Steam Jets

So I just got Lvl 1 steam jets under the Technology Skills, and the description says "hits the enemy up to 5X.... 20 pts damage"

But I seem to do more damage than that... around 30 or so each time, up to 5 times.

So is there some sort of damage multiplier being taken into account? I have weapon expertise, which adds 12% damage... but that'd still leave and extra 30-40%?? An Intelligence modifier? Strength? (my strength adds ~10 melee damage... is steam a melee weapon?) Does this count as a hand-weapon?

I'm just curious... its quite useful right now, but I wonder how useful it'll be 20 levels from now. The base damage seems to only go up by 2/level...

I saw the same thing with the extra damage, I don't know why that happens. They stay useful through the game if you get the modifiers on it, like the radiation and stuff.

I know why .... i know why.......the g a m e IS BUGGED to hell & should have not been released in it's current form! Don't they have beta testers or are MD's of ATARI trying to get more money before they finally go under.
