It was like 30 degrees, so everything was closed, except 10 rides! Good thing we only went to get the MAXX passes. They kept the scrambler, go-karts (they made them free for the day), bumper cars, and a few others open. And yes, they got the new logo too. I thought the RIDE ON thing was only CP, but they had a bunch of LOG OFF, RIDE ON! stuff put up. I think they stopped selling the 1-day tickets after we left. :P

Worlds of Fun is awesome. I get to go there quite often since we only live an hour away. I don't think it'd be that much fun in the cold weather though. Glad you had fun!!!

I go to school at Kansas State University and originally planned to go opening day as it is only a 2 hour drive. When original estimates were for the 40s I quickly changed my mind

The next Saturday it is warm though Ill be there for sure

I was gonna go for opening day since I wasn't scheduled to work yesterday (I'm working at the toll plaza there), but seeing the temps forecasted, I decided against it. Good thing, too, 'cause I hear the park closed early.

Hopefully I can go (in guest capacity) in a couple weeks, once temps have warmed up.

You don't know cold until you've ridden Millennium Force or Top Thrill Dragster when its below 40. I shivered for 30 minutes after I got off MF last fall.

I've found that, on cold days riding Millennium Force, I'll get "brain freeze" without having to eat ice cream too fast!

I'm really hoping things warm up quite a bit for Opening Weekend at The Point. My wife and I will be there, staying at the Hotel Breakers on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, playing in the park through Monday.

^I'll be there sometime that weekend. I have a track meet the 11th and 12th at Georgia Tech.. so I might not be able to go, but that Monday i'll be there without a doubt. Maybe we could meet up, exchange some stories Harpo?

I'd be glad to meet up, but are you sure you'd want to hang around with an old codger like me? :D

(Hmmm, perhaps I should try and dig up a wrinkly smily for that one! Well, maybe later.)

I'll also be there for those three nights. I will meet the legendary Harpo this time, I'm sure of it. :)

Of course I would!! Your one of the only guys on this forum I really want to meet. So much coaster experience! Wouldn't mind sharing a ride on TTD with ya either ;)

Gee, that's got me feeling like the Yoda of the coaster crowd! :D

Hmmm, ride coasters you should, yes. High speeds you'll find. Much excitement for a young Jedi, hmmm?

Now, if I could only convince WJR Radio in Detroit to give me a radio show: "Coaster Speak with The Ol' Harpo. Harpo takes your calls to chat about amusement parks and rides throughout the world!"

If you want to hear such a show, send your recommendations to the WJR Programming Department via the form on WJR's web page: http://wjr.com/contactus.asp

(Yeah, I'm a big enough "ham" that I'd enjoy such a thing! :D )

By the way, since it fits well in this thread: Worlds of Fun left me a voice message the other day, asking if I'd be coming back to the Coaster Mayhem this year. The event was a lot of fun last year, and I recommend it, but I can't fit it into my schedule or budget this year. This year's event is on May 19th. For anyone who can make it to Kansas City that day, I think Worlds of Fun puts on a very enjoyable event, so please think about giving it a try.

You just proved my point Harpo, you coaster goddess you. :)

I'll see what I can do for that show. Anyway, have you placed a bid on Maverick opening day yet?

Goddess? Hmmm, my wife might find that description to be a bit odd! :D

If it helps, in the avatar, I'm the Geezer, er, Guesser on the right. The one on the left was a coworker of mine at Cedar Point, Violetta. One time, I jokingly told a group of guys that, if they didn't win, they could take Vi home. They lost, so they carried Vi away, then deposited her on a garbage can, saying that she deflated.

Haven't placed a bid yet, but I probably will. My funds are a bit tight this year, and I expect the winning bids to be higher than last year, so I don't really expect to win a spot on the first train, but I'll give it a try anyhow.

I haven't been down to KC as much this year as last. Worlds of Fun is a pretty good Cedar Fair park, not my favorite but it is steadily getting better. We went down last year to ride Patriot and were very pleased with that, the Mamba of course is a good ride as well and we ended up spending most of our time between those two.

I will be up at Valley Fair again this weekend to get my Maxx Pass so I expect to be at Worlds of Fun a few times this year as it fits into the schedule. Now, if people would want to have some sort of coaster event or meet with RCT3 nuts or form a coaster club I think that is something worth discussing. If I can work it in I would like to visit several Cedar Fair parks this season but I will certainly be at Valley Fair and Words of Fun more than once this year.
