View Full Version : The following cs may be causing the game to shutdown during play ...

I have made a grand install of all the cs on the list compiled in the forum. It is great because so many prefabs and parks that were created with them load without the hassle of having to find the correct cs for them.

I wish this thread could be sticky'd so that all can continuously see it, I don't know if I can do that, I think a moderator has to do that. I know some will say, just reply to the original thread of the cs with the error but some of those threads haven't been viewed by it's designer in months and I wanted the errors to show up in a very noticeable spot before the cs becomes so old, it just may not even be used by the designer themselves anymore.

I will continue to update this post with the latest results with different scenery

To These Designers: I love your scenery and I am so appreciative of it, could you test these, see if your getting the same errors and possibly put an update or rerelease up, thanks so much.

I believe that I have installed the following scenery correctly and this has been the outcome for me..
...
Last Updated: 3/15/07:
Scenery Tested/Installed: All scenery that was on this (http://www.rct-theme-world.de/rct-liste/complete-list.htm) compiled list as of 3/2/07:
First, if you see a combination of stars before any of the scenery, ie (*,**,***), please scroll down for it as new information may have been found on these installs, thanks.

The following scenery had to be removed cause a "no svc; in sid:" error was popping up and shutting down the game when the scenery was used.

* Disfan1's Tables & Blinds.. happens after the tables folder is opened, the adventure tables show up at the top and the game just freezes. I don't know what version the cs is but removing the folder fixes the problem.

* Disfan1's Haunted Mansion:
I just remember opening this folder and the game crashed with the error. This was one of the first I checked but im pretty sure it caused the error, I will recheck it again.

* PhiWies?? ok, I haven't figured out for sure, exactly what folder the error is culminating from, this cs comes up without icon images (as many others do but work fine) if not anywhere else, when creating an entrance in the scenario editor, upon clicking the icon the error occurs and the game crashes, also if the menu is opened (I think its the one with the dice on it, I use this terminology cause i'm so tired of reloading the game already, I don't want to load the entire game just to get the menu's name), just scrolling past the blank icon, i don't even think I clicked on it, it said Phiwie's something (cause the icon's blank) and the game freezes with the error again. I removed both fence packages from the game and it works fine now.

WSL_Spanish Roofing:
The first piece of cs I used in this folder caused the game to shutdown, I don't know that all of them will but I would imagine its likely, I will test it further.

The following cs causes the game to generate an error but gives the option to proceed (usually the game just stops but after, like, hitting the windows key, bringing up the desktop, then clicking on the game again shows the option saying either ok to continue or cancel, clicking ok will continue but I haven't even tried to use the cs involved.

So far only one pack of cs returns this conditional error...

* Max DC Walls:
An error comes up when the game is loaded initially (before the menu choices come up) and at about 60%. I would hit the window key to revert to the desktop then click on RCT3's to reopen it. Upon attempting to reopen it, I get some kind of vector error and an option to continue or not. I have not removed this cs from the game yet, I have been meaning to try it out and see if I can find more about it, what still works, what crashes but there is a problem with it.

New information about the errors found, updated here...
* just found that all the scenery above, except for the spanish roofing was tested ok using the original separate disks (rct3, soaked & wild) with no updates, please see post #17 for full details. It could be due to a bad download link which is why i am hoping these cs creators will see this post and give an updated link but I have tried it with gold/wild+all patches and with platinum+(told no patches needed), and they all don't work, in fact I have to remove them to prevent the game from crashing.

I have only started to work with all this scenery but so far (knock on wood) I have not yet run into any problems. What I would like to do is to continuously update this post with whatever pertainent results are found in hopes that I will eventually be able to update this post as "all cs running flawlessly".

Also, If anyone else has found errors please post your findings here, i'll probably test the same scenery too and i'll update this post but, unless the cs creator themselves indicates the install is no good, I will use terms like "may be causing" or "possibly causing".

I currently have RCT3 platinum (a compilation of RCT3, RCT3 soaked & RCT3 Wild for those who don't know what it is). I have tried this with different versions of RCT3 and have gotten the same errors, I had the original sparate packs at first, then had Gold with Wild, finally now Platinum (one full compilation with all patches included).

I have most of these sets working fine; the others not downloaded. MaxInfinity may or may not have released a new version of his DC set that fixes that problem. Just hit continue in the error message and everything will work ok.

All of the other sets are the result of bad installation of CS. Look here (http://rct3.sourceforge.net/tutorials/install_cs.html) to get a guide that describes all of these errors (most are the no :siv for :sid error, a common installation error) and will help you install Disfan's Tables Set, I think.

Also, be sure to read the readmes. Disfan's Tables set includes how to install it in the readme.

I have to say, this has been the nicest "no :siv for :sid" error complaint I've seen in a while! ;)

MaxDC's sets do that with everyone. Just click OK and it all works.

Expect Weasels' Spanish Roof, which was know for the error (and unfortunatly not fixed yet), I had no problems with the other sets. Lots of the unzipped set-folders have another folder with the objects inside. Make sure, that you move just this folders into your themed-folder.

Max has relesed a fixed version of his set without that error. I will add the download later, because I have currently no access to the files on my server here.

