I've been doing this race, but I hit over 170mph no problem but when the timer countsdown, it registers less than that in the 160's. Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong?

I have the same thing. In this mode when you have on your speedometer for example 150km/h on the bar it shows usualy 20 / 30km/h less. I didn't see this glitch when i was using mph tho.

a friend told me a cheat for this mission that makes it really easy....lets just say you dont have to drive on the wrong side of the divided highway to pass this mission :)

this is my money maker mission... any time i need quick cash, i grab my enzo (i bought the enzo from funds from this) and run this mission... $15k in about 30 seconds over and over again :)

I've already worked that trick out lol, its just that when I do it, I hit over 170mph but the game only registers a speed in the 160's and not the 170mph I did so I get about $3000 instead of the $15000 I want!

blk: Or just turn around :D. Same thing here, need money? I run this mission :). Also there is one more mission similar to this for $40k, just don't remember right now.

Ok time to drive a lil' bit. ;)

Do you have to keep the speed at above 170mph untill the counter counts down or once you hit 170mph is that it?

Eh, I experience something close but not nearly to the extent you guys get. It usually registers me as going 3 or 4 MPH lower than I really am, which I have always chalked up to being purposeful. Your speed is calculated BEFORE you pass the camera (notice it's at an angle) so that's how it is in real life. Of course, 20-30 km/h...? While I'm not sure what that is in mph I think it may be a bit more than a few miles....

Wait a second, do you mean you pass all the cameras fine and then keep driving until the timer runs out and it registers less? Because whenever you pass the last speed camera and your speed is above the minimum you hit (whatever button you have set to 'Enter') to end the race. I've never let the timer run out so maybe you get a penalty...?

Its not the radar trap races, its a race where you have to hit at least 170mph in heavy traffic. It becomes available once you reach pro level.

Reading your first post confused me as I was thinking "camera... what bloody camera" lol then seen your second post and realised you were on about the radar races.

Still the same thing, once I hit the 170mph mark I hit enter to collect the money.... :p

That must be where I'm going wrong, didn't know you had to press enter. Once I've reached 170mph I've just stopped and let the counter count down lol. Will try that next time I go on.

If you got a dcent car this mission is really easy, I can use a stock corvette z06 and win this race in like 5 seconds and I just do it over and over for quick cash...drive on the right side of the road and just go, and ya, the speedometer and the real speed checker is like 10mph difference, no big deal, it's easy to get the 170.

Now I've become a champion and there is a place where you get $75k easily. :D

Here is how it looks in my game:

But now it is worse, over 20km/h difference.

i think you have to sustain 170 for a certain time, and it shows your top speed that you get to, thats why you see it over 170 for a while

I believe it actually says your AVERAGE speed has to be XXX mph or km/h, not your current speed.

*Edit* Never mind, I just checked and it says try to reach the highest maximum.

All you need to do is reach the 170mph then the FINISH RACE pops up and all you have to do is hit enter...

Wow, i'm glad thsi guy is here to assist.

That feature was added to stop people from using a glitch where they could get their car to go 400+mph. Thats why it lags. You have to hold a faster speed for a short ammount of time.

Where about is this race on the map?

And is the a class restriction on this race?

As Mowgli said, it was done intentionally to keep people from exploiting some kind of glitch, but I don't know the specifics.

i think it went if anyone lagged at all and stuttered in the races on xbox then the race would register insane speeds, somehow people in the xbox game were glitching the races to set crazy top speeds, so atari put in the lag on the speed meters that supposedly fixed the glitching, lest it went something like that.

hence why your speed meter lags behind your actual speed so you need to sustain or surpass your target to get the reward. in closed beta the gap was crazy big i remember having to hit 200mph+ to pass the 180 in downtown race, tho the gap might be exaggerated if your framerate drops to 15 to 20 fps either way i bug reported it.
