Ican buy it right now but I can't. Atari stole my money and they haven't shipped the game yet. They never will. I just know it! Sll they think about is the money....once you give it, that's it. You're nothing to them!!! What should I do?? I'm so pissed you won't imagine!

i never found a "standard Transmission" setting (MT) anywhere.

@madskillz-- the only name i saw was bigblazer87 so far. all the others are standard AI name fare.

The game is pretty decent though the damn engine SFX could be a LOT better. Either way the IDEA of the game is really good. The openness and freedom is a good feeling....

Review as of 4 hours of playing...

Graphics..

PROS:The car graphics are well done..some shader issues as well as clipping probs but thats to be expected with a low budget title. interiors are very well done even though they are low rez they still look great. (for a PS2 title).

CONS: The environment mapping is kinda dated even for a PS2 title, there seems to be a "mysterious light" around the car that illuminates the surrounding of the vehicle (at least in the incar view) ad this stays even with the lights off. The building textures look rather GTAish and the road surfaces are..well for the lack of a better word...interesting (not in a good way)

Gameplay: Over all SO far it is VERY fun and seems like it has some serious longevity to it. 4 hours of racing a lot and only 4% (though i hit ameture status rather fast 100,000 master points.) my biggest gripe...LACK of tuning options. only preformance parts..(that i have seen so far) and the paint changing is pointless...you only get factory colors at the paint shops (hopefully there is a shop that unlocks later to make custom colors).

The AI is what you would expect and least expect. I was actually shocked when an AI driver HIT HIS BRAKES to avoid ramming me!!! (unheard of!!!), though the AI is still plagued with the "DUH,,,which way do i go" moments at times as well as they are brake checking smaktards!!

Either way it si so far a great game for the low price ($39 bucks) ( i traded my motor storm for it that game was a waste of 60 bucks) either way its fun and it is a "gentlemans street racing game" that means the lack of an over aboundance of tuner cars like 86 corolla's taking on vipers lol Also the routes in the races so far are pretty well thought out for their respective classes. So i can assume that future races and unlocks will be worth the time.

My personal biggest gripes...

1. Motor sfx are very ps1ish (aka NFS3)
2. Environment looks like GTA3 with better sun lighting.
3. Money conmes WAY to easily...you start with over 100k and after buyin gthe cheapest car you still have over 25k left. (kinda ruins the early struggling)

other than that it is a well rounded game and the M.O.O.R. idea is a GREAT idea and i salute the development team for implementing this style of online to the RACING world FINALLY!!.

There's a race around the volcano crater that allows you to custom paint your car ... but it's suspect because it was disabled in the beta ...

Confirmed (and I think a lot of folks will be relieved): NO MANUAL TRANSMISSION. Sorry, bro ... no manual ****** ... there's a manual with the game, but no manual transmission.

nah bigblazer was so far one of the easiest AI racers to beat in a club. A really clean driver i must say, like i stated in my review thing that was the car that braked insted of slamming me. I love teh GT500 and the Mustang GT. The sky was the car i started with and it rocked!

The big surprise is ... 30 PS2 beta testers were selected to be NPCs - nonplayable characters in the game. We are scattered at clubs in the PS2 version. I was asking for confirmation on my character after the game came out. According to players on the euro boards, I am president of a club - and I drive a Skyline. We couldn't say it until the game was out ... but when you get an invite from a club, you have to race like 5-6 members of the club to advance. It's either class specific - or a type of club - like Nissan - and you have to have that kind of car to race in.

We were told we would be in clubs, but the devs worked and we didn't get any info until now ... we didn't know what our names are - what kind of cars we are driving, what clubs we are in ... so all 30 of us are in suspense!!!!