Oh, weasel's set is broken? :(

Sorry for the wrong info on that.

thanks for these replies.. at least I know these problems are either known or most likely improper installs on my part.. ill try reinstalling disfan1's sets, maybe I had either a bad download, download source or made some kind of strange mistake.

btw.. I noticed Phiwie's set is not mentioned.. does anyone else get the same bug, can anyone else use this set faithfully with no problem?

My spanish roofing set was recalled because of this problem, I'm not sure what was wrong with it, it worked fine on my computer, but others couldn't use it. I took the download links down the day after I uploaded it, so I'm not sure how you got it... If anybody is hosting my roofing set at their site, please remove it!

smjm1982, I was wondering if you would please think about editing the title on this thread? Right now is saying that CS is causing these errors, when in fact with only a couple exceptions the CS works fine, it just may be tricky to properly install. Otherwise it looks like there's something wrong with all the set's you've listed and that's not true.

Thanks!

I would love to know if you are still trying to figure it out of have just abandoned it.. I mean, all this scenery is great, thats why I started this thread. With respect to all the efforts made, I just wanted to create a thread that will ultimately result in leading to flawless cs from all. I do hope you will still continue to try to correct the error(s), should you find them, thanks.

I truly apologize for the bad choice of wording here, all these wonderful efforts from so many creators have given us wonderful scenery. Please do comment back if you still see issue with the following adjustment but while I do agree that some errors could be a result of improper install, some are errant and I just want to make sure the creator knows of it so I decided to reword the title from "is causing" to "may be causing".

Also, I will update the first post on this page as I find, say, that my install was wrong & what I did to fix it or that there is a correction & an update. My ideal is to bring the first post to "absolutely nothing wrong with any cs, everything running perfect".

Finally, this thread is meant, in good faith, to try to uncover any possible install issues to result in all cs working perfect. If anyone feels that anything I wrote in this thread is hurtful, wrong or offensive please tell me. I just wanted to create 1 easy to find thread where all cs creators could view or ask any questions on how their scenery seems to be working.

Thanks for changing the title smjm1982, it's much clearer now and reflects what I knew you were trying to accomplish.

I have thrown my roofing set away, along with the rext of my hard drive. :( But I haven't forgotten about it, not one bit. I plan to bring it back, but I don't know when that will be.

cool, would be nice to have some spanish style structures to work with

Updated this reply, 3/16/07:
In general, I notice there are some newly released scenery out there. On that, I have only sporatically been able to test it but will update any behavioral results in the 1st post of this thread.

Sorry I didn't reply to you sooner, its been a little confusing trying to get this thread going just right...

After unzipping, unless I have read some alternative install. I break it down until I get to what I consider the working folder level (where, say for example, the cs install was called Railroad Crossing Set 1 and I am now at the subfolder level which includes folder names like Tracks, Crossset, Gates, etc.), and maybe some .ovl files. At that point, I go 1 level up and drag the folder into the ../style/themed folder.

Max has relesed a fixed version of his set without that error. I will add the download later, because I have currently no access to the files on my server here.

Thanks so much for that new d/l link being established.. ill check it out and remove it from the list above, great to know its fixed.

I was just arbitrarily checking around, couldn't find any updated links.. could you put a link up for us here so we can get the corrected version when you get a chance, thanks.

Max dc works fine on mine and so do all the rest (except the spanish roofing)

I've been having a problem with the 'western addon' set
which included some extra tall porch poles. I got the
no svd for sid error with it.

I suspect that it's my fault but I would be grateful if anybody
else has had any problems with this one

Well I am told Max DC Set works ok, am just getting the error at 60% of the initial load giving me a chance to continue. I was told from RCT3 spankey's post that there is a corrected version out there but he said he didn't get a chance to upload it yet. I have not been able to find it. MaxInfinity, if you get a chance, could you give us a link to the corrected set. Also, what combination of RCT3 installs (ie: RCT3, Soaked, Wild, Gold, etc.) are you using, are they all patched?

Have you tried the other sets from Disfan1 & PhiWie I had mentioned above in the 1st post, are they working for you cause they crash on me every time. I must have installed about 50 cs packs already so im very familiar with the correct install approach.

Disfan1 & PhiWie, could you try your sets, I am wondering if the downloads curr out there are not corrupted.

Getting the same result here, I don't think its your fault, I think it might be a corrupted download. What combination of RCT3 installs (ie: RCT3, Soaked, Wild, Gold, etc.) are you using, are they all patched? Are you getting the errors as in the 1st post. I'm hoping the creators of this scenery will see this thread and possibly put up links to corrected scenery.

Yes, I am using RCT3, Soaked and Wild but with no patches.
This is the only set that I am getting the 'no svd for sid' error in and
last time I checked- I have over 225 custom scenery sets!

ok jonnyears, then I am going to update the 1st post to show that all but the spanish roofing was tested ok using the original separate disks (rct3, soaked & wild) with no updates & to see your post #17 for details.

I had tested them with RCT3 Gold-Wild initially and had all patches in place, and again now with RCT3 Platinum (currently told no patches needed, all included) and in both cases, all fail as in the 1st post. What I have could also be bad download, thats why i'm hoping the related cs creators will see this forum and put up newer links. I have only tested some of this scenery but these I know dont work.

Jonnyears, if you find that you do in fact get errors when using different patches, versions, etc. please reply here so I can update the 1st post accordingly, thanks.
