure, I believe Cedar Point is quite a bit more affordable. On top of that, I've never seen a July day with perfect weather where Cedar Point had 9 rides closed for the entire day. Rides can break down, so a ride might be down for the entire day, but it's less common at Cedar Fair parks than at Six Flags parks.

(Six Flags has been known to close rides in order to save money, rather than just due to malfunctions.)

So, if I could choose only one, my choice would easily be Cedar Point.

Alton Towers. I would try Thorpe Park, but it's too far away (about 200 miles).

Thorpe is only fifty miles from Frog's house. It's not as spread out as Alton (not so much walking!), but has a decent selection of rides. It's also cheaper.

Quite where Alton gets off charging £6 for parking and £30 entry, I don't know.

I'm contemplating getting a season pass this year.

Hmm...

Don't they do a season pass where you can visit all of the Tussauds Group parks?

nickdaegg
03-12-2007, 04:46 PM
Yeah, and AFAIK it's only £15 more than the AT only one which is being reinstated this season.

I'd go to Cedar Point they're nicer, cleaner, and in my opinion have better rides.
